On the question about the potential LSM Playstation Showcase Reaction, I for one would love the boys to do just a one-off stream on UA-cam for this. I know Colin is slightly opposed to “reaction” content but it doesnt have to be treated like that but more like “Come Watch the Playstation Showcase with LSM!” No big theatrics or anything and you can even turn off superchats so you don’t feel that “streaming” energy during the show. I think for how rarely Playstation does these type of things, it would be awesome to see the members of #1 Playstation Podcast watch the show along with us. Then, after watching it, the boys can decipher what was shown and podcast about it on a normal episode of Sacred. Idk, I just think people in the LSM community would love to see it. And if Colin really doesn’t want to do it, a stream with Chris, Dustin, and a few other LSM members would be awesome too.
It would be fun but his perspective, and it’s not wrong, is that it’s better to watch it, absorb it, and then discuss instead of doing it all live and instant reactions.

I agree with Chris on Sony needing to keep their exclusives. At least keep single player staggered and not day and date. I think once that's gone they'll eventually be where Microsoft is now. Short term gain for long term losses. I'm sure things looked good for Xbox when they started day and date but without that exclusive identity you take away one of the biggest reasons to own a console. Great games do matter too but with how easy and cheap it can be to have a decent gaming PC people will jump ship.

Your just delaying putting the dishes away. Wash by hand and bang there all done and put away in 20 mins, unless your a complete regarded person. Versus dishwasher where an hour later you’ve to go and empty it again and put the things away after scrapping and filling the thing. Just cause your delaying it doesn’t mean it’s quicker
If you think dishwashers are unnecessary, I have to wonder if you „properly“ cook meals for yourself let alone for multiple people. When our dishwasher was broken for some weeks every evening we spent 1+ hour doing the dishes, the stuff we used to prepare and cook the meals, etc. On the other side, when we did renovation for the entire house we ended up without a kitchen and if you mostly get takeaway meals you don‘t need a dishwasher. Also, don‘t rinse your dirty dished and stuff unless it‘s been drying to a point where you would need additional force to get rid of it. That‘s also what almost all the experts are saying: do not rinse your dishes before putting them in the dishwasher. It wastes water and your dishwasher will operate less effectively.

Elden Ring is the go-to example that came to mind for me. Had to get used to dying from fall damage even after an instinctive, perfectly timed 2nd jump with Torrent.

You have one with clean dishes and as you dirty them you fill up the other one. Once filled, then turn it on and that one becomes your clean one, and you fill the other one with dirty dishes.

If they are following the second TLOU game then the Bella Ramsey casting is questionable. She was good as young Ellie but in the second game Ellie is essentially in the Joel role and is physically taking on grown adults and handling weapons and fighting toe to toe. The fact that Ramsey seems to look the same as young Ellie though the story is supposed to take place years later makes it less believable she can do the things Ellie does in the second game. I will withhold judgement until I watch and I would imagine they took this into account but on the surface I hope it doesn't hurt the show.

In fact Rise of the Ronin has the very same deal in which Koei Tecmo own the IP but Sony owns the full world wide publishing rights. If that was the case, then we would have had the same outrage for GTAV, AC Origins, Blade etc. People are just noticing that in 1579 feudal Japan Yasuke was the only black man and his role was unclear. Regarding Horizon, I think 2 things 1. It’s a Playstation IP that has the most successful merchandising right now. It’s beyond games. The t-shirts, Aloy Funkos, the robot dinosaur Lego toys, the comic books, the Horizon plushies…. They make a lot of money for Sony. It’s an IP that has found great success in merchandising. So Sony wants to continue making more games to expand its fans 2. The games continue to sell despite the release dates being some time ago. Zero Dawn and Forbidden West are still selling. The games have legs. That makes Sony want to continue to invest more into the IP and make more games.

