That's the sort of route Scoot does well. Scoot is a safe, usually reliable airline with really good value fares. Beyond that, its not very friendly cabin crew and expensive, poor quality food make flights with Scoot a bit burdensome. I would not choose them on a route served by Air Asia or even Jetstar but Penang to Singapore all you need is a reliable bus and Scoot is good for that :)
Certainly worth it for at least four days, but you could spend a month there too. Make sure to do your research when it comes to hotel accommodation. It seems to be on the extremes of superb to dreadful.
Great video, Jayden! I love the gate lice when the aircraft hasn't even arrived yet! Gate lice is such a big problem in the US. It drives me nuts to push through a crowd of people who are in group 7 to be able to board the plane. The flight seemed uneventful at least. I loved seeing Singapore again, especially Marina Bay Sands and the Jewel. I can't wait to get back there!
I googled ‘gate lice’ just now😂 What a funny phrase haha. I just booked a trip to Singapore today! Going on 1 Sep from Shanghai and then Scoot’s premium class to Bangkok. Scoot’s premium is cheaper than SQ economy LOL!
Just been on Scoot too from YIA to SIN! Seems like your crews weren't as friendly as mine tbh. But yeah, sometimes they can be a tad too stern when communicating their requests. Aside from that Scoot, at least from my flight experience, ain't too bad...
Really excellent video and in the Region you can compare Scoot A320s 5J🇵🇭 A320s. full-service carrier versions too if you can like PR A320-214s they have multiple versions one of them is mostly fiesta class PR brand for economy others are split Mabuhay and Fiesta Classes version. Also try scoot to the Philippines from Singapore and later on the SQ B737 Max 8 the triangle routing SQ906 SIN-DVO-CEB🇵🇭-SIN
Hi Jayden. Scoot is a very literally named airline. It's great to " scoot" from A to B.....it gets it's high volume of paying customers by offering a simple, crowded , no frills service. ....and it helps if you are skinny, nimble, and short !😂 I agree with you and others, for flights longer than 60-90 minutes max, it serves a purpose. But for those of us who are "well-rounded", taller, older, frailer, ...or need to take luggage, or even eat/drink...I think it's better to pay more, for the comfort and small perks. Singapore looks cool. That fountain at Changi airport always amazed me when I see it in a video... in fact that whole airport looks amazing !
yep I would've taken SQ if I have more money haha. My inbound flight was right after my United flights from Vancouver and SFO. I was so tired to film the Scoot flight to Penang 🤣 The waterfall hits differently at night!!
"Well-rounded" passengers have the option of Scoot's equivalent of Premium Economy, I think it's called Scoot Plus. But then you're paying something like the full fare airline prices.
I remember going to a Golden Lounge years ago. Don't know if it's still there in PEN. Bloody hell, $6 for that packet of chips?! That's more expensive than OZ! 😅
Took this flight in August. I paid $20 since I had luggage. Flight was on time. Seat was uncomfortable, as all the A32x flights on Scoot are for someone who is 6’2” tall. But it was bearable for the hour. Personal limit is Sing to BKK for 2-1/2 hours. But for Sing to BKK, if I have luggage, I also check SQ and Thai. There are times when the fare, including luggage, is similar. Unlike a comment I saw, I have always felt the Scoot flight attendants were fine and not unfriendly.
@@JaydenWong We’ll be taking ScootPlus from Tokyo to Singapore in November. We took it once before after “bidding” on the upgrade. This time, we booked it from the start. The cost was $390US (one way) while comparable flights on SQ, ANA and JAL were double that. The only downside is it’s a 9AM flight from Narita, so we’ll spend the night out there.
hi Jayden, how long was the wait between the plane arriving and departing as you would have had to wait for the cleaning of the aircraft? how did you get this flight for $15?
Good review. And bonus points for making an in-flight purchase. I'm considering using Scoot in November. This set my mind at ease. So, did you spend more in Starbucks than on the ticket?
Short distance Scoot is good. Long distance you are dealing with less than friendly cabin crew and expensive, unappetising food. If you are going on a route served by Air Asia you might enjoy the flight more. I preorder my food with them and the cabin crew seem to enjoy their job. I would even choose Jetstar (!) over Scoot for mid to long distance.
