I watched this with my little brothers thinking it would just be another cute, fun Disney movie, but then I ended up crying because of the portrayal of generational trauma, toxic families, the pressures of being the “strong” sister, etc…thankfully the bomb music helped me get through it 💀😂
If we reflect for a moment: Isabella's Part in „We don't talk about Bruno“ is perfectly written. Yes, everyone before was singing about their nightmare-phrophecies, but so is she: She doesn't want to be perfect, she doesn't want the perfect life… So, Bruno's vision of a perfect life is also a nightmare for her and makes sense in the song :)
Bruno's prophecy still comes true, she (and we at the time) just aren't interpreting it right. He said she'd have "the life she dreamed of." Not the perfect life she saw in front of her, but the life she *secretly* dreamed of, where she could be whatever she wanted.
What kills me about Delores is that she heard Bruno in the walls all that time and didn’t say a PEEP. But finding out Mirabel may ruin the house and she tells everyone instantly. LOVE A GIRL WHO KNOWS WHEN REAL TEA MUST BE SPILLED 👏🏽👏🏽
Bruno had been living in the walls for 10 years. There were clues she’d heard him (when she mentioned the rats talking when Mirabel asked about the magic and in the song “We Don’t Talk About Bruno”). But there’s a theory that she probably did talk about hearing him when she was younger but because he wasn’t “talked” about she learned to keep her mouth shut.
dolores kept it to herself because it could have gotten him in actual exile from the family. Everyone acting like bruno leaving was going to stop anything bad from happening
I'm still fully convinced that Dolores is amazing at keeping secrets and the only reason she snitched at dinner was to sabotage the engagement dinner cuz she was in love with Mariano and therefore didn't want him marrying her cousin 🤣😅 I think the only reason she held out as long as she did was because she knew it was also gonna get Mirabel in trouble which she felt guilty about 🤣 I also have a feeling that Bruno, knowing her gift, asked her on the night he left not to say anything about him still being around. 🤷
The theory is that Mirabel was chosen to be the next "keeper of keys" since Abuela isn't going to be around forever, and someone has to eventually take up the mantel as the head of the house, it stems from the fact that Abuela doesn't have a power either, but she does have a very close connection to the house, and so does Mirabel, who throughout the movie, talks to it like it's a person. Instead of being chosen to have a gift, she was chosen by the house to become the next leader.
I looked it up - with no magic - the house would take about 6 to 9 months - which fits with the 3 "season changes" during the song - and gives the family time to put themselves together as PEOPLE rather than simply magicians. It would also make the village aware that they can do a few things for themselves - and for that donkey owner to reinforce his barn doors! Personally I'd say it took just shy of 9 months.
I think one of the most non talked about gifts is Mirabel's mother Julieta. Sure, it would be neat to heal people with your food, but you would constantly need to be cooking. How much would that weigh on a person if you became the go to for every sickness and injury in the town. Imagine trying to sleep and someone busts down your door at 3am because their kid is sick and needs your soup. I think that might be why is shown with the most gray hair of the triplets.
I personally LOVE when people sing along during commentaries, it shows the passion that they have for the movie/show/artists etc (there are so many reactors nowadays and with some you can’t help but feel that they’re not genuine and that they’re reacting just for the views)
I'm in the camp that says Dolores ruined that proposal on purpose 😆😆😆 She knew Bruno was living in the walls for 10 years and ain't say nothing to nobody. She knows how to keep a secret. But when Isabella's about to be engaged to her MCM she decides it's time to spill some tea 🍵😆😆😆
She literally says in the end that she heard and told people but they didnt believe her because they thought it was the rats. Thats why at the beginning she says she heard the rats in the walls. She also said she could hear him in "we dont talk about bruno".
Mirabel doesn't get a gift because she IS the gift. She doesn't get A door but THE door (whole house) She is the glue healing what's broken and the one to guard the candle/magic in the future. Abuela said she asked abuelo Pedro for a "miracle" and he sent her Mirabel. ("Mirabel "= miracle)
Fun fact and actually a lot of latin people use this. When Mirabel's dad says "Miércoles" the start of the word sounds the same as "Miérda" which actually means shit, so we use it as a synonym
Stopp!! 😂 I watched this as I was brushing my teeth and almost choked on the toothpaste foam when you started singing along when we don’t talk about Bruno came up. I can’t 😂 so dramatical. Loved it because that’s the way I sing it (especially Felix‘s parts)

Stephanie Beatriz who voices Mirabel was 9 months pregnant and in active labor with her daughter, when she recorded Waiting On A Miracle. She had her daughter the next day 🥹🦋✨She was quite literally waiting on her miracle.
