Humvee Cold Start (in Extreme Cold Weather! -1 F)

- We had a cold week! We decided to attempt to start the Humvee when it was -1 degrees F outside. It was pretty cold!

Mine fires right up too. Had 20" of snow about a month ago. Took it out for a drive on the unploughed streets . She's unstoppable compared to my pickup. 🍻🇺🇸
My oil pressure is about 60 when cold and 30 at warm idle.

Me that lives in a country that the coldstest it gets is 11 degrees celcius(51F) for a week and the rest of the year is ussually over 100 F, thinking: yes this is good to know when I have my humvee.

Did you have any issues with shifting gears in cold? I mean if you drive right away
No I haven't had any issues shifting gears in the cold. Usually if I would have a problem like that I would check my transmission fluids level and/or replace the fluids. Thanks for watching!

Could you explain what you were doing pushing the accelerator at 1:50 and throttle lock at 2:05? Also glad to see I am not the only one whose humvee starts fine with the blinking wait light (I probably need to change my glow plugs, I added supplemental grounds and cleaned connections).
Hey, so glad you enjoyed the video and found it helpful. I started with pressing the throttle down all the way to activate extreme cold start, and after that I turned the throttle lock to keep the rpm higher so the engine would warm up quicker. I am planning to get to the bottom of the blinking light as well, but so far have been using the Humvee with the blinking light for over a year and never had any issues. Idk why it started because there’s clearly an issue with your PCB according to the yellow light flashing.
I know right! It's crazy! I never had any problem starting it even with the blinking light and I have had this issue since I got the Humvee from GovPlanet :).
Why doesn’t mine do that? Got to run a block heater for at least a hour before it will start . What is wrong with my truck ?
Not sure, what was the temperature you tried to start at? I would start with checking your glow plugs. www.steelsoldiers.com is a good resource to find a solution or ask any questions as well. Keep us updated on how it goes :)
