It's already being established that the friendship is very therapeutic for them both. Dan is a link to the man Abby wishes she hadn't taken for granted and Abby helping Dan to remember the man Harry made of him, the man his wife could fall in love with and ultimately marry.
His energy has changed; he isn't as physically fast and loud as he was in the original series but that's also a reflection of the amount of time that has passed, John's actual age and the evolution of the character. He is doing a magnificent job (as expected).
I'm currently re-watching the original. The new show has been a little uneven, but so was the original in its 1st season. I will continue to watch. The fact that Dan has evolved instead of just being the same guy in an older body is the best part.
The first season of the original Night Court in my opinion was really good and I didn’t watch the show originally or was born just yet but this show just doesn’t have humor. Yes it’s good that Dan Fielding has evolved from how he was 30+ years ago but it doesn’t even seem like the same person humor wise.
I'm really happy they brought the show back! I loved watching the original growing up. Congrats to everybody on the show and getting a second season! 👍💯
I really love the new show , i used to watch the old show with my father and now i get to do the same with my son , i would love to see some of the surviving cast make a cameo or be on the show i miss Bull the most , congrats on the newboot.
I grew up watching the old one with my Dad, too. He passed when I was 15, but I have super fond memories of watching it with him. Unfortunately, most of the original cast have passed. The only main cast member that is still alive besides Dan, is Bull. I would absolutely love for him to at least make a cameo, but he made a comment to TMZ a couple years back saying and I quote "I'd run the other way" when asked about his interest in being on the show. (This was before the show aired and I believe was just in the beginning stages of being greenlit) I also heard rumors that he didn't have the greatest time on the original set, due to falling outs with other cast members/producers. That, I'm not sure how much, if any, is true.. but could maybe be the reasoning behind his reluctance. Anyways, sorry for the long rant. Your comment just really resonated with me.
@@jcar12321 Marsha Warfield (Roz) is still alive too, but she hasn't said anything about coming back as far as i know. she's still acting, so maybe (hopefully) she'll get a guest spot at some point...? 🤷♀
Not a full cast member, I know, but William Utay (Phil) is still alive. I know the character died, but I’d love it if they could give him a part. John Aston (Buddy) too.
I'm not one of those guys who always says the older stuff is better but in this case, the best of Dan Fielding happened about 30 years ago. I am hopeful though because he's still got it.
OH! They actually DID bring back that show? Fantastic! Last I'd heard, the old stars were sceptical a remake would happen, especially after Harry Anderson ("Judge Stone") died. Thanks for this upload!
One thing I remember about the original, it held the record for the tallest male cast in TV history. Seeing Dan and Abby standing next to each other only emphasizes this.
This feels like he's Jenkins again from the librarians only with a sense of humor, teaching and helping others to get stuff like food or just to be left alone lol
☺️ a friend of mine's headcannon is that Jenkins IS Dan. He was undercover for The Library. Dan's womanizing was an act (can't remember how much we saw in the original or how much was just reputation). Now for the new series, Jenkins has to go back to pretending to be Dan. She says it's the armadillo that's the artifact. It brings out the weird and bizarre in people and has re-surfaced with Abby becoming judge. Dan does have quite a bit of the Jenkins vibe. Probably one of the reasons I love both
I think Dan in a way is serving as a mentor for Abbie. She’s just starting out and I think Harry would appreciate his daughter having that help in the courtroom
They had better be thankful that John came back to save this mess. Oh the Roz replacement is kinda cool. The judge sounds like the new one, like Minnie Mouse on helium!
I see him as the white George lopez from lopez vs lopez ..... calls it how he's sees it. I love it. That's gangsta, real life ain't sugar coated. I hope lopez and fielding have 10 plus seasons. I never get tired of hearing them. I used to watch night court with my mom and younger sister when I was about 7. I'm 36.
Dan's evolution for this iteration of the show is very well done. And through the first season, Abby becomes more well-rounded. But I have to express disappointment in the other three characters. They seem two-dimensional, and their jokes are just formulaic "set-up/payoff" gags. They lack humanity and depth, and their stories need to be explored in order to make the show worth watching. I would also like to see a return to the original's idea of sometimes having a parade of quirky defendants throughout the show. And a return of Bob and June Wheeler would be very welcome.
Richard Moll doesn't care for the show, as it effectively typecasted him as a bald headed dim witted goody-goody, killing his more lucrative career as a full head of hair villain type that he did before Night Court.
I loved the original Night Court. I tried watching the reboot and I just cannot find anything funny. Sorry bit even John Larroquette isn't funny anymore!
Interesting. Now, IF only there be a "Best of Dan Fielding" segment from the ORIGINAL "Night Court" TV sitcom of the late 1980's and early 1990's on UA-cam as a way of remembering what "Dan Fielding" used to be. Now THAT would be interesting indeed.
It's already being established that the friendship is very therapeutic for them both. Dan is a link to the man Abby wishes she hadn't taken for granted and Abby helping Dan to remember the man Harry made of him, the man his wife could fall in love with and ultimately marry.
That's a wonderful way of looking at this series. Thank you.
He still has that charisma and sarcasm like back in the day

@@a.b.sproductionsllc Correct.
This Dan Fielding really speaks to my soul. “No energy is the dream.” I felt that.
I loved Dan Fielding in the original series and I love this older version of the character.
Dan is the best loving character ever. Gotta love John Larroquette!
Never has a good actor made a despicable character so loveable. Well, him and Jeffery Combs. Brunt, FCA should have had his own TV show.
An older, still sarcastic Dan Fielding, and brother, do we love him.
John will always be a 4 time Emmy award winning legend
I'm really happy they brought the show back! I loved watching the original growing up. Congrats to everybody on the show and getting a second season! 👍💯
Happy to see the show moving along. ☆☆☆☆

John Larroquette is one of my favorite comedic actors
Long live Dan The Man Fielding !
"Two steps behind me. No eye contact." looool
There is no night court without miss badass roz Russell and the legend reinhold Daniel fielding Elmore
OH! They actually DID bring back that show? Fantastic! Last I'd heard, the old stars were sceptical a remake would happen, especially after Harry Anderson ("Judge Stone") died.
Thanks for this upload!