Love the we don’t talk about Bruno song But took me a while to think of why Isabella’s “good” prophecy is in there , I think it’s because everyone is talking about how his vision ruined their life (even the background people) and for iasabells the “good” premonition gave everyone expectations that made her unhappy assuming what her happiness is and expecting her to be exponentially powerful
i think the end just exposes the fact that she doesn't have a door because her door has always been the front door because she's the person that's supposed to protect the gift (the cracks appear when her mental health starts getting worse and crumbles down when she breaks the relationship with the previous protector of the miracle, the granny) so i guess she had a gift but no one realises because nothing really changed, she was just there for the future generations
21:53 The theory is that Mirabel doesn't get a gift because she's acc meant to be Abuela's replacement as the keeper of the candle & leader of the family: - Alma & Merabel are the only ones w/out a gift - Alma & Mirabel have a close relationship w/ Casita, unlike the other Madrigals - Mirabel's dress is covered in butterflies, which is the symbol on the candle, etc
I was told that Mirabel didn't get a gift cause she is supposed to be the next leader of the family. The next abuela if you will. So I think that's her gift.
Forced displacement by illegal militia groups has apparently historically and still is an issue in Colombia. As you can see in the second version of Abuela's story, at the end of the film, there are men with weapons setting fire to their town when they flee. They left to find somewhere new to live because they didn't have a choice. Also the amount of violence that goes on in these incidents is pretty high, Pedro 100% was slaughtered in front of her, which is why she screamed and collapsed to her knees the way she did. (also Mirabel is 15)
I wish we could have seen at least a brief glimpse of every family member's room (hopefully there will be a sequel for us to see them). It would hv been cool to see Luisa's room early in the film (maybe w/ everything made of stone/ focused on her strength like the concept design), & then see Luisa's, Bruno's & Isabela's rooms again after Casita is rebuilt, getting to see how they've changed w/ the new family dynamic, (i.e. Luisa given space to relax, Isa having all kinds of plants, etc)
how i saw the finale is that Mirabel is the new guardian of the family and the candle, she is what glues the family together, she has a very unique bond with the magic and Casita even "without powers" 💫
@@BradEvans21 Actually the part that you skip about the background story of the Abuela is very imporant for our history here in Colombia, because of the armed conflict and all the civil war. That was the part that made me cry rivers

I like the idea of Mirabel being the gift of the family and because of that "gift less". But I've also seen a theori video wich says that Mirabel didn't got a gift because she wiped her hands on her dress, before she touched the door, so no longer had the magic of the candle on her, which kind of makes sense to me...
Absolutely loved this video! I love this movie and it hits so close to home, it means so much. I'm so glad you watched this with us! Although, I'm sorry, but the way you cut out Camillo's part of We Don't Talk About Bruno...I can't support it. Camillo is personally my favorite character and I honestly think it was such a big miss not going more into his Gift and how he struggles with it. He's also the same age as Mirabel (15 years old!) so I think their relationship as cousins also could've been hilarious with them messing with each other lol. Seriously though, great video!! The way you edited around you belting the song lyrics was hilarious!! I can't wait for more Disney movies!! May I suggest Moana and/or Lilo and Stitch?
On Disney + they have an Encanto live at the Hollywood Bowl. Stephanie Beatriz/Mirabel is such fun to watch!! I also always love to share that "Waiting on a Miracle" was recorded when she was in early labor.
Mirabels powers are the house itself, taking over Abuelas job. Notice how untill Mirabel, all the doors are of their adult self. Who they are supposed to be when they grow up. Thats what Abuela focused on. After Mirabel, when the kid gets his powers, its him as a child. Mirabel focuses on them having a good childhood and not having to try and fit into this stensel. Building a whole new house, a new start at this miracle of theirs. That's my theory. Also Delores is the only one not smiling on the new door at the end of the movie, I think her powers are unbearable for her.
It took at least a month to rebuild the house. The exterior stucco takes time to dry! Loved your video. (I am in the "Mirabel is the next matriarch" camp, so doesn't need a specific gift.)
If I remember correctly from the books I read on this Isabella's 21 Dolores is 20 Louisa is 19 camilo is 15 as is Mirabelle but he's a few months older and the next baby is little bitty five-year-old Antonio so he gets his gift during the movie cuz everyone gets it when they turn 5
No, Dolores has the same age than Isabela but is months younger. You know what ? I have the impression Antonio is born only because Mirabel didn't have a gift (the triplets have 50 years old so it means Pepa had him at 45)
@@a.g.demada5263 yeah he's a sweet kid and I know that camilo and Mirabelle are the same age just like a month or two apart I don't know how many months but I know they're things were very close together
The way he be acting like the grandparents took their triplets to go find a new home out of some flight of fancy and not like..fleeing for their lives 😅🤣
The way nobody appreciates Camilo in these UA-cam videos 😂 he’s by far the best character 😂😭 also, looking back, didn’t mean it the way it sounds. It was meant like, in his song bits nobody includes it, sorry that sounded a bit rude it really was not intended that way at all
my dad is columbian, and the first time my family & i were watching encanto, when they mentioned that they were columbian (i cant remember how or when but i know they do) my mom was way more excited than my dad & i lmao. but seriously encanto is one of my top 3 disney movies fr!!!
