100% agree with your great points on the wireless charging vs fast charging topic. Personally, I'm not the kind of person that needs my phone to constantly have a lot of charge. If stop charging at 85%, then plug it in when it hits 25%. Fast charging fits my lifestyle and I prefer it over wireless. Actually, my current phone has wireless charging and I never use it.
YEEEES! I get unreasonably upset over how angry other people get over the lack of wireless charging. Some people calling it a 'deal-breaker' I'd almost get it if it had slow charging but 65 watt charging?! 0-100 in less than an hour?! A deal-breaker to me would be camera quality or TERRIBLE battery life not wireless charging.
💯 WE DO REMEMBER THAT THE PURPOSE OF THE OUTSIDE SCREEN ISN'T TO GIVE YOU A BIG SCREEN. IT DOES WHAT IT'S SUPPOSE TO AND WHEN YOU REALLY NEED TO MULTI-TASK AND ALL THAT JAZZ, YOU OPEN TO THE BIGGER SCREEN 🤦🤦♀️Who will buy a folding phone that they don't need to open? 🤔🤔🤔
If oppo can put a dumb 4th speaker grille that doesn't emit sound at all on the phone for whatsoever reason, having wireless charging option available will surely not be asking for too much. 😂
I agree its a superior tech, but having both to choose from would be nice. I have a ton of wireless chargers at home and work so it would be convenient to set it on one when I need a little top off, but its not a deal breaker.
I got my Open this past Friday and it's fantastic! Love the form factor especially. I traded in my z fold4 and got the Open for 240 with the trade in and bonus. Crazy! The only thing is there are no cases that are even worth looking at, the one that's in the box is meh, but will do for now for just for scratch protection, but I've decided to rock the Open without it. Oh, and the battery life out of the box is actually impressive, even with downloading apps and all. Oh, and I just ordered the Oppo pen. I'm sure OnePlus will have one avaible at some point down the road, but might as well try out the Oppo one.
How did you get such a sweet deal? I have the Z fold 4 which I bought second-hand and it's a brilliant device but I do like the look or the form factor and charging speed of the One Plus Open.
@@sengtang8576 It was part of the pre orders. Got 800 to trade in the fold 4, the instant 200 that all pre orders got even with no trade and there was a 300 bonus on top of the whole deal. It was a no brainer for me.
Finally someone pointed out that you get 16/512 configuration for that money compared to Z Fold5's 12/256 base model. And for less money. And with bigger battery, and brighter displays. The list goes on. Keep up the good work Adam 😎
Its funny that tis was the same notion about the phablet way back. Everyone was like "who wants to carry around a large screen phone (5.3") which is common place nowadays. I remember being laughed at with the original note phone. Well look who laughing now...Joking. I have been pleased with the open so far. I just need the accessories to become available to properly protect it.
I love this phone. I currently have all 3 (fold 5, pixel fold, and OnePlus open). None are perfect in every way but this one gets really close. I honestly just wish it had a Dex like feature. I feel kind of stupid using mine with it connected to my AR glasses and having everything still displaying on the screen as well. At least with Dex it switches to the trackpad and I can also turn the screen off while watching videos or content on the glasses. That's the only real thing I wish they included and it really is just a software feature so hopefully they add it some time down the line
Can't wait for mine to get here. Thank you for finally saying the wireless charging is not a big deal. I get that it can be a nice feature but I like to continue using my phone while charging AND the super fast charging easily makes up for putting it down to charge for over an hour. 👍👍👍
I have the OnePlus Open and love it! It's everything I want in a foldable. I have ordered the Oppo Pen to try the stylus support. Looking forward to that!
Foldables at this point is like years ago with the large form factor note series of smartphone. Critics said those would never take big form factor phablet type smartphones would never take off. Now that's basically all our phones. Folding phones are here to stay
We just got snow today lol. I got my Open last Friday and my GOODNESS is the battery life phenomenal. I'd rather shoot photos/videos on my 1v but these cameras are pretty dang good!
I was given $800 as trade value for my OnePlus 11 leaving me with another $800 to pay out of pocket. I think I'd rather wait for the OnePlus 12 I'm sure is going to be awesome as well. Nonetheless OnePlus open is an astonishing device
That is a rather remarkable trade-in. Especially, when you factor in that the OnePlus 11 costs $800 brand new. Of course, that is for the highest tier model. It's almost unbelievable. I own the same phone and maybe I should check that out.
