We were cutting the grass and we noticed a small baby bunny it had a cut on its back we are trying to save it the best we can and all I hope is that it will be ok
Brilliant -this is exactly the “How To” that I clicked to see. I’m an old guy who’s used to working with cinder blocks, really needed a demo of how to treat this delicate little guy. Wish us both luck 🤞
Thank you for this! My neighbours dog found a bunny nest and we were able to save one that we thought had succumbed to injury. He’s a little fighter and I took him in. He’s been soooo amazing and this helped so I could feed him without hurting his wounds. First night I fed him and he peed straight up in the air, all over my shirt. Now I know better!!😝
Having rescued 2 wild kits from my naughty dog who had found and dug out the burrow. I found out a pair of old wool and mohair mix gloves as the face cloth was awkward with the wriggling! I found these so good at holding the babies when I feed them. I kept quite a lot of the destroyed nest and the kits are now sleeping soundly in their makeshift nest of an old car wash mitt! Here is hoping they survive to tell the tale!
Thank you! Needed this kind of how to. The articles I read made very little sense and rambled on about how you should avoid saving them..like yes, I get that and am beyond it - now I need to know how to save them! And the few other videos I came across weren’t much more help.. This one is better, so thank you. I hope I can keep these little guys alive until the rehabber is able to come for them in a couple days.
I have been feeding my baby cotton tail with a pet store bought baby bottle(very tiny)....We have been putting a mixture of KMR/10%cream/Plain yoghurt and a bit of powder from a Pro Biotic capsule(Bio K, you have to keep this in the fridge!).....We had 5 babies, 2 died because of injuries(the dog dug them up, Mom didn't come back) and the other 2 died overnight. This is my first(and hopefully last)experience with baby cottontails and I have been up all night to feed the only one left! I was heartbroken when the other ones passed on, but like a lot of people are saying/writing that these creatures are so fragile and the mothers milk is so hard to mimick. I suggest everyone out there that finds a nest to do a bit of research(like I am still doing after day3)and prepare to have your heart broken. My worries for this little creature is almost as much as having a real human baby in the house! I want him/her to make it! Good luck, prayers and best wishes may you stumble across a nest of these little, cute, but oh so fragile little critters.🙏🏻
Cottontails do not need to be fed constantly. Maybe 2-3 times today max. Hopefully you aren't feeding every couple of hours? Hope that last baby survives!
There was a baby cottontail that was abandoned by his mom that I took care of. I used small plastic disposable miniature cups filled with water when it was hot out when he was laying down in the sun. He's all grown up now, and still eats near me because he feels safe. I named him Cheddar.
my bunny had 5 babies but she's been neglecting them. . i been trying to take care of them but its too hard 3 have died already and the other 2 are barely alive im so upset i just can't stop crying i don't know what to do
I just had a litter of orphaned rabbits that i have been trying to save and it is very hard not to aspirate them out of 10 rabbits i had two that i thought were going to make it on the morning that one of the baby's opened its eyes one died . The one that opened its eyes was really doing well and actually just started to drink water on his own and nibble on some lettuce .. I woke up this morning and he was running all around the cage excited . I gave him a bottle of goats milk . put him back in the cage . He ran two laps around the cage . rolled over and cried a little and died . I believe he was bound up and not going to the bathroom as much as he should have been .I could be wrong but thats the only thing i can think of..
