Great video, I have a Ragdoll kitten to photograph, she's very active so I usually try and grab a shot when she's calmed down! I've subscribed, I also started a photography channel back in November, focusing on landscapes in the UK where I live.
Thank you for the great tips and the photos you took were gorgeous. I'm having a problem with photos of my kitty where her eyes come out with a reflection in the pupils and the color looks washed out. I can't capture her beautiful eyes. I use the flash for some and no flash for others and I still seem to get the same glare in her eyes. I'm not using a cell phone but a regular canon camera. Not an expensive camera but I should be able to get some nice shots with her eyes showing up. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.
Hi and thanks for watching my video! Really any lens you have is going to be great. When it comes to lenses, it depends on what look you are going for. A wide angle lens like the 16-35mm will make whatever is closest to the camera bigger than what is farther away. A long lens, like the 70-200, will make your cat look great while blurring out the background. But you need to be far away to use this lens. A basic 24-75 lens would be perfect. Just make sure your shutter speed is fast, like above 1/200. That way if the cat moves, you reduce the blur effect in your photos. I hope this helps!
Yes! But using a flash has it’s challenges. Just make sure you are shooting at least 1/200 with flash to capture their movement. Cats really don’t sit still very long!
Well the Tort always will cooperate 🤣🤣😃. And the other one Leo, well he was like later buddy … great video
Thank you. Leo would never put up with it. Just his way. MaryAnne, my tortie, loves the camera! I hope you picked up a few photography tips!
Fun AND useful. Thank you.
Thanks James! Really just have fun playing with the cats. And pack your patience, they are cats, after all! 😂
The only problem is getting my cat to look at me 😂
Try lots of treats! Hold the treat to their nose, then move the treat over your lens. They should look at it!
Make odd noises, it attracts their attention!

How do you manage to focus when you are so close to the cat and its moving? Time 7:51
Continuous focus, depends what brand but on Canon it's called ai focus & ai Servo
I want to make cat videos how to do it with cell phone camera ?
Cute video, do a video for dogs 🐶
Should we use flash if the light is not enough?
Yes! But using a flash has it’s challenges. Just make sure you are shooting at least 1/200 with flash to capture their movement. Cats really don’t sit still very long!
Avoid flash. It will make eyes pupil small.
What about if your taking on iPad Air xD my camera sucks , also if you wanna check out my photos on my channel tat would be great lol
Do you use composition rules while photographing cats or is it just fill the frame with your subject
Hi Chris. Thanks for watching! I actually do both. And the pet doesn’t have to look at the camera all the time to get some great photos!
another tip, don't treat cats like dogs, it won't work.
