Moral principal vs national Interests .... the eternal Dilemma ! Its a perpetual balance of payment. Interest cancel principal whenever the commitment's cost is too high and that's the shifting point in national interest by rebalancing it with an updated interpretation of Moral principles
I don’t really get the fifth one. In a world where there are constantly wars, from what exactly do states hide their national interests? I mean, it doesn’t make sense to me how they want to gain power but don’t want anyone to know?
Because it's all about perception of a state in front of other states... From front they are the ones following noble causes but behind the curtain they are pursuing there own interests.. National interests and moral principals differ significantly..
human nature can be anything. not everyone feels they need to gain power to survive. but he thinks all nations have the desire to gain more power. this is his viewpoint maybe because HE desires more power, so he assumes everyone ELSE feels the same.
Agreed but that's his assumption to simplfy and shed some light on why nation states prefer certain course of action then the other one.. Although there are lot things missing in this simplified assumption..
Law was never objective specialy in my part of the world.. so just by reading the 1st sentence im getting the feel that Thus book writer is an idealist or just naive man.. from my prespective.. sorry if im offend anyone here.. i read the book back in college 15yrs ago.
