For students at the college, it was definitely a horrible experience, and I'm sure that the waiting around didn't help, but if police didn't sweep the area however long it took, there very well could've been another person, maybe even with a loaded firearm with live rounds.
Why do police representatives invariably sound like this guy. This one just gives the impression that he's trying to use a vocabulary that he thinks is going to make him sound intelligent or perhaps, have some intelligence. These are clearly not his own speech patterns or the vocabulary he uses day to day. If he can't speak appropriately then get someone who can. Don't the police know they rely on public support and here we have a low or middling ranking officer who's discourse is not up to any sort of professional standard.
The staff detained him, then the police arrived, flooded the area and dragged it out for 6 hours causing utter chaos.
