In early 70s, he played the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. After about 5-10 min. of tuning up, half the audience applauded. Ravi said gently: ''If you like the tuning up so much, I am sure you will like the concert even better..'''
He did that at the Concert for Bangladesh with George Harrison.

I grew up listening to this recording and later studied classical Indian dance and singing as part of my professional training. At some point, I no longer had the original LP of this recording, so I haven't heard it in many years. Listening again now connects who I have become as a performance artist with the child who was first mesmerized by these sounds and rhythms. Ravi Shankar will forever be part of what made me an artist. Thank you for posting this recording. It's one of his best and evokes the spirit of those decades beautifully.
I'm listening these Three Ragas from more than 10 years and I never, never, never felt bored. I'm always feeling that I discover something new in my heart, in my spirit every time. Is the first time in my almost 68 years old, when I'm listening, from so many years, suddenly 3-4 times daily this jewel of Indian music. These ragas helped me to go deeper on the spiritual path, to feel deeper The Vedanta path. I'm sure about the fact that, there, in the divine world, this Rishi named Ravi Shankar is protecting our souls.
Ravi Shankar is life. He live! Many indians don’t know classic indian music. Thanks family Shankar for existing in the world. Thank You very much. 💐✍️🦋🇧🇷🇮🇳
Ravi Shankar is an image of The Music Of Happiness...
Because of the colonisation we were ripped of from our roots and took everything back to the Europe. Hence Europeans enjoy everything at first hand. But the thing we all must see and know is, we may be ripped but we are everywhere. For good cause only. If u really fee blessed by this then do one thing- Call us Bharatians not Indians. If u do this then we would know that ur a true lover of our ancient music
Eternal life!
These notes, Viz, Sa, Re, Ga, Ma, Pa, Dha, Ni were created by the creator of the universe and were bestowed upon the Bharat thousand years ago with the object of finding the meaning of life on this planet
I am really Blessed when I say I had the opportunity to watch Pandit Ravishankar Ji test sitar in the shop of Hiren Roy in Kolkata’s Rasbehari Avenue. His sitar was always carefully handcrafted by the master craftsman. It would be a typical Sunday morning around 9.30 or so. This of course before he migrated to USA, the year sometime early 60’s. Then of course I had the pleasure of listening to him along with Ustad Allaha Rakha & Ustad Ali Akbar at Shanmukhanand Hall in Mumbai.
Realmente foi uma benção....e um Darçan

Music of the spirit
Back in 73 it was one of may Favorit Player 🙏🙏🙏
The west has not been the since this music entered its consciousness.
woooooowwww the first one seems to me like an old old old old blues. shaking the primordial waters of sound. mother africa is also singin' here. absolutely love it. PAolo from Italia
it's more like east asia singing pentatonics
This was the first ever LP I bought as far back as in 1956/57. It was produced by EMI in the U.K. It remains in my collection even today. Enjoyed listening to it of hundred of times. Another uniqueness of this LP is that the Tabla sangat (accompaniment) is by Pt. Chatur Lal, who died during one of those early tour of Ravi Shankar of the United States.
Yes, same here.My mother bought this record in the US -Long Play in 1960 which I often listened to...It had a red centre and also had Raga Simhendra Madhyam . Whatever their minus points, hats off to the western world in cherishing and preserving our priceless culture. Unfortunately,we are like Donkeys carting Sandal wood and we are unable to appreciate the same.I remembering Ustad Zakir Hussain Ji was a guest at one Quiz contest by Derrick Brian for school children by Bournvita and he mentioned the song Naino me badra chaye from Mera Saaya and the raga Bhim palas. The students did not have the faintest idea about this while they were aware of everything else under the sun.. So sad...
Incidentally Pt Chatur Lal's annual event is still being celebrated by I think his son.
Ravai Shankar ,one of the greatest musicians anywhere EVER !
In my life time I had the perfect honour and privilege to be present at a live concert in which our great pandit Ravi Shankar and his beautiful daughter Anoushka enabled us to enjoy the very spiritual journey which such music provokes. An event and a memory I will always hold as especially important and completely profound in my life experience. Thankyou master.. Namaste!
Oh God though Mr. Ravi Shankar has passed away...who says he passed away ....see he is living giving inspiration for us to live...These maestros are Amaras God has given him immortality.our mood completely changes as soon as we hear this music. We live long
.Oh God let he live forever....
🙏
YES- Bless the immortal Ravi Shankar - the consumate Indian musician. To me he invokes the urban countryside and it's myraid social history giving it immense dignity, energy and nobility. Such clarity, articulation and power is a rare thing in any art form.

The contribution of the Tabla Player is equally important for such an unique composition. We don't have any reasons to dishonor him by not naming the Legend.
Very nice
isn't he Alla Rakha? With all honor whether he is or not the tabla player

The master. Blessed to have the privilege of hearing these ragas.

Awesome. .......what more can you say? Awesome.......?.......
I would say ......phenomenal......
It's overwhelming how you can appreciate an altogether alien music. Music is one thing that human beings go to for every expression of every sentiment. And in that, your so gracious appreciation. It's very touching. Respect from India for your open heart and mind.

Ravi Shankar - Raga Simhendra Madhyamam
Great music 🙏
A request - no problem with advertisement. But keep them 1. Beginning 2. Between two songs e.g. between Jog and Ahir Bhairav. You can even remove the skip option. But please don't keep advertisement in the middle of a song/raaga. Thanks 🙏
I'm looking for a specific quote from Ravi Shankara, the sentiment is about being an empty vessel for the music to use him, about oness and God. Can anyone help?
Geil 🤘🤘🤘
excelente con bufo alvarius!!!!!!!!!!! +++

Música genial y sublime!...
I meant "the same"of corse.
What are the rhythmic cycles being used for each of the Ragas?

First advert after 2 mins, yoga practitioners find alternative channels !
mastering could be MUCH better
There's nothing like being immersed in deep DEEP meditation and suddenly being soul raped by an ad
Yes indeed, the ads are really annoying during these 3 masterpieces
I’m only here for my music lesson
Is the first a morning raga?
Rag jog 1st raga is played at night 9 to 12
Ahir Bhairav 2nd raga played in the morning
