One of my favorite systems is City of Mist. It's an urban fantasy, detective noir inspired TTRPG with elements similar to the Dresden Files. It also uses some systems inspired by powered by the Apocalypse, which I like in general. My second pick would probably be Warhammer Role Playing.
Index Card Role Playing Game (ICRPG) is my system of choice. I find that it is perfect for introducing new players to the concept of role playing, without getting bogged down with wonky or restrictive rules.
Blades in the Dark is my go to right now. Feel like that system with its roleplay first mechanics is what new players think of when they first think of role-playing games.
FFG Legend of the Five Rings RPG. It’s great and a very different game from DND with a heavy emphasis on role play and one of the best character creation systems. You have to consider how your characters actions will reflect on themselves but also clan and family. A good DM will force you and your party into choices where you may stand opposed due to clan differences. The system forces you to make a duty and desire for your character that the DM can play of each other forcing you to choose between personal desires, morals or goals vs the tenets of bushido you as a samurai are meant to embody. Deep political games can be played where not a single combat happens but your party can determine the fate of hundreds based on their words alone. Highly recommend if you enjoy samurai dramas, Japanese culture or simply are looking to play a campaign with the political intrigue and drama of game of thrones.
Nice video. Hyperborea 2e/3e and Lancer are great RPGs. To these I'd add two free RPGs in Radiance (instead of Pathfinder with a great many more options in far fewer books), and Open Legend, both really good. To round out this list I'd add The Witcher rpg, Deviant the Renegades and Demon the Descent (instead of Vampire), Broken Compass (best Indiana Jones Adventure-like game rpg), and Symbaroum (either Original or Ruins of Symbaroum using 5e, both are fantastic).
I LOVE LOVE D100 DUNGEON MAPPING GAME with Books. A fantasy RPG with a combat system of multiple strengths and magic weapons and types of armor for each part of the body. Lots of monsters all in 1 list in Dragon Revenge book. Lots of dice rolling like I always dreamed a great game would be. Produced by MARTIN KNIGHT.
Chill is a great horror system imagine mixing Hellboy and Supernatural together while system plays similar to Call of Cthulhu and if you're into superheroes especially if you're into the boys aberrant is a great white wolf system and world just know both of these are a bit older so trying to find them all might be a little issue but definitely worth it
Shadow of the Demon Lord is my current go to fantasy TTRPG with a huge dose of horror dumped over it. Rules are streamlined but not completely bare bones and the characters are definitely not anything close to fantasy super heroes.
Star Wars saga is great as well as Star Wars from fantasy flights I believe there’s 3 different source books from them I also enjoyed Beyond the Supernatural from palladium and rifts
Not a huge fan of straight B/X, I think LotFP is a stronger game because it fixes a lot of my issues with it. I think the only thing it should've done is make the saves align with the skill system (d6 roll under). I really need to get call of cthulu to the table. I've always wanted to try it. I want to see how well the advancement works in play. I love the idea of it. I ran the alien roleplaying game recently, and I don't think I could choose mothership over it. That game sings at portraying the movies. Wouldn't recommend it for a campaign though. I want to like forbidden lands, but having to buy special dice immediately makes it harder to run. Free league really should make tabs in their games, they require so much reference. Mouseritter seems very cool. I love the aesthetic, and that there are no attack rolls. The magic system is pretty cool too. I was pretty surprised with how much I enjoyed playing pathfinder 2e. I wouldn't run it, but it's a lot of fun. Hated pathfinder 1e though. Haven't ran vampire the masquerade 5th edition, but the new Hunter the Reckoning seems up my alley.
LotFP definitely fixed a lot of things in B/X and you make a good point on saves. Never thought of that before. I love how it fixes the Thief/Specialist and Elf, as well as the elegant encumbrance system.
Old School Essentials has nudged its way to my 2nd favourite system. 1e AD&D still takes top spot, but OSE has been a refreshing return to basics.
its a clean look for sure haha!
My favorite has to be Dungeon Crawl Classics. Wonderful!
its a blast!

awesome list!
I love OSE. Lately I’m all into Mörg Borg and Cairn which is a mash between Knave and Into the Odd.
heck yeah! just got my Pirate Borg in the other day!
Pendragon is the best game ever. Give it a go. Arthurian tales meet games of thrones and crusader Kings is how I would describe it
i dig it!

I'd love to play vamps masquerade but i have no idea how to get into it as it seems like a mess any tips?
Play the mess, have fun hashing it out
the trick is to just roll with it haha! watching a liveplay could help as well!
Good list. Still prefer Tales from the Loop for my kids game
heck yeah!
You should make a new video going more deep in the rules of any 1 or 3 of this games.
Like a basic explanation.
ive done OSE, AS&SH, and DCC! Though I need to do more haha!
