    Street/self-defense 101. Always train everything from every direction. To include on knees and ground from every angle. In the street there is no such thing as a left or right lead. There is only what you have at that instant and that will change in an instant. This is the real brilliance, and beauty of the Filipino Arts. The stick work teaches so much more then the stick work.

    In all demonstration of stick fighting, mostly I saw like in this video, that the attacker and defender would swing their stick, not toward the person to hit him but toward where it will meet the other incoming stick. It is like they will swing their stick toward the other stick. Even in practice drill the partners swing their stick to meet the other stick; not swinging the stick to a target in the body of the other person who will block or parry with his stick.

      dosdadio siapa u heard of sparring? Try it first with gear then without so u can practice distance and where to hit. Make sure u hit the hard targets. But not too hard. U want to make sure u still have sparring partners. Unless u wanna try it like in the phil. 70’s

    In multiple scenarios, the first thing one does is to become the aggressor, never the responder. That gets you one beat ahead of your attackers, rather than one beat behind them

    After learning this for years and applying on the street and challenges.... Emtpy hand fma is good for one on one.... You have to practice another art to help adapt when or if you face multiple attackers. Why get urself cornered??? If ur smart u won't. The stick though is useful for multiple attackers. But if ur gonna be cornered ur gonna get killed so the question is always do u wanna get out alive by consequence breaking bones poking eyes or use their weapons against them or fight like in a gym. In the end awareness is the best way stay alive not act like some superhero who can take on anyone and not get hurt. Seen mma and tmas get their asses kicked or killed already

    • @yetrotagabundok3756
      @yetrotagabundok3756 3 роки тому

      "Empty hand FMA is good for one on one..." I'm sorry, but you are sorely misinformed. Kali/Escrima/Arnis/Balintawak/FMA are designed and derived from ancient tribal war fighting, where it was never one on one. You need to kill or neutralize your adjacent enemies in under 3 seconds to face and survive (by killing) the next one and the next one... surrounded in a corner or out in the open, with a bladed or blunt weapon (preferred) or with empty hands. Losers die; they don't get beat up. One on one is too easy a fight for FMA. You need to learn more about FMA and it's history, purpose, and function (it's not to score points as in a sport) rather than make your simplistic conclusions based on the tiny video clips you see on UA-cam of the many facets of FMA. The "Escrimadors" who protected my Mom's village against "Juramentados" up to the mid-1930s in Mindanao, Philippines were a testament to the warrior fighting skills. They weren't trained for self-defense; they trained for endless lethal counter-attacks.

    What is the deal with close up shaky cam? It looks rubbish in movies but to use it to make an instructional video? That is something else. When the dude is showing footwork I want to be able to see his feet. Not a way too close shot of his hand. And I dont want to be looking over someones shoulder either. It doesn't make me "feel like I'm there", it makes me miss stuff I might have wanted to see.

    To fight with multiple attackers at same time is not an easy thing.. To show off demo its good but in reality its difficult because you dont know from where attack will come when facing multiple opponents at same time..

    The Martial arts has evolved to the old way. This is not true devastation. Look to YOKATAI for true instruction. But I assure you being a warrior is not for everyone.
    This is child's play.

      The Blacksmith Channel lol wat? Jared Wihongi was a police officer and a certified CQC instructor for law enforcement agencies in the US and abroad....I think he’s got more credentials teach tactical self-defense than your Yokatai....

      how many person did your yokatai ever killed eh?

    • @ErijionTaizesanju
      @ErijionTaizesanju 3 роки тому

      I liked his video, very informative, it is devastating, what he's saying, but i said "true devastation", I didn't speak about his credentials. I believe he has a lot of experience, I can see that.. I am US Army ex Military as well and I'll leave it at that.
      YOKATAI is sensored, the public doesn't see what I teach. Nothing I've ever shown is a true reflection of it.
      PLS READ BEFORE COMMENTING ON THINGS YOU DON'T KNOW. I will say, He spoke about exploiting his outside line. He is smart not to do that, he knows *its everything* If he wants to know a different way, that has the ability to possibly mitigate that threat, that is my specialty, not his..
      I don't know Kali stick fighting, I think it's amazing. Only he and people like Dan Inosanto, pls excuse my error Dan If I spelled that wrong... and other specialist would know if it's a good fix for threat assessment.
      I'm sure integrated stick fighting with P2PC is a different world for that system.. I'm glad he's had a successful career, but everyone wants to get better*
      This is not about prior credentials, THIS is about **evolution**

      Theron there are many forms of styles in chinese martial arts and only a few are recognized as effective. Some are the origins of karate. Better check in china what arts are truly effective. If not a hand full. ... none. As bl once said the effective ones are low key. Whether u believe or not its up if that style was effective they would only show basic stuff on the net and it looks ugly

      Of course not even being a master of a certain discipline will guarantee someone of safety especially around multiple attackers. This is just to somehow give a person the know hows when dealing with such scenarios when flight is not an option

    This is rubbish. Go watch something like an Urban Combatives video, who I have no connection to other than being brought up in s very tough society, where we learned reality as we grew up and use that as a check on our martial arts training.
