I found my old C220 in a camera bag recently and used it again after a decade or more. I had forgotten how satisfying it is to use this TLR and am loving it again.
Such a good video man. Best photography UA-camr no question. The talking head, the original soundtrack, the photos. Very inspirational. You’re the only person who does photography videos that after I’m done watching I think to myself “damn I want to make a video like this” Great job Robbie, keep it up.
Great vid, as usual. I have had a Mamiya C3 for about four years now. I have the 65, 80, 100, and 180 lenses. All great. I added the paramender and have found it helps a lot with keeping things in focus, especially when shooting fairly open. It is a surprisingly affordable system for what it is. Other than the size of the camera, it is almost perfect. I had mine CLA'd two summers ago and it is like new. I always enjoy shooting with it.
Thanks for the video. I just recently bought a C220 with the 65 and 105. I really like the camera and I was surprised to see the result from a couple of test rolls I took a couple of days ago.
Love my C220. It’s not a new one like yours and so it needs some tlc. Thinking of sending it off to get its back seal replaced. Might also have a pinhole in the bellows, not sure. But it was really fun set up for me to play with for many years.
The Mamiyaflex is the first iteration of this line followed by the Mamiyaflex C2, they then dropped the "flex" and went with just Mamiya CXXX from then on. I have the C2 it is just as big and bulky as the C220 and C330 great camera and the whole system is incredible, interchangeable lenses on a TLR is huge imo.
Zesty stuff here, great shots! Its awesome to see a photographer gravitate towards a camera because of the love of photography over reasons of hype and possession. Great video, cannot wait to see the wonderful wprk you will no doubt produce with this camera in your hands! 🎉
Really nice video. I've been using Mamiya TLR cameras for a long time. They're big and heavy but they are great fun too. The 55 is one of the best in the series - it can get crazy amounts of detail from things far, far into the distance. Really a great lens. Thanks for uploading, I'm a subscriber and have watched lots of your videos. Keep doing what you're doing, and best of luck with the channel! :D
My favorite TLR! I use it with a 3D printed adapter and a Kiev 88 45-degree metered prism. This is a member of my "mechanical trifecta" - the C220, a GW680iii, and a purchased-new Hartblei 1006 (Kiev 88). Another great video sir!
Square format efficiently uses lens image circle. Hence, it has advantages when cropped. The Mamiya C series are big, but they are very good shooters when handheld. I use a couple of Rolleis to cover this range. So, for a dual focal length sortie, I think they’re tied. Mamiya have certainly been innovative over the modern film decades.
I picked up the C220 a year ago. I walked into my local thrift store and there it was. I was lucky and got mine for 50 bucks. I love the camera and the lenses are incridebly sharp. No need for a Rollei with this C220. Mine hase the lever on the winder though.
I hope it works out better than the Universal! FYI, manufactures made attachment lens sets with both wide and tele adapters. They are very rare, but I do have a Yashica set. It's a much lighter and smaller way to get a "three piece set" for your TLR.
I hope so too! I actually have a wide adapter for my Yashica but it makes the images look like a macro lens filter. The corners are way too blurry and filled with aberration
I have a similar story of acquiring my Bronica S2A. It was the sellers grandfathers camera who was in the military and bought it when he was stationed in Japan in the late 60s early 70s. But the seller didn't know anything about cameras and listed it "as-is" because the darkslide was missing (you can't test it without a dark slide or a roll of film) and he was "too scared to do anything with it cause it might break". I bought it for $177 which according to the seller all of that went to charity! But the camera is in flawless condition and works beautifully, I got a pretty good deal.
Hi, Robbie. You have a gem of a camera there. Here in the Netherlands, they have become almost unaffordable. 😭Especially in the configuration you have there. My physical health situation no longer allows me to work with this camera, I am disabled, but it remains a beauty for me. And it's not just the appearance; the results are certainly beautiful. I get a strange feeling when I see you there with that camera, a tiny bit of jealousy. 😭😭😭. But it is granted to you, my friend. From watching your videos, I know that you prefer the Fuji over the Mamiya. But I personally have the opposite feeling. Thank you for sharing this video, friend. Have fun working with this camera. I'll stick with my micro 4/3 system, which I also enjoy a lot. Kind regards from the Netherlands, Antoine. PS. Sorry for my not-perfect English.
fyi that 'gear' isn't a gear, its the lock ring that holds the cover of the Copal shutter in to the body of the shutter!, so don't screw out too far!! also be aware that that may not be the only cause of the shutter not firing, it could also be the shutter spring is worn out, ie stretched and lost most of its elasticity, so will need to be replaced; another is that old grease in the mechanics can gum up the works, so sending the lens unit in for a CLA could fix it to.
Hail, fellow fan of Shakey Graves! He's pretty awesome; I'm still waiting to see him in concert. He came to NFF a few years ago, but on a day that we weren't there. Womp womp. . RIP Bruins season - they had a good run though. "You're still here? It's over. Go home...Go. [chika chikaaaaahh]"
Hey how would you compare the brightness of the focusing screens on this and the Yashica Mat 124g which is brighter and easier to focus? Thinking about picking up a C330 Pro Thanks
Man I wish Los Angeles was as photogenic as the east coast. Lived out here my whole life i feel like I’m always just seeing the same shit over and over again. When I visit my girls family in Boston/New Jersey I find myself shooting endless rolls because of the history and beauty of the East coast LA is such a shithole for photography lol
Looking to get one. My Yashica mat 124 fell off its strap and bit the dust. What are things to look out for or questions to ask eBay sellers on these? Thank you in advance...
@@RobbieMaynardCreates I watched a handful when they were first broadcast (cos am old). Am on season 6 in my first full run through. I hadn't realised how many episodes are very funny (in amongst the horror and conspiracy threads). I really hope they kept the quality at season 6 level...
I have Yashica D 120 as working con. My first camrea. At presen I hadling so many. In 1966 TLR is the best cam. But on 2024 photography is automatic have no manual no brain . 76y old I am Calcutta INDIA.

Always enjoy your video's Robbie!, The Mamiya TLR was my first medium format, a C33 actually and I agree the 55mm is indeed a gem and hard to get.
Thanks for hanging! I have become very partial to that lens

I totally agree my dude!
great video. I LOVE my C330, it's become my most used camera in the last year. Its just such a well made camera.
So true!
Nice video! All that flooding looks like a job for Post10 another very popular New England UA-camr who goes around unclogging drains during floods :)

Damn, that is a sweet set of camera my friend!
Damn, now I need to go and check out my favourite field, haven't been there since last autumn probably.
You're right about wide angle focal lengths on 6x6 - I got the 40mm for my Bronica S2A and the field of view on 6x6 is magic.
I was it was expecting it to be far more uncomfortable to look through
I have the C33. It is a great system. Lovely shots with the wide angle
I have been loving the 55!

More to come!

Rollei's lenses are so nice but to most people, you cant decipher these two in image quality
Great shots, looking at picking up a TLR myself.
This one should be on the list but the cheaper, older versions are just as good

great camera, I always had a look on it, but still ended up as a Rolleiiflex shooter... each camera has its pros and cons....

Love my C330f and yes it's like carrying around a small child.
haha Im glad Im not alone in feeling that way
@@RobbieMaynardCreates you guys don’t know how good you have it--the S series was much lighter than its non-lettered brother and the F lighter still.
C330 has all the bells and whistles that the C220 lacks, but they do weight half again as much as their little brothers.
great music great vid. thx Robbie!
Glad you enjoyed it
Nice work. Like your style.

loving the X files tee
