Hi Angie I really appreciate all of your videos learning so much from you. Not sure where to start with the serums or Retin A. What do you suggest, should I start with serums or Retin A. I don’t want to try to many new things all at once afraid of irritation then I won’t know what is causing the irritation. I’m currently using your suggestion of the CeraVe cleanser & face cream a.m. & sunscreen. I have a tube of the Australian Gold Botanical coming via a friend in the US, can’t find it here in Canada. I am also using Olay regenerist 2x/day & Neutrogena rapid wrinkle repair at night. I am 58 with normal skin sometimes sensitive around the eye area. Thanks for all your help. DD

I think you should start with Retin A. It is the Queen of all skin care anti aging. I bought my first tube in 1987 ish. Bear with it at first is can be a challenge, but worth it. Good luck to you.

Dear Angie, I was at my hairdressers this past Wednesday and she said "Your skin is so beautiful what have you been doing?" Well, I've been following your advice for 2 years, started at 58 and I'll be 60 on Monday. Prior to that I only wore a BB daycream with some sunblock and of course I wasn't using enough of that even. Thankyou for all of your research and sharing your advise with us. Gratefully, Patti

    @b.walker5955 6 років тому +27

Ah, yeah, that was a pretty decent selection of AHA's! Extremely decent, extremely informative and extremely complete I would say! Wowzers!
I realize some of you may recognize my posts and that I sound like a broken record, but bare with me I am stuck on the best part...JUST GET and start using the products she continues to talk about. I had a huge stock of my old skin care products, I spent a ton on them and couldn't rationalize chucking them. Oh how I wish I had. I slowly began replacing my old empties with Angie tested stuff. I would go to her Amazon store and buy one or two at a time. As soon as I did, I would wake up and wonder what the heck I had done to deserve such great skin. Obviously getting better sleep. The next day the same...well, it must be my diet changes. But it wasn't anything I had done, other than faithfully plunging head first into the H&F fountain of youth recommended products.
To add; I know that the print out, the list of products and order of the daily routine she has created to follow is a huge part of my success. I can't wait to get up and do the morning routine. I follow it as I do the night time. It is like having your own skin care coach right there with you. Faithful repeated use and use of these great products will get you results! And I can now be spendy elsewhere! (Shoes).
After having watched these three segments in this series, you must be convinced she knows her stuff. She is not going to waste time with underperforming products for herself nor recommend you to. Take the plunge people. Remove your water rings, toss the junk and take the freakin plunge. : )
PS. The lactic acid was the only thing I lack. After watching this...I instructed Amazon to send it posthaste. Love my prime almost as much as I love my Angie : ) Nay, I love her the mostest.

Hi Cari, we were all new once! Glad you are here! (it is not my place to welcome you, but I am going to anyway.) You see the SHOW MORE above? You can open that and see everything spoken of in this video. Links on prices, and where to buy. I use her amazon links that way I know I am getting the one she uses. You can click on ABOUT , which is a tab across the top and within that find all her channels.
Within those I found you this link: www.hotandflashy50.com/winter-anti-aging-skincare-routine-printable-guide/
I just realized it is categorized as WINTER 2017-18. Not sure if she changes the roundup for warmer months or if she is dating this for us in case she makes a new discovery/alteration. I really encourage you to seriously consider beginning with these products. I think you can tell I am a believer in the words I wrote. : ) Angie is really good about answering your questions. My best- Bunnie

Be very careful when shopping for skincare on Amazon! If you can avoid it at all costs, I would! I just saw a really disturbing news clip about all kinds of random fluids being added to these non-authentic skincare products. Always make sure you’re buying from an authorized seller, don’t buy just to save a buck, it’s not worth putting animal urine on your face! I knew this was an on going problem with products on Amazon particularly in the skincare/beauty world but actually seeing it was disgusting. Unfortunately, it’s hard to control due to the volume of products being sold.🤢

Couldn't agree more 😃. It's definitely safer to go directly to the company website. I've never seen any videos about the dodgy products , do you have any links, I'd be interested to see them..... would probably help others on here as well who may be tempted 😧 . It's better to save up the extra......your skin is priceless. Xx

Alison Tull No I don’t have any info online but I’m sure you can google it. I saw it on the news a couple of times recently that Amazon is selling counterfeit beauty and skincare products, but they didn’t mention any names of third party sellers. I also saw that police seized close to 70K worth of counterfeit makeup in California that contained animal waste. Gross...

I started using the Alpha Skin Care products nearly two decades ago, starting back when they were Alpha Hydrox. My skin always looked great. I stopped using it for a few years and I wasn't as happy with the look and texture of my skin. I started back with it last year and my skin is looking so much better. We've also started using the Alpha body lotion on my husband and it's done wonders for his seborrheic keratoses. It's hard to find the Alpha products in stores so I order them directly from the company. My only regret is that I stopped using glycolic acid for a few years. Now I just need to incorporate Vitamin C and retinoids into my routine.

