You shouldn't not like her for what the coaches decided to do. I feel bad for Rosa, worse after what happened to her 1996, but I still think Goutsou was a great athelete. She split her prize money with Galieva, and the two of them never spoke again. The coaches served a great injustice to Galieva, but no one considers the cost to Goutsou.
Of all the things I did not expect to happen during those games, I did not expect to have my little boy heart drop-kicked by a pixie-esque Soviet gymnast I had never heard of before. But that's exactly what happened. I felt like such a traitor for it, too.lol I only watched those games for Shannon Miller, and out of patriotism for my country. Yet, there I was, crushing on this pretty, blonde girl from the Ukraine. Tatiana & Shannon put on a hell of a show. Both were deserving of gold.
Gosh you're so right, he overdramatized everything. Plus she beat Shannon by 12 one-thousandths, not 12 one-hundredths. That's a big difference in gymnastics.

You're right. It doesn't make up for the coaches faking Roza's injuries. But these are little girls who do what the coaches say, and it's not fair to hold Tatiana in the wrong, I don't think. I think that Tatiana did what she could to make it right by Roza. But it's not like she volenteered or anything. She had as much choice in the matter as Roza, but she just got the better end of the stick.
I respected that they were actually doing gymnastics because it was their goal to provide for their families...thats what made this girls special. They did this to give their communities something awesome to talk about...so I will always adore Eastarn Europe teams...I am US and its only fun when your the underdog but now its too many Amanar Vaults, and not very much artistry...I miss the late 80's and 90's era of gymnastics.
That still doesn't make up for Gustu taking the place of Roza. The coaches took her out thinking Roza isn't worth it, claiming she was injured, but she wasn't. Gustu should just have licked her wounds and waited for another 4 years or just prepare for the event finals. Roza pays while Gustu benefits. There was no cost for Gustu, Roza was the one who pays for the costs.
I had to admit, I don't like this gymnast. Not only she beat Shannon Miller in the AA, but took the place of Roza Galieva who rightfully qualify for the AA. Gustu shouldn't be even in the AA because of a fall in the Team Optionals, but the coaches took Roza out so Gustu could take her place and win the AA. What such injustice! Those who qualify AA, have the right to compete in it, not be replace since competing in the AA is a great experience and oppurtunity for any gymnast in this event.
TWELVE ONE THOUSANTHS OF A POINT, NOT twelve one hundrenths!!!!!!!!! 0.012, NOT 0.12!!! I know this has already been corrected, but I just needed to say it again. How can someone broadcast something across the entire world with such a huge error? I don't get it!
The point is Gustu shouldn't be in the all-around in the first place. Roza earned her spot to be in the all-around, without any falls unlike Gustu. If Gustu wanted to she can have her chance again in the 1996 Olympics. If someone earns a spot through hard-work and honestly then they deserve it, not someone who didn't earned that spot, but yet still been put there, because they are believed to be better.
Summonearth I understand what you're saying, but those coaches knew in their hearts that Gutsu was a great gymnast. That's why they did that. Those coaches look at those gymnasts every day. So they know whose the best.
The second half is on the Little Women soundtrack, right when John Tesh starts talking about how the fight came down to two young ladies, blah blah blah...
John Tesh is so cheesy...I remember when they came out of this piece they had a shot of Shannon stretching in the warm up gym. Waiting for her 2nd chance. Which wasn't to be.
I'm sorry but this is the most BLATANTLY overscored Olympic gymnast of all time!!!! When they ever issued that beam score in optional I remember thinking "Wtf"? Poor Rosa galieyva was NOT injured. Her coaches stole that spot from her, gifted it to Gutsu and from there she was overscored repeatedly. Smh
God theres just so much wrong with that comment I don't even know where to begin. Bet you wouldn't cry so hard if it wasn't an American she *rightfully* beat. Your just being delusional. Again.
Tatiana Gutsu is a legend👏🏻😎
At the time, I wanted Shannon Miller to win, but watching both their routines now, Gutsu's every event seemed way harder than Miller's
A very nice video.... I liked it a lot! Thank you for posting this! 💚

I love that 😍! And you're forgiven; not only was she very cute but there was something about her that tugged at one's heartstrings!
Peak fluff pieces.
This was the end of an dynasty, the Soviet Union, the big red machine.
Me encantaban !! El 😪
You can see form break in the beginning part of Tatiana's vault

Aww, she was so cute and tiny: I think she was about 4ft 7 and weighed about 4 and a half stone or something crazy like that!!
He was the commentator that sided Tim and Elfi in the numerous gymnastics competitions in the 90s, including Atlanta 1996.
Shannon Miller's vault should have been a perfect 10.
иди ты на хер уже со своей миллер
no. Tatiana was the best and deserved gold
Yep she was very underscored.

U don't tell a coach what to do
Really? When I was a kid, I never understood what he was saying. But I do remember the Atlanta Olympics.
what is the background music called? it doesn't seem like 'night on a bald mountain'
The second half is on the Little Women soundtrack, right when John Tesh starts talking about how the fight came down to two young ladies, blah blah blah...
not yet 20? she was 15!
What is the background music...I want to know

This looks like it was produced at a later time--her hairstyle is different and she seems older in the shots where she is commenting.

Could someone tell the music at the beginning?
In the Steppes of Central Asia by Alexander Borodin
@@ke2588 Thank you!
Now
Night on a Bald Mountain
@selesfan30 Okay. The next time I get totally screwed over by the powers that be, I'll count my blessings too.

We know what u are made off , but gutsu beat d American hands down, nothing gonna change it ,
hou je bek!
She deserved it.
Tatiana was cuter, so I liked her better than Shannon. She might have hairy underarms, though.