Don't worry, you've done your best and the worst thing you can do is blame yourself. It would've happened in nature quicker and lots of baby rabbits are orphaned. Take them to an Animal Shelter to be properly cared for if you have anymore baby rabbits from the litter~ :3
Geo1Ronnie my bunny had 5 baby's on her first litter she was still young so she didn't know what to do I tried to feed them but I only got the last baby alive but it was a peanut baby so it didn't live through the night but after a couple of weeks we found out she was pregnant again and this time she had 5 more baby's and they all lived but when the first litter died I cried for 3 days sometimes it's jut not meant to be
i have a baby bunny and we feed him/her goat milk with a little bit of heavy cream. we feed him/her once in the morning and once at night and we use a small bottle with a dropper on the end.
thank you for showing how to do this. just a couple minutes ago, my parents took our dog out and he was trying to play with a baby bunny that was recently born a couple days ago and bite her a very small, not deep cut. she is in a small box filled with cotton, a small sweater material rag, and a blanket. since it’s currently the pandemic, i can’t take it to the wild shelter since they’re close and the bunny’s parents appear very often in our backyard. we’ll take care of her small wound and feed her and see if her parents come back to try to find her or if they appear, we will try to place her with some food so they investigate the box with her. we have taken care of other animals like birds but they’re different so thank you for teaching me how to feed them and make them potty.💛
Thank you for this video, very well done, good info and clear steps. Was wondering how often do you feed the kit? Hourly, am and pm, 3 times a day? Thanks again
I have been using a dropper to feed them ( i gave colostrum too) and rubbing bellies to stimulate going to the bathroom, but 2 baby kits died within a day and half, just one is left. :( I ordered a nipple and probiotic for them but it is not here yet. My dog picked them up from a mud puddle in a lightening storm and its been 40 degrees at nite. I want to return them to their mom but the weather has been cold. Your video has been the best! I know some went to the bathroom because I saw it on the white rag but I am not sure if all 3 did. :(
Not sure if this applies to rabbits but baby Pandas bred in China zoos had a very low survival rate without their mother until they discovered that the mother licks the babies belly stimulating their bowel movements. When the breeders used a wet cotton ball and rubbed the baby's bellies, they had a very high survival rate.
Omg this helped so much. I'm orphaning 2 baby bunnies. They were freezing cold and wrinkly the mom was killed by my dog. There were 4 babies, my puppy was trying to play and killed 2
Thank God I watched this. I totally forgot about them having to pee and everything. It's my first time having a rabbit totally reject her kits, as it several are missing ears and I have no idea if they are going to survive that. I doubt the one that is missing a leg will, but I will try. Probably cry a lot but I still try.
Hi mam about the formula milk if no goats milk in our country only alphine and alaska evaporated milk are available on our country can i use this kind of milk?
Tiffany Frost-TeeDiddlyDee Mam, I respect you for your nobel work. Is there any way if we could take a look how he looks now? Today my rabbit gave birth as well, so I'm really curious. Thank you!
If my baby kit is pooping on his own does that mean he's urinating on his own as well? It's hard to tell since it could easily be absorbed by the towel in his enclosure. She's probably about 2 weeks old BTW, and her eyes were already open when we retrieved her.
May I ask what formula do you use? I came across a nest when I was weeding & nicked one of the babies. I removed her & tended to her wound. We used pedialite and goat's milk with a tiny bit of probiotic. I held her all that day and the next morning until we took her to a rehab place. We have had baby southern & northern flying squirrels since 2009. I alway's do the feeding's. Unfortunatly, the baby had a seizure & passed away soon after. Now, I'm wondering if I should have just commited to keeping her & doing my best. I just feel terrible.
Very nice video. After they get a bit older, do you teach them to eat plants or clover before letting them go in the wild? Or is it just natural for them to feed on plants at that point? Thanks!
how do you prevent aspiration? it looks like you feed you orphaned ones the same way... I am taking care of 5 right now, and I think 2 are dying from inhaling the milk and getting pneumonia:(
Hi! Super wondering how much you feed them from the dropper?? I've been feeding mine about a full dropper if I can- but I think I might be overfeeding or feeding too little as it has no measurements on the dropper itself... Is half a dropper the way to go?
