Side-note: Isa and I are not Catholic, but most of my family is. We just really love festivals and celebrations. To us, Easter is usually much more low-key, spent with family, eating lots of food, and watching the little ones search for Easter eggs.

Apparently the costumes haven't changed since the 1500's when they started this celebration. We were definitely not expecting that!
So glad to find this. Our family will be visiting Italy in April and will be in Florence on Easter Sunday. We will have to see this.

I managed to get inside the Duomo during easter mass back in 2004, I had no idea at the time any of this stuff was going to be happening. Was incredibly surreal.

Right?! We were very lucky to be in Florence for Easter. Such a special time of year to be there.
Was there for that Easter, 2008. We were in the cathedral, saw the dove fly out and ignite the cart. Like the Blitz.
Such a crazy experience!