@@well-blazeredman6187 I don't envy you the LHR to Changi journey. Depending on what you can afford, if I were going from London to Bali on a limited budget I'd think about going with Malaysian or Garuda. I think you'd have to pick up Garuda in the Netherlands. Scoot will get you there but they won't allow you to bring your own sandwiches and their on-board food's expensive and not very palatable. If you can sleep sitting up you might be able to save your appetite until you get to Changi.
Mmm those chips are pricey. As far as budget airlines go, Scoot being Singapore based though means inflight food is all SGD instead of MYR (currency wise, the former is much stronger than the latter), so I think if you're extra budget conscious for this particular route, but still want food on flight, think it would be better to go on AirAsia/Firefly in that regard.
Hi Jayden. One big question is HOW? I wanted to do this trip, but I was told if I went from Singapore to Malaysia, I would require a Yellow Fever Vaccination or risk a possible quarantine period on return to Singapore. I guess you already had the vaccination. Anyway what did you think of Penang? Did you find it interesting? Was there enough to do there, or would the time better be spent in Singapore?. The Singapore Hotels are crazy expensive right now. You can't get much for under $500 AUD with taxes. I tell you, the Airlines should pay you for these trip reports. Your an expert at these. So good.
I've never had a yellow fever vaccine yet. Also never heard that anyone needs it for Malaysia. It just could be a recommendation :) I spent most of my time in Penang with my group of friends. We were there for a birthday party so didn't do too much locally but the city looked cute and chill with great bars and cafe. I would go back
$15 Scoot flight... thats cheap as.. is that Australian dollars. if it is.. wow. you find such bargains. look forward to your next video - at least your not in the icy cold melbourne weather, though the sun has been coming out amongst the clouds.. but still cold.
Hey Jayden, can't say I've been particularly impressed by Penang Airport. However, that Scoot Airways flight leaves a lot to be desired, doesn't it? That this airline is part of the Singapore Airlines group has always baffled me. How can an SQ carrier fall so far short of the mark? That's a question I can't ignore, given the steady complaints from those I know who have flown Scoot. Shame QF don't fly to Athens any more.
Scoot lost my Armani coat, which was in the checked-in luggage, and they refused to compensate for the loss. I followed all the steps and provided all the supporting documents, but the airline refused to compensate for the lost item without explaining why. What is even worse is that Scoot keeps wasting your time by repeating "you should do this and you should do that" again and again. For more than a month, I have been trying to talk to the department which is in charge of this matter, but no one was available. In summary, AVOID SCOOT AT ALL COST if you value your time and money.
I’m sorry to hear! United lost my bag just before this trip and they only compensated me half of what I purchased (new clothes, toiletries etc) Thought I had it worse
the more i see these videos, my buyer's remorse grows . wish me luck, i chose scoot for a direct flight to narita in july this year. 9hrs..atleast the flight there is a redeye.

I would love to go to Singapore. It's definitely on my bucket list. As always, great trip report Jayden!❤✈
some many great hotels and intra-Asia/Australasia cruise opportunities from there, I think you'll like it! :)

The "failed to connect to wifi" made me laugh out loud - sums up my scoot experience!
Amazing video you got there, Jayden!
Hi Jayden thank you for the video. Scoot looked ok for a short flight price very good. Singapore very clean place hope you enjoyed your stay.

How did you make so many friends in Singapore? You might as well move here and its pretty central to both HK, AU and many other places as well.
haha every single one of my friends I met who live Singapore are from airport lounges (New Delhi more specifically) or UA-cam 🤣
Grand Mercure for me was very dated, they need to refurbish especially for the price. Great location though, Katong has so much great food places
yep I chose Mercure/Katong for the location, I liked taking the bus straight to the airport :)
I feel so sorry for the cabin crew on your flight. They all give me that vibe like they do not want to be there!
When flying from Singapore to: Krabi, Chang Mai, Siem Reap or Bangkok what’s your preferred airline & why? Thanks!
Bangkok- Gulf Air, I like 5th freedom
Krabi, Chang Mai, Siem Reap, well I could really only pick Scoot lol