Newborn to 1 week rabbits require 2-2.5 cc/ml of milk formula, 1-2 weeks litter require 5-7cc/ml milk formula, 2-3 weeks old litter require 7-13 cc/ml, and 3-6 weeks old rabbit require 13-15cc/ml. This is given twice a day. **always go very, very slowly! If milk is given to quickly, they can aspirate (milk gets into their lungs) and they’ll die. It can also get in their nose very easily. Always feed while they’re upright. And they must be stimulated to go potty or they’ll die. (pee, they can poop on their own.) Also, once they have all their fur in (looks like mom but very miniature sized) ears are open and up, and it’s jumping around… if you find one like this, unless you know 100% it’s in danger and you need to relocate it or get it to a wildlife shelter, then please don’t move them. At that age/size, they’re on their own. Mom let’s them go but usually isn’t too far. They are capable of taking care of themselves. Please be responsible when dealing with wildlife. Yes, they’re adorable, but know that only about 10% live once humans intervene. It’s really sad. Some do their best, but just don’t have the proper information. Like, what to feed them. That’s a huge one and one that can kill overnight. Some die screaming!😭 (all bc someone wanted to “help”.) Never feed them cows milk. Not even other pet formulas are ok. Must be a very specific, like “KMR” and we must know how much and how often to feed, as well as how to care for all their other needs. Best rule to go by is if you find one out of a nest, or maybe your dog brought one to you, look for the nest, as long as it’s not badly injured. Their nests usually have pulled grass (by momma bun) on top and can be a little difficult to find until you know what you’re looking for… but once you move the grass or top covering the mom has used, you’ll see the baby bunnies (siblings if still around) in the nest. There will also be Mom’s fur inside the nest. She pulls it out when making the best to keep her babies warm while she is away all day. (She only comes once in the early morning and once in the evening for about 4-5 mins. That’s it. Also why so many think she isn’t around and the babies are orphans when really they’re not.) Put the baby back in the nest, cover up the nest the way it was, as best you can, and that’s it. You may have just saved that baby bun’s life!!🥰 If you find one badly injured, please call a wildlife specialist or veterinarian for further instructions. Thank you for anyone who took the time to read this. I have cared for wildlife orphans my whole life, so I’m very passionate about it. Thanks for letting me share a little of what I know to hopefully pass along something useful to others.🙏🏼Love & blessings to all!❤️
We found a litter of baby bunnies. A dog that lived nearby had dug out their den and killed one of the five and caught the mom somehow. One of the babies is a little skinned in one spot, looks like it needs to be cleaned a little, another has a broken leg and the other two seem okay. We don't know when they ate last, they look to be around a week or so old and they haven't opened their eyes yet. It's been pretty difficult to feed them, they aren't used to the syringe we have. We don't know a lot about rabbits and would appreciate if anyone any advice for us. Thank you.
I have a baby bunny who seems to be struggling latching on to the ma so I've been bottle feeding it, it's been day 5 and I'm still not sure if it's fed enough when I feed it, it definitely does give the "no more" signal, but I'm not sure if I should keep feeding it or not. Would there any physical signs that they may be getting a bit fuller by my feeding or would they have to digest everything first to get the plump belly?
i recently found 2 baby rabbits in my backyard and moved them to the front yard so my dogs wouldn’t eat them. i felt bad because it’s been super rainy and kinda cold so i put them under a bush on a down and wrapped them up a little and made a tiny shelter for them but idk how old they are or how to care for them
I need help ASAP. we just found a baby bunny abt as small as yours. How often should I feed it and how much? Can I give it whole milk or do I need to dilute it? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Hi, I know this video is old, but I have s few questions. I found a nest out my window and noticed something was disturbing the kits. And I went back out and there were only two kits left, one was all scratched up and missing a toe. So I figured i’de wait a day to see if mamma would come back, she never did, As she probably knew something got her bunnies. I took them in and they were 2 days old. I got kitten milk replacer. sadly the scratched up one died. I only gave one left and I’m really hoping it will live!! It acts fine, it’s very Energetic and loves to scratch its towel. I feed it twice a day or 3 if needed. It poops and pees good. It’s now 5 days old and I feel like I’m doing the job it’s needed for it. I would really like to know if a syringe is better then a bottle? And if it needs anything added to the milk? How did you take care of yours?? I would really appreciate any answers. Thanks.
