Great video, thank you so much for listening to my suggestion. A few more details, one night when she was just a young punk a friend asked for her help so she run out alone with just a baseball bat found the "enemies" and after a bloodbath she was the only one standing, now thats a scene out of an anime. Also in the picture at the 7,45 min mark you can see she is wearing Hakama which is man's formal clothing. Finally according to her claim she never lost a fight to a man and I believe her
Though women also have adopted it over the years . Women wear it when playing 百人一首Hyakunin Ishu in tournaments or in practice other sports like the bow and the fencing lol. I have a green pair myself it can also be worn casually nowadays just like wearing Monpe over kimono. Monpe being pants for kimono that’s a bit baggy. You would tie up the kimono with a tie over your knees . Then put on the monpe
@@Daiki0391 I didnt know that, thank you.I have seen pics from bow practice but didnt realise that was Hakama. Also didnt know there are Hyakunin Ishu tournaments

Great video, I lived in Japan 5 years, studied Japanese, and history back in the 80s. My senses taught us the motorcycle riding gangsters were called kaminarizoku, while those gangsters that drove cars were called bozozoku, can you clarify this?
I looked into it and it seems kaminarizoku came before bousouzoku by a decade or so, but unlike bousouzoku they never got into gang fights, etc and their main thing was just riding bikes (with modified mufflers). Bousouzoku have both bikes and cars, but are classed as delinquents that cause trouble and get into fights etc. Hope that clarified things!
I'm surprised she talks openly about what she did in the past. Couldn't she be arrested by the police now if she says she committed crimes in the past?
I wonder if there are non ethnic Japanese or those of mixed ethnicities that are prominent members of any Yakuza group. Also I'm curious if there are Yakuza groups whether branches of the ones in Japan or independently existing in other countries whether close to Japan in the region like Korea, Taiwan, PRC, etc or faraway like in Europe, North or South America.
A different way to say it is “it is acknowledged she is the only female yakuza to have joined through the process of taking an oath” Recognised/recognized = acknowledged by oath = through the process of taking an oath I hope that makes sense!
Thank you for sharing and to the person who suggested this as a topic. Very interesting. That's a lady I'd like to meet. But fear if she sneezed or made a sudden move, I'd have a stroke. lol

I am not a fan of tattoos. Living in the USA, they're popular, but every one I've seen just looks, I guess, low class, kind of trashy. That being said, I find myself pausing the video to look at those japanese tattoos. Those are badass. They are a serious commitment.

I love that Mako married the rival gang’s boss and basically had both gangs getting along (well, as much as possible given the circumstances).

Interesting how in japan the only ones with traditional japanese tattoos are yakuza
Well there is a clear historical answer to that.
@@HayGurHayyy what is it? Idk anything abt yakuza. just that my trash mother has bad traditional japanese tattoos that i wanna laugh at her for having 😂
It's a desecration of the body for Japanese so a no go. Considered very low class.

Really well made video

West coast usa, many major cities like San Francisco, seattle, portland, vancouver have yakuza
@@joestrummer4106 Are they affiliated to any groups in Japan existing like their overseas branch or they're completely independent?
Yep, apparently 30% of the Japanese Yakuza are Korean
@@Drawperfectcircles I've heard about that. Do they also have branches in Korea?
Are there Chinese or other ethnicities too?
@@NikhileshSurve it’s not a branch. It’s just that when some of the Korean imm*grants couldn’t find jobs in the Japanese market, they turned to crime

I despise Mako, because of forcing kids into human trafficking.
there is no way she beat anyone up lel this is som urban legend stuff, she looks so thin that even a 14 year old boy could snap her in half
were talking about asian men here
Technique is more important than brute force. Go to a boxing gym and spar with one of the 14 or 15 year olds there. You will find out.
Only beats up Men cause she has tats and is a Yakusa I guess