A few things to note: 1) The exclusives were noted as a financial highlights in SEs financial report...the exclusive angle is a false narrative. Takashi Mochizucki is known to have bad info it pains my heart to see his stuff used here of all places. 2) The exclusivity deals streamline development and reduce costs. The PS5 user base is basically 2x the size of the Xbox S/X user base. Would developing multi-platform FF games help ship more games? Sure. But it won't be a night and day difference. Development times will be longer and costs higher with a multi-platform strategy too. SE biggest problem here is not Sony or "platform exclusivity" but their messy management that produced low / mediocre quality games and unnecessary projects. For example: SE spent a lot of money for NFT projects and all of them doesn't lead to anything except a big hole in their financial. Or tons of garbage mobile games that only got closed down in less than a year. Not to mention, SE sold mid AA games like The DioField Chronicle, Saga Emerald Beyond, or Star Ocean 6 at $50-60 which all of them are multiplats and failed to sold well. 3) An Uncharted game starring Casey Drake would divide the fanbase given how Nathan Drake is the face of the franchise. Lost Legacy didn't really hold the torch well with Chloe given its star characters were absent (Nate, Elena, Sully) resulting in low sales. An Uncharted 1 reboot was rumored for years and is probably the best case scenario especially with the recent movie. Maybe that rumour SD newly formed studio is working on it? We've not heard anything about this in a while. 4) I'm a fan of the Jim Ryan era and him juggling all of those responsibilities just made me respect him even more. Two people had to fill the shoes of his work. That alone demands respect whether you like him or not.
The thing about Nioh is... and btw Yasuke is in it, as a samurai, for some reason the lefties on twitter forget that. But it was ridiculous. It had historical figures working with mythical creatures and fighting demons, and literally made the englishman william adams into a n irish man with an accent- so you never took anything of it "serious" I mean, when a talking cat gives you advice, who would?. It was never trying to pretend it was telling a real story about historical people, it was just using their names. Ubi soft has claimed Yasuke was a legendary samurai, which isnt true - he might have been a samurai but dont make up stories about his life. In fact he literally gave up during a battle and was called an animal by the man facing him and dismantled and shipped back to the portugese. So this isnt the "hero" you wanna use to play as a "samurai" in Sengoku japan. Just be honest, we want DEI points and added a black guy, of all the samurais to pick in that period, you picked the worst one. Once again, Yasuke as a samurai and character in Nioh was cool- but Assassins Creed basically butchered the take on japanese sengoku period with this decision.

Worry not Collin, Massive already announced The Division 3 as being in the pipe once they're done with their big IP games. Also, take that commenter with a grain of salt. I was in one of the closed betas for Heartlands and i was pretty lukewarm about it. Game was pretty grindy with collecting resources while giving you a tiny backpack with limited item slots(you had to craft upgrades for more slots) and you had 4 premade hero characters you could play as. If that character gets injured or dies they get sent to the infirmiry to recover on a timer for a few hours. They also dont recover max health without the infirmary either(you can spend resources to fast track this but that requires farming them first.) The survival mechanics basically force you to always carry water because you gotta drink more every few minutes, else you take a stamina debuff. This takes up the same limited slots as your stacks of ammo and collected resources. Ammo economy for certain weapon types seemed skewed, like for assault rifles. Snipers were easy to maintain ammo for while ARs seemed to chew through ammo instantly. Also, for some reason they switched up the control scheme for the movement/cover mechanics. I assume to integrate melee weapons and sliding. Personally, at times, it felt clunkier than the mainline games. I personally think there wasnt going to be much player interest in Heartlands when it launched. There just wasnt enough there to make it stand out vs Tarkov or Hunt: Showdown.
Regarding the exclusivity of games, I don't think it's only a console wars or "ecosystem stability" thing. I really believe the narrative feeds on itself and is already causing real customer impact. For example, most of my friends that previously had a PS4 will not upgrade to PS5 (or if did, basically abandoned it) in favor of investing in a PC. The main argument I hear is that every game will soon end up in PC anyway. The real impact is that now I rarely see a friend online in the console, and to be fair the psycological impact of it is being higher than I'd like to admit. This year I only bought FF rebirth to save money for a good PC (last year I bought and platined 23 games). Meanwhile I'm only relying on some backlog stuff on my Switch. We even hear on DF that a next Xbox console might be windows based, with full steam support. What I mean by all that is I'm really trying to find reasons to continue investing on PS, but I'm really not seeing it. And more people are starting to make these same questions.
PC release is great for Sony games. Big believer in that. PC sales is similar to the movie business during the 80s and 90s when they released movies first to movie theaters and after some time releasing the movies on DVD/bluray for that extra kickback. Some movies even did better as DVD/Bluray, movies like Highlander and Can't buy me love. This allowed for bigger budgets from the investors, so this is good for Sony, it's been amazing to see friends play GoT on PC, it looks great, and the best feeling is when they send you screenshots and say "Are you seeing this, this looks amazing" You can answer: Yeah, been there done that man!
Sony/playstation changes are essentially what Xbox has got going on. Booty head of games, Sara head of xbox platform, mobile console hardware and software, and Phil head of gaming all together. It doesn't really bother me personally about PlayStation putting games on PC and considering to put it day and date, I prefer to play my games on a console and always will. However, I am concerned about the future of the console if they went day and date for single player games. We can see it's had a negative impact on Xbox and I believe you risk losing playerbase (customers) to PC. It's just a slippery slope and not worth the trade off.
Not sure how high your prescription is, but my brother had really terrible vision that he just got corrected. He had to get lenses implanted in his eyes (the strongest available), then once that healed after a month or two, he had to get lasik on top of that. He says it's the best decision he's ever made
Out of all Sony's IPs horizon is the one that makes the most sense to make a game out of as it has the most potential to sell Lego sets due to the machines in the game. From a business perspective that has the potential to make Sony and Lego the most money.