Another really informative video but I'm really surprised you didn't mention BHAs (or only in passing) or Azelaic Acid. BHA can be a great alternative for those with skin too sensitive to AHAs as BHA is at a lower percentage. BHA is also perfect for those who suffer with breakouts and large pores as it's oil soluble (AHA isn't) so gets into the pores and cleans them out.
Alezaic acid is an AHA that can be used to great effect when used on it's own or combined with glycolic, salicylic or lactic acid (to taylor a regimen that works for you means starting small, patch testing & finding the right formulation for you). It's many benfits for the skin include; diminishing blemishes, fading red marks and discolourations, refines the skins surface & has antioxidant benefits. It is particularly good for dull, uneven and aging skin. It's most effective between 15 and 20% concentration but is still effective at lower concentrations.
I hope I've added to the great info you're providing.

Ms Angie you look great!!! I can't even begin to guess how old you are. However age is just a number its all about how you feel. I believe how you look definitely determines how you feel. I'm in my late 40's and I'm crossing over to that new aging process. I unfortunately have developed eye bags and I need to know what you recommend to remove or at least diminish the puffiness. I am contemplating on plastic surgery for my last resort. YOU have no puffiness at all and it makes a big difference. I'm really happy to stumble on your site because its honest and to the point. Definitely a subscriber and sharing it to everyone I know. Excited to hear back from you!!!!

I have to admit I'm a little afraid of the acids. I have rosacea & redness & don't want to make it worse. However I have a much clearer understanding of the %acid vs ph. Thanks so much Angie.

    Hi Angie:
I just wanted to say that I LOVE your videos, I just subscribed to your channel. I’m over 50 and I like watching beauty videos, but I think your channel is the best, first of all because at our age we have different needs and questions and tips than younger women and because I love your natural look and your taste. I have seen other videos, but I will always go for natural looks and products all the time. I love how clear your explanations are, how useful they are, and even though we have different skin type (mine is normal to dry), I found every advice useful, so thank you for that.
I just wanted to ask you a question: do you have any videos on skin cleansers and make up removers? And about product for cleaning brushes? I have sensitive skin and I am disciplined in cleaning up my face every night, but so far it has been challenging to find a product that cleanses the skin without leaving that horrible dry effect (cardboard like skin). I am not very good with you tube so if you have done a video of this, can you please send me the link? And if you haven’t, could you do a video about this? Thank you very much!!!
I live in Mexico, and some of the brands that you recommend I can’t find here, must most of them I can (we have Sephora here, so that is good), but I appreciate every comment. I also found very useful when you talk about the components of anti-aging creams, because it shows that you have made a lot of research.
Sorry for leaving such a long message!!!!

Hi Angie--I'm only 23 but I love watching your videos and learning how to start taking care of my skin now. Are there any products you would recommend younger women not use, and hold off on until an older age? Maybe you could do a video about how to start taking care of your skin in your 20s and 30s?

Hi Angie, What a timely topic for me as I have struggled over the last month or so to add an acid into my routine which already includes RetinA and vitamin C. Started with the glycol, Pixie Glow Tonic and that was a no go for me. So now I am moving on to the lactic acids. Such great information (and graphics) on a very confusing topic. I also finally order the Australian Gold sunscreen today to try on your recommendation although I really do love the Obagi tinted which is my holy grail (but spendy, as you say). I wonder if you have any experience with the PHAs? I would love to hear more about them. Thanks again for making life so much easier for all of us!

After watching the video on AHAs that Dr Dray posted recently and learning that the wash I was using was ineffective I contacted DECIEM and the Ordinary 7% AHA Toner. They contacted their labs and told me that there was about 50% free acid in the product so that the available amount of AHA is in actuality 3.5%. I am enjoying this product and in the mornings I alternate this product with a Vitamin C and this routine has worked quite well without irritation.

I just started using acids, I'm 35 now , and have some freckles clump together into larger spots on the top of my cheeks and over my lip. I've watched tons of videos on skincare cause I just enjoy them, but when it came to me choosing where to start, it seemed like I forgot everything :)
I begun to use glycolic toner ( it's the second ingredient) and it doesn't tingle so I feel fine using it. And just got AHA serum by a new brand Revox, similar to ordinary but you can get it in store, since I don't like online shopping and it fits my budget. There are just a handful of reviews on it but some friends and clients love it so I decided to give it a go. Since then I bumped up the SPF to 50 of course.
Feel free to let me know if I'm doing something wrong with my skincare

This is SUCH a great seriesAngie! Thanks so much for all your effort. And yes to the irritation - AHAs made my hyperpigmentation worse! I'm looking at PHAs instead (about to try Lixirskin) - will you do something on them? V big in Korean skincare, I think. Would love to know if you think they can work better for sensitive, pigmented skin? x

    • @AngieHotandFlashy

Hi Amanda~ Thanks so much! I'll be including PHA's in the series in a video on other acids. Based on the literature I've seen so far using a PHA could be great for you. They can be gentler on the skin than AHAs and show great potential. If you have pigmentation issues you might also look into azeliac acid. xo ~angie

Oh I cant believe you replied so quickly. Fab. Great that you're going to do these. Also seeing recommendations for kojic and arbutin (is that the right name?) to help age spots, pigmentation and even melasma. I really don't know how you work these into a routine, though. Wonderful that there are so many active options now, though, and on lots of budgets. Have a lovely day xx