My dog brought in 2 wild newborn kittens, maybe a couple days old, Monday, they still don't have their eyes open, I have been feeding them kitten replacement and heavy cream, today they both drank 2 and 1 half droppers each. That's the most each have ate since Penny brought them in. Eyes still closed. Hopefully by Monday or Tues they will have them open. She was so gentle with them like they were newborn pups. I understand that their eyes will open around 8 - 10 days? There's no way I can release them after they get older, if they make it, my son has beagles and I have a cat, so I have them in a small bird cage for now, so the cat won't get them, if he happens to get in the same room. I will build them a pen to attach to my building.
I made a mistake taking them out the nest I thought it was abandoned turns out the mother was gonna feed it until we destroyed the nest by mistake. We left it there in a new container and she didn't come back. So now I have to feed it with KMR (Kitten milk replacer). Today is the day after I found it. I had to buy KMR today and feed it to them. It was hard so I'm researching online to see the proper way to do it properly.
What type of milk should I feed newborn bunnies? Our rabbits had two bunnies and she isn’t feeding her babies so It’s looking like im going to have to use this method
how often are you feeding them and at any point do you switch to vegetation or will they be released by that point. I just found 3 that the dog dug up and the mother hadn't been back. Wanna know what to expect and do with them....
I fed my little guy every 4 hours and at about 2 weeks old I started offering him fresh grass from outside. Then when he was about 4 weeks old, I set his cage outside with the door open with so that he could go to and from his water and shelter if he needed it. Eventually he learned how to fend for himself and didn't come back to his cage anymore.
HELP I rescued a baby bunny about 3 weeks old from my dog and fixed his leg up. His mom won't take him back. I am using a dropper to feed him but he only drinks about one mililetir of milk per feeding. I read that he needs about 7 per feeding. I am going to replace the normal milk I'm using with cat milk. I don't know how to feed him because he is so stubborn!
I'm currently fostering an orphan. I pet him sometimes and I have him in a warm shirt. He was pretty jumpy when I first put him in the box but now he calmed down and I think he's sleeping. I don't know. His eyes haven't opened yet. I named him Max
I might be blind but I couldn't find any update videos for this. Did you release this bun, or continue raising it? How are they doing now? I feel like if they were kept as a domestic pet, they'd be excellent around people!
Hey there I rescued 3 kits 5 days ago and I've been feeding them but they don't eat much they're really skinny. I try to give them more but they don't want to they don't drink it. What should I do?
i found one just today outside my house and i cant seem to get it to eat, im not sure if its going to survive because it has small bite marks and one one of his sides theres puss coming out alittle bit
Hi I have a baby bunny that my rabbit had and the mom killed all of the others but this one. I was wondering what formula to feed it and when to feed it. When I ask when to feed it people usually say I feed this rabbit every 2 hours or so. When do you feed this baby bunny. Please comment ASAP I desperately need help and lots of it.
Ok so help me out please I just rescued one last night, he has some head swelling from being dropped two feet off the ground from a bird, but he’s alive and he’s a fighter, he lived through the night and the first few hours. Do I stimulate him right after I feed him? His eyes aren’t open yet :( he’s like 5 days and little
My dog attacked a young bunny, she can walk and has fur but is still milking. We looked for the mother, but no sight. We took her in and it was freezing the night we found her. She loves to suckle the milk and burrow into a blanket or into your neck. But the dog started to like the bunny and the bunny would look for her nipple on her stomache when she's hungry. We decided to name her April.
A day ago I found a dead bunny in the road, and just today I found 6 tiny bunnies in a nest. 4 if them already died and I just cleaned the other two and fed them. This is going to be tough!
Guyssss I need help, I have rescued many Bunnies but this is different. This little guy, he won’t drink the milk while the others do BUT he is super active and don’t know what’s wrong with him??
