I agree with the previous comment that stated he IT doesn't die. Assuming the reason monolith calls us over to the gate is to wipe our memory of killing chain because they KNOW he will come back, if we find out he's not dead then we will not want to do the dirty work for the company .If the devil himself created a mask that grants the user overwhelming power than ''IT'' would not go down that easily. A good suggestion for an ACTUAL endgame is when a priest would teach you a phrase that summons a holy spirit that channels the power of god to kill chain. This phrase is to weaken chain so gradually that his mask would completely shatter, never to return leaving only the user. In which we finally know who chain was or is now, I could assume IT is a killer lumberjack that kills people so brutally that the devil himself created a mask for ''only those who are worthy enough of it's power'' IT's undying will to kill is what keeps him alive so destroying the mask itself would leave ONLY the user alone without it's power.

I got choked by him once, I suck with the machete, but u have to keep hitting him until he Lunges toward u
I think when chain gets angry, he can use choke. But otherwise he cant