Yes ... He's Back !
This feels like he's Jenkins again from the librarians only with a sense of humor, teaching and helping others to get stuff like food or just to be left alone lol
I watched the librarian once or twice for him and maybe Jenkins and fielding were brothers separated at birth .that's funny 🤣

OMG the Armordillo is still in the bookshelf!!! Clarence!!!!!! And the same green couch!!!!
Dan ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This show's been on the air for less than three months. How do we have a "best of" already?
Give this man another Emmy
Sad the show will not make it 😢
Reinhold Daniel fielding Elmore is the man the hero the myth the legend
Read the opening credits, laroquette is one of the producers. Good job so far.
Never realize how tall Dan is and how short Abby is he is sitting down and they are almost the same size
Dan (John) is so good here. I love the show. C
Classics don't die.
“Emotional Support Grouch.” Sounds like a job I’d be great at!
And didn’t ya hear his vest came in he can go in planes now
The best of Dan Fielding is limited to the original Night Court, of course.
Dan got me into Lox and Bagels and it's now my favorite breakfast
2:55 Love the Little Shop of Horrors line there! I'll just add this: "For God's sake, don't feed the Dan!"
I think Dan in a way is serving as a mentor for Abbie. She’s just starting out and I think Harry would appreciate his daughter having that help in the courtroom
They should of showed both versions of his role on Night Court
If they did, this video would be MUCH LONGER!
John is so damn funny and still has been after all these years
Still a shocker we lost Bull Shannon aka Richard Moll a few days ago.
They need to show flashbacks of Dan, and Vincent "Vinnie the Pooh" Daniels, Dan's diminutive boss.
They had better be thankful that John came back to save this mess. Oh the Roz replacement is kinda cool. The judge sounds like the new one, like Minnie Mouse on helium!
I’m glad that John Laroquette came back and I believe the only other surviving cast member is Bull and I would love to see him come back to the show
Roz is still alive and said she wasn't asked to be in the reboot, Bull declined to reprise his role.
@@TurbidTG1 There are several others. Night court had like 13 cast members over the years.
Except that Bull is on Jupiter.
Problem is that THIS is not Dan Fielding. Not the one we all know and love. The original won't ever be topped by a second rate reboot.
Reinhold Daniel Fielding Elmore is a gem in the original. The older one is the opposite.
That's what I said.

I miss the 80s Dan 🥴
Would have thought the best could be found on the original show.
Dang Rauch is tiny ( I'm supposed to be 4'11 but I'm really about 5'1 , John larroquette is a tall drink of water. 🥰😍
I so agree!!!
Is this show back or was this just a special? If it's back, I think it's cool that they continue off the original story instead of an actual reboot.
Is Zabar's that good?
nikolaj from B99 as dans justice buddy
John Larroquette is the only watchable part of this show.
Abbie definitely takes after her father. Harry had that tendency to keep things on the upside too
Dan reminds me of the cranky uncle...drives people nuts. But everybody likes
Anybody want to see an episode where Abby and Rand's wedding's approaching, and Abby asks Dan to give her away?
Dan or no Dan, young people are finished!!!
Dan Fielding was a lot funnier in the original series than he is here.

The 80s called and they want their show back
Dan is the only one worth watching on this show
Pretty much stinks. Actors all behave like they are in a bad junior high play
I get the feeling Dan didn't like kids.
I miss the male chauvinistic alpha don juan Dan Fielding.
Why is Bull not in this
Richard Moll doesn't care for the show, as it effectively typecasted him as a bald headed dim witted goody-goody, killing his more lucrative career as a full head of hair villain type that he did before Night Court.
I haven't seen the show yet, as I'm not fond of the recent flood of classic TV shows being rebooted....
John larroquette is great.that laugh track is making me sick.
John Larroquette is this show's only saving grace.
Dan's nothing like the original. This show as a whole is nothing like the original. If it makes it past season 1 I'll be very surprised.
I like the new show, I wished you'd put some old Dan clips in this video from the Harry Stone version.
How rude can Olivia be real or extremely
She does need to be more like her father, get mad.
Is Olivia rude or uptight
sorry i would stick to the original
Justice better off bank book 📖 😤 🙌 😌 😒 🙃 📖 😤 🙌 house 🏠 🎶 ♥️ 😀 👌 😎 🏠 🎶 ♥️
This isn’t still on the air, is it? What a shame they were allowed to produce this without having to change the name
I loved the original Night Court. I tried watching the reboot and I just cannot find anything funny. Sorry bit even John Larroquette isn't funny anymore!
Trash. Dan Fielding in name only. Totally ripped out the heart of the character
More like.....worst of Dan Fielding. Original any day over this crap.
Plastic surgery always looks so bad
horrible.... not funny like the original
The show stinks. Tank it
John Laroquette is going to win another Emmy.

That best of reel would probably be 5 hours long though :)
@@jessebaker2769 And I would watch it.