Mirabel is 15. 5 at the time she didn’t get her gift; all the Madrigal kids are 5 when they have their ceremony. They didn’t rebuild Casita all in one day. The last song was over the usual period of time it would take to build a house.
I've always assumed a week or two with all the help, because that's how long it takes habitat for humanity to build houses with all their staff and volunteers.
So everyone who knows me agrees that I'm basically Bruno (reclusive, quirky, perceptive, and basically blamed by my family for things I had no control over or nothing to do with and just remind them of things they don't like) but I also really identify with how Mirabel's family (and other people) also just says the most hurtful things to her in this completely casual way so if she gets upset they can just make it out like she's being overly sensitive. But seriously, the things they say are things normal people would never say to someone else. I think that's strong commentary on how we normalize being toxic like that to make ourselves feel better about the way we've been treated, like 'well I got treated that way but I wasn't allowed to be upset so no one else is either because it's okay' when it's really not okay at all
My interpretation of Mirabel's "gift" or lack there of is that her purpose is to bring the family together and repare the generational trauma and take over from Abuela eventually. Though it still is shitty that the house didn't give her her own room, Abuela has her own room...
My favourite sequence in the whole movie starts with the rats carrying the vision shards past Mirabel and ends when Bruno flops butt-first back into the wall after hiding behind the plant 🤣🤣🤣 Even though you skipped sm of that, I still really enjoyed this video 😂🥰😊🙏 Thanks for the content! 😍
My cousins and I r so obsessed with we don’t talk abt Bruno that we gave each other parts and we’ll just randomly start singing it and we even learnt most of the dance 💀
You singing along to everything made me so happy bc when I finally convinced my bestie to watch this, her first words after it ended were "... I don't get it."
You know Mirabel had such mixed feelings when Antonio got his gift and his own door, because she was definitely happy for him, she was probably afraid he wouldn't get a gift either, but then also it probably made her feel like 'well then what's wrong with me?' because he got one but not her. That would be so painful to watch but she did such a great job being supportive to Antonio the whole time
I think the reason she didn't get a gift when she touched the door was because after she touched the candle she wipe her hands on her dress before touching the door, maybe she wiped the "Magic" away
There's a lot of hip movement because it's set in Colombia, and Colombia is the mother of many musical genres and dances like cumbia and vallenato; latinamerica loves its hips. Unrelated but maybe it's because I don't have a strong sense of family but I don't think abuela deserved to be forgiven that fast, she was awful and she needed a bitchslap imo lol
Mirabel "what do you think my gift will be" Abuela "whatever it will be i'm sure it will be just as special as you" Casita "suprise b***h you aint getting s**t" Mirabel😭 Abuela and the rest of the family😱*gagged*
She doesn't have a gift, because the family needed someone to keep them grounded. If she had one then the family would have fallen apart from the pressure abuela put on them all. She IS the gift herself.
Pls, pls, pls, I need you to react to "Turning Red", it's even better than this one, with better storytelling and resolution of generational trauma. You'll really love this. Both movies are amazing, "We don't talk about Bruno" is one of my all times favourite Disney songs. Loving your videos as always. Lots of love from Spain
popular fan theories say mirabel is going to be the new abuela, the next leader of the family and its next generations and the candle doesn't give leaders a gift
LOL It's a Disney film. We don't want to traumatize small children with bloody corpses in the water. This is the darker side of Colombian history in the early 1900's that we can read about later.
Can we talk about how Bruno got done so dirty until like the very freaking end. Maribel too but even Maribel kinda believed the rumors even though she knew how they treated her.

18:28 this scene made me sobbbb the first time I watched this movie bc low key I saw it as my abuela saying it to me
I had so much fun watching this reaction !!
thank you sooooo much!! 💙
Pepa: "we don't talk about bruno"
Continues to talk about bruno.
On Disney + they have an Encanto live at the Hollywood Bowl. Stephanie Beatriz/Mirabel is such fun to watch!! I also always love to share that "Waiting on a Miracle" was recorded when she was in early labor.
I interpreted it as Mirabel is the next ‘glue’ of the family which where abuela failed and that was Mirabel’s gift. She didn’t need a door for it.
Abuela Alma75
Pepa, Bruno, & Julieta 50
Agustin & Felix 50
Isabella 22
Dolores 21
Luisa 19
Camilo 15
Mirabel 15
Antonio 5
Just found your channel and I’m obsessed with you babes!
