Hi Kenji, you did it again! ✨ This explanation is so good especially in FS recruiting. It's really thrown around so much. Can you also please cover next time roles of Front , Middle, and Back office positions like a summary in the FS industry? Thank you and truly supporting your channel!
You are the man Kenji. You should do a video for up and coming invest bankers. Eg. Sophomore analyst positions, certifications that are helpful (Bloomberg, SIE, etc. )
Hi Kenji! Really enjoyed this video, was a very clear explanation of how both sides work. Was wondering if you have any thoughts on GPs vs LPs? i.e. How are the career paths different? Difference in compensation, etc
Hey Kenji, Think thrice before you answer these... .Which one do you think is the best for exit oppurtunities into private equity ? (In Current Scenario & Future) 1) M&A Analyst at Elite Boutique IB 2) Leveraged Finance Analyst at Bulge Bracket IB ( Like J.P.M ) 3) Technology Analyst, who deals with [ all Product Groups at Bulge Bracket IB ] or Elite Boutique IB ( Like Qatalyst Partners ) & .Which amongst above is best to stay permanently way until Director ? i.e The One which compensates most salary in case of permanent stay in IB. Please help me out with these two questions.
Love this videos, thanks mate! For instance, from going from a Big4 to the buy side, would you say there are big difference from consulting vs assurance?
Thanks! I'd say it's more common from Big4 deals advisory or management consulting. But the buy side is so large that there's probably a good number of opportunities for financial audit/assurance too
Can you break into buy side like Private equity, asset management, hedge funds, especially after college if you have great communication skills? Other than great communication skills what else do you need like hard skills? Should I take up Financial edge courses? I was already doing CMA(USA) but kinda get interested into getting into buy side?
Hey, communications skills are useful but for analytical roles they're not the top priority. Common skills in the buy side are financial modeling, corporate finance, accounting, and excel (also depends on how front-office your role is). If you don't feel confident with these skills, you can always check out some of the FE courses, or our courses as well: learn.careerprinciples.com/courses/finance-valuation-course
In BB M&A you're advising for a client, while in PE you're executing the deal with PE funds money. So quite different dynamic when you're an advisor or a buyer
Hi Kenji, I just want to know your opinion. I'm currently working in the commercial bank for 2 years Do you think it's still possible to move into investment banking?
Hey it’s hard to say without much information about your previous experience/education…what area of commercial banking are you in? Overall, it’s not a typical or easy move but if you know the right people in IB anything is possible
Yeah. I currently work at ICBC Bank in Indonesia branch. My current area is corporate banking which is about credit facility and trade finance.. What do you think about corporate finance prospect?
