I love seeing rural Australia in such hazy, dreamy tones. Kudos to the cinematographer of this music video. It's epic! Oh, and that dreamy, bewitching voice does help.
A beautiful song: both lyrically and musically. So slow and sparse, but heartfelt and delicate, that the little changes and accents sound so much bigger.
I have just discovered this song on the radio driving in the UK and it absolutely stopped me in my tracks. What a compelling, beautiful masterful storytelling, subtle yet compelling... honestly this is a magnificent song. Haunting. I lived in Melbourne for 3 years and the lyrics took me right back to all those fuckbois and doofs and questionable life choices... brilliant. What a song. What a voice. Today was a good day xxx
What an evocative picture you paint. It's the questionable life choices, and all the scrapes and dents we take on our journey through life, that makes us what we are now. Thank you for your comment, It's got me thinking :)
first time hearing this song- the music started as background noise for my homework and ended with youtube on full screen and me in tears. beautiful song.
Same. I never heard of her before, then this song came on the radio randomly, and stopped me dead in my tracks to listen to it. I've never heard the sadness of giving and wasting yourself, to a doomed relationship, expressed so beautifully...
Oh man you just introduced the cat to a life of addiction × 9 & now you're gonna have to keep supplying the cat with bass (which will kinda make you a dealer🙀) or that cat will be withdrawing at your door 24/7 singing... "I'm totally addicted to bass, meow meow oh" 😻
this track sounds like it took inspiration from the band pure x. the simple, and elegant drums, floating - almost droning guitar and keys with a melancholic vocal melody riding the wave of instrumental bliss. julias music isnt shoegaze obviously, but this track carries some characteristics of shoegaze on its back. beautiful tunes - keep it up!
Dear Julia, thank you for this song and Don't Know How To Keep Loving You. You have angelic voice, took me to places beyond. Keep going like this. xoxo
In case you're wondering (as I was), Katamatite is a town in Victoria, Australia about 46 km north east of Shepparton. At the 2011 census, Katamatite had a population of 433.
She has one of the most original voices in indie music right now. How the feck is she not topping the charts? She, Soccer Mommy and Anna Calvi need to dominate the music industry! 💓💓💓
Why do people want the music they enjoy to DOMINATE so bad? Who cares? If you enjoy it and she's able to keep making music, then that should be enough.
What a beautiful song !!! Added to our Psychedelic Moody Playlist! Lyrics below The police met the plane They let you finish your meal I know you'd like to believe it, baby But you're more kid than criminal Just a boy who could not get through a domestic flight Without lighting up in the restroom Got caught A cloud of smoke, thumb still on the light You looked so proud Couldn't wait to call a friend We had to fly back home Never got the money back for that weekend Right there on the Sydney tarmac I took my luggage down I said, "I'm gonna leave you I'm not a good woman when you're around" That's when the sound came in I could finally see I felt the changing of the seasons All of my senses rushing back to me Go your own way Watch me turn my own head Eyes on the driver, hands in my lap Heading to the city to get my body back I remembered early days When you took my camera Turned to me, twenty-three Naked on your bed Looking straight at you Do you still have that photograph? Would you use it to hurt me? Well, i guess it's just my life And it's just my body I guess it's just my life And it's just my body I guess it's just my life And it's just my body I guess it's just my life And it's just my body I guess it's just my life And it's just my body

I love your songs and your homemade videos. How original. Not only do you give us the haunting melodies, but a visualization of where they came from. I heard someone on Triple J the other day emulating your style so much so I thought it was you.
Even beautiful Julia has to carry her own cross... or..ehm..star ;) Anyway, addicted to slow flow of this song and softness of her voice. And I like, how seldom the drummer touches the cymbal.
I give this song 9 tears out of 10
Me too bro
I'll will give 4 out of 5...
don cry donlu, its just yur body
How does she manage to change the flow and tempo over a repetitive beat! Her voice totally rules the song like I’ve never known
five years ago today 𝓒𝓻𝓾𝓼𝓱𝓲𝓷𝓰 was released and the world was better for it. We love you jj - thank you for this masterpiece 💚

