1926: This is a brand new elevator, state of the art.
2019: You've got mail
I watch this video every few months. Just as awesome as ever.
Nice And Smooth Indoorless OTIS Elevator!
Nice and Smooth! I couldn't expect such a smooth operating Elevator from the 1920's. Great!
This elevator now has since been modernized, BUT the crank is still there!
Good to hear they kept at least something from the original
Thats kinda sad to hear, because it was beautiful
last time i saw a manual control was in the 1960s and i was refurbishing it. great video.
One on left was modified to become a newer elevator but one on right is still in 1926 state.
Actually, the one on the right isn't running, I stayed here and the right car was not in service.
i have learned a lot about elevators sense i have been watching your videos they are very enteresting i enjoy them

Beautiful vintage Otis
I'm actually surprised that this video hasn't reached 1M views yet! Do these lifts still live?
At the end of the video, when you rode the other Elevator and you pressed 6, and the Elevator did not go, the reason for that is because that floor is locked off, and it was actually flashing, expecting you to enter a code.
Wow, the door safety circuits have been defeated. I assume this elevator is nornally turned off. But isn't it a bit of a safety problem for the staff? What if they accidently get into the basement?
My dad he was 4 year old in 1924 that awesome riches family
Lol from Elevators From Sweden And DieselDusy
That is so amazing!!! Great video!
That elevator looked odd not having the scissor gate on it, I like the old school Otis Elevators with the inner scissor gate doors on them, I'm sure those elevators that still have the scissor gate doors have been updated with today's technology
I hate to say it, but these needed it.
At least they kept the crank.
Thark you otis. Visits 34B+ hotel.
safest elevator to use. if the thing gets stuck. you can get out
TeraBite Gaming Wrong! Elevators without inner doors are dangerous which is why they are ILLEGAL in the U.S.
Or it can slice a manz arm
@@Ih8kone dont you ever learn when you need to shut up and stop being an obnoxious pos
@@Ih8konethey are not dangerous if you know how to safely and properly use them
It’s very nice. They should put inner doors.
Hope they have resolved the safety issues with the interlocks, and the wiring beneath the elevator cab.
You can see that this elevator had an inner scissor / mesh door at one time by the track visible in the lower brass edge and the original inner door could have been manually opened or open automatically when the car stops at a floor level, and only the outer door is lever to open, I have seen both in buildings and residences as well. In residences the outer door is Push/pull or if bypass it is automatic and the operation of the elevator is completely automatic, I have seen completely automatic Otis elevators in residences as early as 1914 and that one still works perfectly.
Wow. 1914 original with fully automatic doors?
@@HeritageElevators No this one is an Otis and has very nice manual brass and glass bypass outer pocket doors for each of the four floors of travel and a brass scissor door on the car also manual, the doors are very, very easy to operate, like easier than most sliding exterior doors. What I meant by fully automatic is the call button on each floor will call the car and the buttons in the car let you select your desired floor all with you as the rider the only operator.
@@brettster3331 Ok thanks. It made me wonder how old the oldest set of automatic doors is
so this would've been almost 100 years old if it was still original now but it was probably modernized by now
It looks like they were planning on modernizing this elevator too
it's a shame u didn't get the machine room. I like seeing the motors of these old beasts
That's awesome!
Real old school
Pretty lucky! With a know UA-camr.
love it
Me: No Inner Door? That’s Dangerous.
Heritage Elevators: Then try the other elevator comes with inner door. It’s Safer for you.
The walls remind me of the bessborough in Saskatoon Canada 🇨🇦
You got mail..

very nice way how they've renovated it
Where is the car gate? I don't see one.
It is!!!!!!
Is there a special reoson, that they still use these old technics. The elevators look nice but especially the door arrangement looks not so nice and not very inviting for a hotel.
When I see th condition of the basement stop without door and all the cable under the cabin I think in most parts of europe it would be impossible to operate such an elevator. I am a bit surprized to see this from and civilized country.
It's a very hazardous condition with those frayed electrical cables beneath the elevator cab plus the cable laying along the pit bottom. Beneath the elevator cab are at least two traveling cables with multiple insulated conductors within the jacket for the floor buttons, light, fan, emergency alarm/stop phone door control. Traveling cables are used in manually controlled elevators liked this one, thick cables (needed with the high current draw) at least 4 cables
Did yall hear the "you've got a mail"?

epic usa without inner doors OMG

That's an awesome building and awesome elevator. What building was this? I would love to check this out.
how do you call the manually operated elevator? And is that one the freight elevator?
Other lift is not go basement.
The elevators is very dangerous, but beautiful ;)
Why is there an elevator with no inner doors
This is the same video made the same time by dieselducy
Otis should take notice of this
This elevator is totally unsafe to use.
Is the original modernized
this had a gate originally
So hilarious 😆
What is hola
The one on the left was replaced and has inner doors.
When you pressed the 6th floor button, it looks like you have to enter a passcode by pressing the correct floor buttons on the panel in the correct sequence like this elevator: ua-cam.com/video/Yx4Ua8QG77o/v-deo.html.
That guy is Dieselducy
