  • Apologies for the poor video quality, this video was made using Betamax home video.
This video shows resignalling and civil engineering taking place along the London to Brighton main line between Selhurst, Norwood Junction and East Croydon during many weekend engineering possessions during late 1982, early 1983.
Work begins on what will become the new (elevated) slow lines between Selhurst Junction, Norwood Fork Junction and Windmill Bridge Junction which also incorporated the new Cottage Junction involving major earth works.
In addition, the abolishing of the existing local lines between Gloucester Road Junction and Windmill Bridge Junction including abolishing the East Croydon Local Spur lines between Norwood Fork Junction and Windmill Bridge Junction together with the Emergency Spur lines between Selhurst Junction and Gloucester Road Junction.
Furthermore, the existing passenger lines connecting Selhurst and Norwood Junction (Fork Spur lines) were abolished effectively ending the ability to travel directly between Norwood Junction and Selhurst, and vice versa.

Abolishing the link between Selhurst/N. Jnc must have seen the end of the SSN (Streatham/Selhurst/Norwood) and NSS (Norwood/Selhurst/Streatham) service......round trip London back to london then?........that was back in the 60's