Until recently with the formation of SIE in 2016 which combined Sony Computer Entertainment and Sony Entertainment Network International into one group there was always two CEOs. This concept for two CEOs is just going back to the old way that the group was run before the formation of SIE.
This won’t help any of the sacred Crew as this was recorded a week ago, (vague spoiler alert) but for one of the endings you need to complete all side quests(or enough to get a optional side area to open) and join forces during the final battle.
I’ve never like the PlayStation / PC Initiative. People like to call others “fanboys” for hating it but genuinely ignore our criticism regarding it. Exclusivity defines and differentiates the console. I buy a PS console for God of War. I buy Nintendo for Zelda. There was nothing wrong with this prior to the 2020s. If Sony wants to bring titles to PC at least wait 2-3 years. Give them some validation on why they brought a PS5. PlayStation gamers brought these consoles to play games that’s not available anywhere else. It’s what makes the purchase unique. Take away that option and the PS5 or any other console is practically the same. That’s very boring. Day 1 on PC is a big NO for me. I hope that never happens.
I don't agree with the general idea that day and date exclusives on PC won't hurt PS. It makes sense to release MP games, but not SP games. If I know the single player titles will be on PC day and date why would I buy them on the PS6? The only pros of consoles are, online has less cheaters, discs still exist and hardware is cheaper(CheapER not cheap. Which is the only relevant one for normies). SP exclusives were supposed to entice people to buy the console so they would spend more money in the ecosystem they were already in. The 30% cut, PS+ money and hardware sales goes to the 2-3 single player titles a year, that the industry doesn't make anymore, it's a perfect working loop. If PS trains their customers not to buy their consoles, their customers won't buy their consoles. To me this is as clear as Xbox giving people the choice not to buy their consoles and watching quarter after quarter their sales plummet. It's a death spiral, they need to cut the budgets. Am I crazy?

Collins accounting example is not accurate. Even if they release the game and it bombs, it still has expenses attached to it such as making the game payroll, marketing, shipping dics etc that can still be used against other revenue/income to lower your taxable income/net profit. Note I'm an accountant for 10 years exp with a masters degree. The game must not have been far enough along for them to feel it was worth finishing and releasing. Actually more importantly, internally they must have got info that there would be little to no demand for it.

When talking about Stellar Blade, Colin mentioned not being able to think of another game that counted your double jump as momentum for fall damage. Elden Ring is the go-to example that came to mind for me. Had to get used to dying from fall damage even after an instinctive, perfectly timed 2nd jump with Torrent.
Chris' take on dishwashers is so off. You should, in fact, have two dishwashers. That way, you never have to empty your dishwasher. You have one with clean dishes and as you dirty them you fill up the other one. Once filled, then turn it on and that one becomes your clean one, and you fill the other one with dirty dishes.

If they are following the second TLOU game then the Bella Ramsey casting is questionable. She was good as young Ellie but in the second game Ellie is essentially in the Joel role and is physically taking on grown adults and handling weapons and fighting toe to toe. The fact that Ramsey seems to look the same as young Ellie though the story is supposed to take place years later makes it less believable she can do the things Ellie does in the second game. I will withhold judgement until I watch and I would imagine they took this into account but on the surface I hope it doesn't hurt the show.

