The prime 2 varia is such a good design. I remember obsessing over every detail of it when I played Hunters as a kid. I was always so disappointed that they never used this version in smash bros.
The blue multiplayer Varia recolour shares the same colour palette as Metroid Prime’s Core from MP1. My first thought was of Metroid Prime and Dark Samus in this game. For the Varia suit ingame, I prefer the iteration from MP1 - especially the Remastered version. That is the definitive version to me. I enjoy the Dark Suit, especially with the Gravity function installed. Steampunk Samus isn’t something I thought I wanted to see, and I’m pleased we got it. As for the Light suit - Kopaka was always my most favourite Bionicle warrior.
0:52 Varia Suit shown here is actually is a different design from in the game version. The lights on the chest are asymmetrical and the leg armor is shown to have a different shape. Dark Suit really grew on me, like it alot. In the concept art you showed the arm cannon was planned to change brown just like the suit itself that would of been interesting. Light Suit I think is the coolest looking suit in the series. I think if the visor being gold and the armor lights being gold too, think would of made it look better I think.
Dark Suit higher than Light Suit is a bold and unexpected take. While I don't agree, I do think the Dark Suit gets way more hate than it deserves. Prime 2 in general has great suits.
Some of the best suits in the franchise. One represents the prime series, two represent echoes and 5 that are…… there. A good line lineup, not my favs though. Pretty much an evolution from the prime 1 Varia suit, pretty good . The dark suit is….. more controversial, while some absolutely despise it others love it. A very interesting design. The light suit I’d say is below the dark suit. The dark suit was so unique and mysterious however the light suit does have these features, but I don’t connect to it for some reason.
Going from the dark suit to the light suit feels like going from JoJo part 3 character design to JoJo part 4 character design But yeah fr if the visor had been gold the light suit would be near peak
If (when) Echoes gets a remaster, they absolutely need to make the light Suit's visor more opaque (icing on the cake would definitely be to keep the visor and lights amber but I won't hold my breath). I always find that the Dark Suit really comes into its own once the Gravity Boost and grapple beam fill in the negative spaces. Would be super neat if they took inspiration from the concept art that depicts the arm cannon as adopting the dark suit's color scheme.
I know it was cause of development time and it wouldve been a lot of work but i’d have LOVED if they were able to do what the concepts showed and did the arm cannons where they matched up with the dark and light suits instead of that being the one thing that doesnt change
Prime 2 and 3 perfected the Varia suit design. The Dark and Light suits were fantastic, too. I like that Retro made new suits to match Samus' journey instead of relying on the same suits from the classic titles.
Yeah. Tallon was a Chozo planet, so using the traditional suits fit well. Aether had suits matching the Luminoth, and in 3 we get the GF suit. It's really cool.
There's so much about the dark suit that could've worked, but the gigantic disk shoulders and the metal thong just kill it for me. The light suit, on the other hand, is one of my all-time faves. My only issue with it is the knees, which I think look kinda silly, but other than that, I think it's just about perfect.
Growing up I never liked the Dark Suit because it was so different from her usual suits but now as an adult I love it for how different it is.
Same I didn't know what to think of it at first but it grew on me over time, especially because of how useful it is.
It manages to look like heavy space armor, something more organic but also like a ceremonial armor.
I really love it.

Best 3d metroid in existence, scary, compelling, beautiful, it was everything we wanted from metroid
As a kid, I loved the Dark Suit because of 2000s edge.
As an adult, I love the Light Suit because of its sleek look.

Metroid suit design peaked at the Dark Suit IMO. Nothing has topped that color palette or the uniqueness of the pauldron shape.