I love how she puts all these feelings together - her meter is off the charts - I call lyrical genius on this right here.
I second that
Kathryn O'Reilly-Dodd Good Call!
Facts. Not a victim . Just tell it.
She’s the star in her own field. Introverts can relate.
yawp! especially when the star falls down
She's likely INFP or INTP would you think?
A whole generation of introverts. Sad
Trying to get out of an abusive relationship and god this speaks volumes without saying much.
Captured all my feelings.
Stay strong! You can and will get through it!
Same, last year. Hope you're out and happy
I did that last year and met the love of my life . I do not regret it just s lesson we pass.
its just your body, they cant ever touch your mind or your soul or your heart... may light be with you through all shadows
I hope you got out...
What a privilege it is to live in the world while you are creating new and incredible music.
This is how I feel !
Definitely a privilege.. all kids should learn music.. all life is music
I've been thinking the same thing. I feel like I don't deserve to listen to this for free.
"do you still have that photograph? would you use it to hurt me?"
devastating

I 've had a "track of the year"since I was10 (1967)this is my "track"of 2019.
I would lovelovelove it if you could please share your track list through the years! If it's not too much trouble or too personal, of course.
@@zlatinapetrova3351 same here!

Not. big thief
"War Pigs" better be your track for 1970 or I don't want it.
This song will be with me for the rest of my life. There are no ways to thank you for that that I know of.
I cry everytime I come here, Julia. So deep is the way I connect with the filth of my past. I guess it's just my life and it's just my body finally...
You know it's a good song, when you just stop what you're doing and listen the first time you hear it.
That's what happened to me! This song stopped me on first listen.
Me too bro
word, i just rewind it, my first time.
exact
I was on bicycle workout when spotify played this for me. I stopped, what is this? Greatest song I found for quite a while.
A beautiful song: both lyrically and musically. So slow and sparse, but heartfelt and delicate, that the little changes and accents sound so much bigger.
dangerous song - listen to it once and you will just put it on repeat for the day.
You are correct sir . Madam . Whatevs. Who cares this song is on
Words could never do this song justice....
That final shot of the distinctively Australian sunset from inside the car. Sublime. Haunting.
Raw, real and simply brilliant.

One of the most beautiful songs ever.
Cried my way through the album. Therapy.
Favourite song, speaking as a former 'that guy'. Julia Jacklin rules.
I love Julia’s songs so much, no other artist sounds like her. I could just listen to her all day every day.
i do
Spencer Porter hahaha same
Check out Angel Olsen
Actually I thought this was a new Feist song. I like it nonetheless.
Reminds me of the band Cat Power
This is just an astounding song...

Wow, she's exactly how I imagined her to be. Fantastic songs by the way.
Her voice is the voice I'm looking for to calm my anxiety and I am living for it.
This is one of those songs that I want to pour my dreams into.
This is fucking wonderful. What a song. Devastating and brilliant in equal measures.
how did I start tearing up before the song started
Was your internet stalling or something?
i wanna cry, ive been listening to your music for the past year everyday and it literally helps me through my day.
seek help, music isn't an effective solution to mental health issues.
@@PeterPerson21 shut up
@@PeterPerson21 Really? Beautiful music like this has helped me through some dark times where so called professional help could not.
Just discovered this thanks to Discover Weekly. It's been on repeat for 3 hours now. I can't do anything else but listen to this.
It's in me.
love this song
And I’m with her every step

Wow! Just discovered this. Stunningly beautiful...great lyrics.
I've loved this song for so long, but I couldn't understand everything she was saying. Now that I can, I understand why it is so powerful.
Surprised there aren't more views. She's splendid. Seen her twice and can't wait to see her again.
just beautiful

Julia's so talented. More people should know about her music.
I heard this song in a podcast and I just got mesmerized
So mad this is *just* out of my range! Love her deep voice
Beautiful sadness... superb song! Bravo Julia!

(Deep breath after listening to this song for most likely the 50th+ time by now cause it still leaves me speechless)

This song is criminally underrated.

The police met the plane
They let you finish your meal
I know you'd like to believe it, baby
But you're more kid than criminal
Just a boy who could not get through a domestic flight
Without lighting up in the restroom
Got caught
A cloud of smoke, thumb still on the light
You looked so proud
Couldn't wait to call a friend
We had to fly back home
Never got the money back for that weekend
Right there on the Sydney tarmac
I took my luggage down
I said, "I'm gonna leave you
I'm not a good woman when you're around"
That's when the sound came in
I could finally see
I felt the changing of the seasons
All of my senses rushing back to me
Go your own way
Watch me turn my own head
Eyes on the driver, hands in my lap
Heading to the city to get my body back
I remembered early days
When you took my camera
Turned to me, twenty-three
Naked on your bed
Looking straight at you
Do you still have that photograph?
Would you use it to hurt me?
Well, i guess it's just my life
And it's just my body
I guess it's just my life
And it's just my body
I guess it's just my life