Well normally the momma bunny is usually close by...but if the baby has been brought in by a pet dog or cat from afar, it may need to be cared for if it's still too young and drinking milk
My rabbit had a litter ages ago and she only gave birth to a single baby we got her pregnant again she had 5 but 2 died and the baby’s are 6 days now but she’s neglecting them any advice and what milk x?
my rabbit had 5 babies, but she's been avoiding them, even when we put the babies up close. the babies are getting thin, and hand-feeding is the only option, but is there ANYTHING else I could do???????
I think there’s a special place in heaven for people who care for little wild life Critters
I just rescued one
I say the same. We truly are special people
Im trying to catch abandoned wild hunnies so then i can save them!
We were cutting the grass and we noticed a small baby bunny it had a cut on its back we are trying to save it the best we can and all I hope is that it will be ok
i wish people and animals were treeted same but that will 😢never happen i am crying wright now after i finished typing

I found an orphaned little cottontail yesterday and want to thank you for making this video, helped me out a lot 💙
👍 We need more people like you in the World! 😊
Thank You for Carring and Loving the baby Bunny! 😘
God! Will bless you!
I actually saved a nest of baby bunnys and brunt them inside because of a storm and they are still doing good @savebunnys
Just started a rabbitry and I have a first time mama who's refusing to feed 8 babies! You won me over with this video! Subscriber for life🥰

You are kind, patient, and know how to coax a bunny into life. I thank you, and the bunny thanks you.
Four days later I think it’s eyes are open but there is a special place for heaven where people take care of little baby rabbit
You did it with perfection I've 3 orphaned bunnies and I know feeding them and stimulating urination & bowel is not an easy task.

Eyedropper

you can use kitten replacment milk
I have some questions about raising your bunny. How did you get cecotropes for your bunny when transitioning him/her to solid foods?
Thank you for this. Does he remember you when he sees you in your yard?
I am curious if this bunnies made it. They are really delicate things.
They are VERY delicate things...he actually grew up and I released him on my property which is home to hundreds of cottontails :) A happy ending!

@TeeDiddlyDee what do you do if you have newborn baby babies and they do not want to drink the milk from the syringe??

Thanks for letting me share a little of what I know to hopefully pass along something useful to others.🙏🏼Love & blessings to all!❤️
So I have an orphaned bunny the same age as that one. He refuses to eat the formula and he is way to jumpy
nemo S. yikes
Thank you.
What formula did you use? How do you make that milk?
I have a baby bunny who seems to be struggling latching on to the ma so I've been bottle feeding it, it's been day 5 and I'm still not sure if it's fed enough when I feed it, it definitely does give the "no more" signal, but I'm not sure if I should keep feeding it or not. Would there any physical signs that they may be getting a bit fuller by my feeding or would they have to digest everything first to get the plump belly?
This very helpful. Thank u so much. We do not know how to let the babies drink their milk from their mommy bunny.
i recently found 2 baby rabbits in my backyard and moved them to the front yard so my dogs wouldn’t eat them. i felt bad because it’s been super rainy and kinda cold so i put them under a bush on a down and wrapped them up a little and made a tiny shelter for them but idk how old they are or how to care for them
Where do i find those little bottle feeders? I found an orphan baby rabbit.
I need help ASAP. we just found a baby bunny abt as small as yours. How often should I feed it and how much? Can I give it whole milk or do I need to dilute it? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
How many hours interval to feed the kits?
Hi , what milk do you use in feeding the baby bunny?
Thanks.
What happened
Can I bottle feed them even if they're only 2 days old?
One day how many times must feed thm by hand give milk????
tysm, i found a baby bunny near a dumpster and saved it! 💓
How much do you feed them please?? I checked in many websites and all the answers are different
Brenda Morris Did they survive? 😮
What kind of milk so you use? My does are due in a couple of days so I was just wondering if I needed a emergency back up plan
I use kmr! Its a kitten milk replacer great for bunnies but she also linked her recipe in the discription:)
What milk do you feed him? I have 2 new born kits.. I'm afraid they might die.. 😔
How many times a day do u do this?