Regarding Horizon, I think 2 things
1. It’s a Playstation IP that has the most successful merchandising right now. It’s beyond games. The t-shirts, Aloy Funkos, the robot dinosaur Lego toys, the comic books, the Horizon plushies…. They make a lot of money for Sony. It’s an IP that has found great success in merchandising. So Sony wants to continue making more games to expand its fans
2. The games continue to sell despite the release dates being some time ago. Zero Dawn and Forbidden West are still selling. The games have legs. That makes Sony want to continue to invest more into the IP and make more games.
Horizon has extremely low revenue numbers for the number of copies it allegedly “sold” because it has been constantly bundled with PS4/PS5

A few things to note:
1) The exclusives were noted as a financial highlights in SEs financial report...the exclusive angle is a false narrative. Takashi Mochizucki is known to have bad info it pains my heart to see his stuff used here of all places.
2) The exclusivity deals streamline development and reduce costs. The PS5 user base is basically 2x the size of the Xbox S/X user base. Would developing multi-platform FF games help ship more games? Sure. But it won't be a night and day difference. Development times will be longer and costs higher with a multi-platform strategy too. SE biggest problem here is not Sony or "platform exclusivity" but their messy management that produced low / mediocre quality games and unnecessary projects. For example: SE spent a lot of money for NFT projects and all of them doesn't lead to anything except a big hole in their financial. Or tons of garbage mobile games that only got closed down in less than a year. Not to mention, SE sold mid AA games like The DioField Chronicle, Saga Emerald Beyond, or Star Ocean 6 at $50-60 which all of them are multiplats and failed to sold well.
3) An Uncharted game starring Casey Drake would divide the fanbase given how Nathan Drake is the face of the franchise. Lost Legacy didn't really hold the torch well with Chloe given its star characters were absent (Nate, Elena, Sully) resulting in low sales. An Uncharted 1 reboot was rumored for years and is probably the best case scenario especially with the recent movie. Maybe that rumour SD newly formed studio is working on it? We've not heard anything about this in a while.
4) I'm a fan of the Jim Ryan era and him juggling all of those responsibilities just made me respect him even more. Two people had to fill the shoes of his work. That alone demands respect whether you like him or not.
The thing about Nioh is... and btw Yasuke is in it, as a samurai, for some reason the lefties on twitter forget that. But it was ridiculous. It had historical figures working with mythical creatures and fighting demons, and literally made the englishman william adams into a n irish man with an accent- so you never took anything of it "serious" I mean, when a talking cat gives you advice, who would?. It was never trying to pretend it was telling a real story about historical people, it was just using their names. Ubi soft has claimed Yasuke was a legendary samurai, which isnt true - he might have been a samurai but dont make up stories about his life. In fact he literally gave up during a battle and was called an animal by the man facing him and dismantled and shipped back to the portugese. So this isnt the "hero" you wanna use to play as a "samurai" in Sengoku japan. Just be honest, we want DEI points and added a black guy, of all the samurais to pick in that period, you picked the worst one. Once again, Yasuke as a samurai and character in Nioh was cool- but Assassins Creed basically butchered the take on japanese sengoku period with this decision.
No it’s not DEI points. There’s not a single thing that points to that. And i guess assassins creed has always been 100% historically accurate huh? They’ve always only told stories about the hidden world under the real one. Yasuke is perfect as a blank slate character that not a lot is known about.

