I remember seeing this guy in Britain's Got Talent 5 years ago or so. He is EASILY one of my all-time favourite comedians, and I don't say that ironically. I thought he was brilliant and I'm so happy to see he's getting the attention he deserves. He has me rolling in laughter every time. And not just because of the jokes he makes, but the way he delivers them is peak. I will always respect this man.
He's really brilliant. And his routine is a prime example, of who is delivering the joke/message. Most of what he's saying would be (correctly) racist, if delivered by a white non-foreigner.
As a Cameroonian (West African),I could relate to a lot of the African jokes he made. I've lived in South Africa 4 years now and Cape Town hardly feels like you're in Africa and so a lot of what Daliso is saying kind of applies
Probably like north America. Mexico is a very different place culturally and foods are very different from Canada. Even from Northern US to Southern US is very different in accent, food, weather, and culture.

He was referring to Cape Town being a functioning and well run town because the people of the Cape provinces have voted in a different political part than the political party that is doing a very poor job running the the rest of South Africa Basic infrastructures are crumbling here under the ruling party, a perfect example would be the lack of electricity - look up loadshedding in South Africa & the corruption in Eskom which is a government owned company so they refuse to allow any competitors.

I'm multiracial, white/Rajput etc..but I was born and lived in India...when I came to the UK at 14 for school, this girl comes up to me and asked if I lived in a hut. I just burst out laughing, as the main house I lived in was probably as big as the bloody school building....stereotypes!

His commentary on British schooling in Ghana made me think of my warped US education. My school system in Florida taught English, Latin, Ancient Greek, French, and Spanish as a 2nd language. It was very progressive, even in the 60's. I studied German in college, as well as several computer languages--COBOL, Fortran, SAS, and assembler. It was a post-classical education. You can't go wrong with that.
Latin was offered at my former high school here in Kenya but I couldn't be bothered. We did however learn Kenyan history, especially the fight against 70 years of British occupation. 🤣

Granted we also learned kiswahili but english was the primary language used for everything and we learned no other african languages. We also learned american and british history and not much African history. I can tell you about the montgomery bus boycott but not much about the history of my own continent.

Wow I'm only 1 min in and I get it's comedy but that strikes a chord with me... I'm an NZer (New Zealander/Kiwi) but Irish and Scottish. even though New Zealand was a colony of England and all of our things are essentially the British way of doing things, we grew up learning our countries history. Learning all facets of it. The bad and the good. To me that feels wrong to have been brought up not being taught your countrys history (or in the case of Americans, being taught it correctly). It feels like a net loss for the world. One less person to pass that history on. I hope things have changed since then. I know exactly 0 about what is taught in African Schools at any time but i would hope they at least learn their own languages, their own history, and their own traditions...