Twice
What type of milk should I feed newborn bunnies? Our rabbits had two bunnies and she isn’t feeding her babies so It’s looking like im going to have to use this method
I wish my cottontails were that still what do u do if the cottontails are jumpy and don't let u feed them I'm having a very hard time
how often do you feed a newborn kit?
how often are you feeding them and at any point do you switch to vegetation or will they be released by that point.
Beautiful nails!
The baby survived, and was released onto her property with lots of other bunnies when he was big enough to fend for himself.
is it a glass dropper, as would be good if were like a baby bottle teet, like the mums
Goat nipples, the red ones at a farm store, have a small tip that works wonders for feeding small animals like rabbits and rats.
I'm looking after orphaned newborn bunnies at the moment and man they take a while to learn how to feed from a dropper
Ok so help me out please I just rescued one last night, he has some head swelling from being dropped two feet off the ground from a bird, but he’s alive and he’s a fighter, he lived through the night and the first few hours. Do I stimulate him right after I feed him? His eyes aren’t open yet :( he’s like 5 days and little
I'm fostering a mother and 7 kits the mom neglects them so 4 of them sadly died so this video is very useful
You are a perfect mom
I just rescued a rabbit today. It looks like it's a few months old. I need help! What do I feed him/her?
If it's a few months old, put it back in the wild! (Assuming it's a wild baby bunny.) They don't need rescued at that point.
Do you use regular milk?
My dog attacked a young bunny, she can walk and has fur but is still milking. We looked for the mother, but no sight. We took her in and it was freezing the night we found her. She loves to suckle the milk and burrow into a blanket or into your neck. But the dog started to like the bunny and the bunny would look for her nipple on her stomache when she's hungry. We decided to name her April.
I fed him and now his little belly looks so bloated. He is peeing though.
Sleeping so much. Hope he makes it.
A day ago I found a dead bunny in the road, and just today I found 6 tiny bunnies in a nest. 4 if them already died and I just cleaned the other two and fed them. This is going to be tough!
How is it going?
@@peterpan05 They all died like an hour after I posted that.
AssortedBananas damn, I’m sorry
@@peterpan05 That's alright. I knew they were gonna be extremely hard to keep alive.
If they are using the restroom by themselves after each feeding, do you still have to stimulate them?
Lexy Brown No
So cute
I just lost the DOe today 24 hrs after their birth and dint know what to do. Thank you
did they survive? Did you manage to get cecotropes?
the bunnies i have are super hard to feed they refuse to take it it’s been a couple days idk if they will eventually understand
What kind of milk are you feeling it ?
How many times should I feed it?
Mothers feed their babies about 2 times a day mostly at night
The best video ever 😢 it helps
Guyssss I need help, I have rescued many Bunnies but this is different. This little guy, he won’t drink the milk while the others do BUT he is super active and don’t know what’s wrong with him??
What kind of milk is that? Is it cow milk or rabbit milk?
where did you get the bottle from
if we see a seemingly abandoned baby rabbit in our backyard away from a nest what should we do?
Well normally the momma bunny is usually close by...but if the baby has been brought in by a pet dog or cat from afar, it may need to be cared for if it's still too young and drinking milk
My bunny doesn’t pee or poop right after it eats. It takes about an hour for them to go and it’s a newborn
My rabbit had a litter ages ago and she only gave birth to a single baby we got her pregnant again she had 5 but 2 died and the baby’s are 6 days now but she’s neglecting them any advice and what milk x?
What kind of milk do you use ?

How often do you feed them?
my rabbit had 5 babies, but she's been avoiding them, even when we put the babies up close. the babies are getting thin, and hand-feeding is the only option, but is there ANYTHING else I could do???????
Some one ans me do you need to feed your baby bunnies or those the mother do it