YESSSSS!! 💙💙
hahahaha t the way you edited the little child screaming about her super awesome gift hahaha
We've never clicked so fast!!
🥰🥰🥰
Me just watching this a year after Brad watches it 😢. Brad’s older videos I am always watching
ok editinggg!! ❤️🔥
💙🥰
“Pressure” is a song for all the older siblings out there, it’s our theme song 😅
You are incredible! I’m always in tears from your video! You make me laugh soooooo hard! ❤️❤️❤️🥰🥰🥰
It's indicated on a wall during Mirabel's song on the begining.
Also, one of the song's title is " Colombia, mi encanto "
Mirabel is 15.
5 at the time she didn’t get her gift; all the Madrigal kids are 5 when they have their ceremony.
They didn’t rebuild Casita all in one day. The last song was over the usual period of time it would take to build a house.
I've always assumed a week or two with all the help, because that's how long it takes habitat for humanity to build houses with all their staff and volunteers.
Also when everyone gets their encanto they turn 5, and mirabel is 15 in this movie. So Bruno has been in the walls of the hours for about 10 yrs
I think that's strong commentary on how we normalize being toxic like that to make ourselves feel better about the way we've been treated, like 'well I got treated that way but I wasn't allowed to be upset so no one else is either because it's okay' when it's really not okay at all
Thank you for putting a smile on my face♥
I totally understand the whole rewatching thing like I'd watch something ten times and still find it fun
Pepa is everything.
Give reactors that are honest about having already seen the movie that respect watch and thumbs up. Real should be rewarded.
My interpretation of Mirabel's "gift" or lack there of is that her purpose is to bring the family together and repare the generational trauma and take over from Abuela eventually. Though it still is shitty that the house didn't give her her own room, Abuela has her own room...
My favourite sequence in the whole movie starts with the rats carrying the vision shards past Mirabel and ends when Bruno flops butt-first back into the wall after hiding behind the plant 🤣🤣🤣
Even though you skipped sm of that, I still really enjoyed this video 😂🥰😊🙏
Thanks for the content! 😍
2:37 cutting in to explain censoring didnt work out was brilliant
Oh my god, you have a new subscriber. You are too funny and I love your antics and your singing is top notch!!
Encanto just makes me happy every time I watch it
My cousins and I r so obsessed with we don’t talk abt Bruno that we gave each other parts and we’ll just randomly start singing it and we even learnt most of the dance 💀
You singing along to everything made me so happy bc when I finally convinced my bestie to watch this, her first words after it ended were "... I don't get it."
It’s actually implied that the rebuilding of the house didnt happen in just one day :)
LMFAO "sorry abuela" 😂
I’m so happy to get to watch this with u, thank you for the surprise mama
You know Mirabel had such mixed feelings when Antonio got his gift and his own door, because she was definitely happy for him, she was probably afraid he wouldn't get a gift either, but then also it probably made her feel like 'well then what's wrong with me?' because he got one but not her. That would be so painful to watch but she did such a great job being supportive to Antonio the whole time
I think the reason she didn't get a gift when she touched the door was because after she touched the candle she wipe her hands on her dress before touching the door, maybe she wiped the "Magic" away
Bruno in the back dancing to his own song while no one notices him is so crazy to me lol
Mirabel "what do you think my gift will be"
Abuela "whatever it will be i'm sure it will be just as special as you"
Casita "suprise b***h you aint getting s**t"
Mirabel😭
Abuela and the rest of the family😱*gagged*
Omg the shadeeee to Jesy Nelson💀
I liveeeeeee
13:42 my thoughts on this is that since the setting in colombia and alot of hispanic cultures dance are using hips so yeah i think its that
She doesn't have a gift, because the family needed someone to keep them grounded.
What was Abuela's gift? Maribel is sees what people need. She didn't need her own room to hone her gift.
Abuelas gift is the candle Protecter
@@starstar6575 That’s not a gift that sounds like a job 😭
Haha!!! Loved this reaction!!
“This bit slaps “ “omg this bit”. Proceeds to not show it 😂 😂
I LOVE YOU AND YOUR VIDEOS :)
popular fan theories say mirabel is going to be the new abuela, the next leader of the family and its next generations and the candle doesn't give leaders a gift
Loving this soundtrack💝🎶
Yes, Abuelo died by the hands of the marauders.
but did we see the body 👀
LOL It's a Disney film. We don't want to traumatize small children with bloody corpses in the water. This is the darker side of Colombian history in the early 1900's that we can read about later.
Can we talk about how Bruno got done so dirty until like the very freaking end. Maribel too but even Maribel kinda believed the rumors even though she knew how they treated her.
1:41 😂😂😂😂😂😂 I am dying 😊😊😊😊😊😂😂😂😂😂
awww your reaction is so cute!!
We don’t talk about Bruno no no no we don’t talk about Bruno