I might trade in my Z Fold4 for the OnePlus Open, but I have not decided yet. The Z Fold4 has been a great phone over the past year, but the outer display is starting to bother me.
I haven't gotten into the wireless charging yet. I have a couple of phone that can do it but my thinking is that I can plug the phone in and I have a wire running to the wall or I can lay it in a wireless charger that has a wire running to the wall.... I'm sure there may be a case where it's convenient but It's not something that matters to me.
I've had the OnePlus Open since Friday and while I can't say it's the best foldable phone on the market, because it's literally the only folding phone I've ever had, but I can say it's completely sold me on the experience. There's really just two things I don't understand. I don't understand why they didn't wait a couple of weeks and use the newest SD 8Gen 3 in it. And I don't understand why they didn't wait a little bit to release it with OxygenOS 14! I mean spending $1,500 or so makes that 4 years of software updates seem like a minimum and when that first year is only a month or two long it's effectively only 3 years. Not that I'm really bothered by it but only because as much as I love it it's only a place holder until Samsung releases a Zfold with the same 20:9 aspect ratio. Because as much as I like the OnePlus Open and OxygenOS, OneUI will always be my favorite OS.
@@maxpecas2 it's absolutely just a question of taste! The OnePlus Open is undeniably an awesome device and I'm not sorry I bought it. But personally I just prefer OneUI🤷

I would love to know what you think of the voice texting and voice features as compared to the pixel. My biggest concern is that, as far as I knw, OnePlus doesn't have the Google voice model on the chip the way Pixels do, so voice commands need to be sent back and forth to the cloud.

This "dead pixel" comments...either they hate OnePlus or they are brand fans for Samsung. I mean come on, I really couldn't give a damn about the brand as long as it gives good bang for the buck & it's overall review is good.
I'm more than sure if I was to search Google for "dead pixel" for the very first Samsung foldable or any new foldable device for that matter, i'm more than sure I would find a complaint out there!
Exactly as you say, just contact the damn company & request a replacement. Not a reason to not buy any device (unless ofcourse there were thousands of "dead pixel" reports !)
Nope, I'm still z fold 5. I don't care about reviews. There are the same people who told me not to by z fold 5.
People make a big deal foldables are here to stay if you dont like it dont buy it and keep it moving i personally like slabs but im ok with foldables
That's a 3 generation Oppo phone rebranded under One Plus the real truth same phone one for China or for US and Europe. They are one the 4th Foldable had almost 4 years to bring to our market truth. It's good but not perfect no wireless nor completely waterproof plus if damage where to get fix.
it would certainly be a good idea to invest in a decent microphone. your sound is very poor compared to the content
I have a very nice microphone. Working on dialing it in since I changed a few weeks ago. It has improved but it’s not ideal yet
And I found the "Gimmick" comment. 😂😂
Don’t have to look far 😂
@@TechOdyssey bruh it was the 1st comment. 😂
yes.. all foldable phones are not mature enough and will never be.. these phones start showing their true color after few months of usage. but you will never know because you never use a phone for more than 2-3 months
Funny how obvious it is you have zero clue what you’re talking about.
How long before it gets A14?
Hopefully soon. My Pixel Fold still doesn’t have it 😂😅
your mic needs to be louder
What smartwatch is compatible with this phone
Ones you can use with Android
I can see why they didnt market the pen. Thats $130 dollars 😭😭 ill probably still get it... Warranty process on Samsung is a nightmare just ask redit 😂
The One Plus Open isn't a first generation device.
How many foldable phones has OnePlus made? I’ll wait.
@TechOdyssey it's the same phone as the Oppo find n3 fold and maybe you don't know BBK Electronics owns both Oppo and One Plus.
@@YankeesGiants I’m well aware. But it’s also the first OnePlus foldable. It is however the third Oppo foldable, and this one is based on the Find N3, of course running oxygen OS and a few other changes. It’s officially the first OnePlus has made though.
@@TechOdyssey you mean released under the One Plus name.
I got mine for a little over $300. But debating on putting it on eBay or not to make a quick buck.
Soft recorded volume
It's nothing but an oppo find n 3 same phone just different os
Can I use Oppo N3 cases for the OnePlus open?
Unsure
