So helpful…I’m actually going to have my two boys watch this to get some ideas on what they would like to study for next year electives. Thank you so much!

Thanks-this was a great resource! We really enjoy The Great World Adventure units as they cover geography, history, food, religion, and just a bit of everything!

What a great list of ideas ! I am on my 3rd high schooler ( with 5 more after) and being able to pick and choose electives that fit each child has been wonderful. Thanks for the great ideas.

With so many options to choose from, how do you decide how many total credits to use each year in high school? Our local high school offers 7 credits a year but I can definitely see us doing more than that with all the interest led learning.

That will really depend on each individual student and what you feel they can handle. I’ve had some semesters where I noticed one of my kiddos seeming overwhelmed and I’d cut something out. And other times they were rocking through things and I knew they could use an extra challenge. Typically I make sure we have a course each year from the big 4 (Math, English, Science and History/Social Studies) and then I had electives on. Sometimes we get a course that will provide multiple credits. For example, my oldest is doing a combo course that covers government, Econ, personal finance, and even logic. So while she’s doing work for one course, she’s gradually earning 4 different credits

For the Dave Ramsey foundations finance course, did you buy the student add-on?

We just bought the course. But definitely watch for them to have sales! I got the full course for over half off by waiting for them to run a sale (which they do several times a year). The full course ended up costing the same as the student add on

What is the logic video series you've paired with The Fallacy Detective? Thanks, Abbey!

The logic is worked into the Gov/Econ/Personal finance course from Guest Hollow. They link many different videos in covering the various fallacies, ways to improve critical thinking, etc. So it’s not just one particular YT channel linked to or one video set but rather a mix of them.
Honestly it’s one of my fav courses I’ve had my oldest do. She’s getting 4 different course credits for just this one course and already understands all of the subjects more thoroughly than I ever have. I’ve been very impressed