Worry not Collin, Massive already announced The Division 3 as being in the pipe once they're done with their big IP games.
Also, take that commenter with a grain of salt. I was in one of the closed betas for Heartlands and i was pretty lukewarm about it. Game was pretty grindy with collecting resources while giving you a tiny backpack with limited item slots(you had to craft upgrades for more slots) and you had 4 premade hero characters you could play as. If that character gets injured or dies they get sent to the infirmiry to recover on a timer for a few hours. They also dont recover max health without the infirmary either(you can spend resources to fast track this but that requires farming them first.) The survival mechanics basically force you to always carry water because you gotta drink more every few minutes, else you take a stamina debuff. This takes up the same limited slots as your stacks of ammo and collected resources. Ammo economy for certain weapon types seemed skewed, like for assault rifles. Snipers were easy to maintain ammo for while ARs seemed to chew through ammo instantly. Also, for some reason they switched up the control scheme for the movement/cover mechanics. I assume to integrate melee weapons and sliding. Personally, at times, it felt clunkier than the mainline games.
I personally think there wasnt going to be much player interest in Heartlands when it launched. There just wasnt enough there to make it stand out vs Tarkov or Hunt: Showdown.
Regarding the exclusivity of games, I don't think it's only a console wars or "ecosystem stability" thing. I really believe the narrative feeds on itself and is already causing real customer impact. For example, most of my friends that previously had a PS4 will not upgrade to PS5 (or if did, basically abandoned it) in favor of investing in a PC. The main argument I hear is that every game will soon end up in PC anyway.
The real impact is that now I rarely see a friend online in the console, and to be fair the psycological impact of it is being higher than I'd like to admit. This year I only bought FF rebirth to save money for a good PC (last year I bought and platined 23 games). Meanwhile I'm only relying on some backlog stuff on my Switch.
We even hear on DF that a next Xbox console might be windows based, with full steam support.
What I mean by all that is I'm really trying to find reasons to continue investing on PS, but I'm really not seeing it. And more people are starting to make these same questions.

PC release is great for Sony games. Big believer in that.
PC sales is similar to the movie business during the 80s and 90s when they released movies first to movie theaters and after some time releasing the movies on DVD/bluray for that extra kickback. Some movies even did better as DVD/Bluray, movies like Highlander and Can't buy me love.
This allowed for bigger budgets from the investors, so this is good for Sony, it's been amazing to see friends play GoT on PC, it looks great, and the best feeling is when they send you screenshots and say "Are you seeing this, this looks amazing"

It doesn't really bother me personally about PlayStation putting games on PC and considering to put it day and date, I prefer to play my games on a console and always will.
However, I am concerned about the future of the console if they went day and date for single player games. We can see it's had a negative impact on Xbox and I believe you risk losing playerbase (customers) to PC. It's just a slippery slope and not worth the trade off.
Not sure how high your prescription is, but my brother had really terrible vision that he just got corrected. He had to get lenses implanted in his eyes (the strongest available), then once that healed after a month or two, he had to get lasik on top of that. He says it's the best decision he's ever made

Out of all Sony's IPs horizon is the one that makes the most sense to make a game out of as it has the most potential to sell Lego sets due to the machines in the game. From a business perspective that has the potential to make Sony and Lego the most money.

I’ve never like the PlayStation / PC Initiative. People like to call others “fanboys” for hating it but genuinely ignore our criticism regarding it.
Exclusivity defines and differentiates the console. I buy a PS console for God of War. I buy Nintendo for Zelda. There was nothing wrong with this prior to the 2020s.
If Sony wants to bring titles to PC at least wait 2-3 years. Give them some validation on why they brought a PS5. PlayStation gamers brought these consoles to play games that’s not available anywhere else. It’s what makes the purchase unique. Take away that option and the PS5 or any other console is practically the same. That’s very boring.
Day 1 on PC is a big NO for me. I hope that never happens.

I don't agree with the general idea that day and date exclusives on PC won't hurt PS. It makes sense to release MP games, but not SP games. If I know the single player titles will be on PC day and date why would I buy them on the PS6? The only pros of consoles are, online has less cheaters, discs still exist and hardware is cheaper(CheapER not cheap. Which is the only relevant one for normies). SP exclusives were supposed to entice people to buy the console so they would spend more money in the ecosystem they were already in. The 30% cut, PS+ money and hardware sales goes to the 2-3 single player titles a year, that the industry doesn't make anymore, it's a perfect working loop. If PS trains their customers not to buy their consoles, their customers won't buy their consoles. To me this is as clear as Xbox giving people the choice not to buy their consoles and watching quarter after quarter their sales plummet. It's a death spiral, they need to cut the budgets. Am I crazy?
Every year it makes more and more sense to become a PC gamer. That will be my purchase next generation. I'm looking forward to the mods.

Collins accounting example is not accurate. Even if they release the game and it bombs, it still has expenses attached to it such as making the game payroll, marketing, shipping dics etc that can still be used against other revenue/income to lower your taxable income/net profit.

The game must not have been far enough along for them to feel it was worth finishing and releasing. Actually more importantly, internally they must have got info that there would be little to no demand for it.
