Thanks for this, most vids don't elaborate on how exactly the SHOEI's come apart, this made it look safe and relatively easy

Perfect - had been wondering how to clean my helmet for some days - as always very nicely explained😜

For my pinlocks I give them a final rinse with distilled water to prevent spots and let them completely dry without any wiping. I find they tend to mark or grab fibers off the microfiber cloth too easily.

It's probably been 15+ years since I've bought distilled water (since I buy all my coolant pre-mix now). Good tip! I've never had any trouble with microfibers getting caught. While this was a cheaper cloth I use another when traveling that is still called microfiber but a much tighter weave.

I am pretty sure you can remove the chin strap fabric. They are removable on my shoei XR1100 (RF 1100). You just unclip them at the very top of the strap

You may be right. There is a snap but I'll be damned if I can fit my fingers in there to unsnap it.

Hey man quick question do you know if arai makes a auto darking pinlock insert for the tour x4 ?

Pin lock inserts will always be clear. Unsure if they make a auto-tint shield for the helmet. That said, it’s very similar shape to the XD-4 shield which I spoke with the Arai rep complaining the pin lock wouldn’t seal. He stated it’s a know problem and to use anti-fog solution on it. Kind of a paint for such an expensive helmet.
