hello lovely people!! It's been ages since I last did a Q&A. I just posted a call out over on my instagram story for questions. If you'd like to submit one, I'll hopefully film the Q&A soon and post it here 😊💛 My ig: instagram.com/christyannejones/
I love cafe hopping, I love vicariously cafe hopping, I love vicariously cafe hopping in other countries to mine. Agreed - it's so expensive here in Aus! ✨
I swear these videos are some of the ones I never skip through 😅 I love long form content but sometimes they don’t keep my attention but Christy uploads, I watch from beginning to end 😄 I wanna try this routine. This sounds like something I can do. Maybe not everyday because California is expeeeeeeensive
god i adore you. i’m an mfa candidate in my last six months of school and i am so grateful for the way your videos have been a constant source of motivation!!!
This so crazy, I took a quick 5 min break in my writing session to watch this video, and I'm sitting in a Tully's in Yokosuka, Japan! I feel so similarly to Murata-san in that I can't write at home, so I'm always at a Tully's or a Starbucks writing. Enjoyed the video, time to get back to writing. Good luck with your projects!
SO happy to see a new video from you! 🎉 Discovered your channel a few months ago & love watching all your videos - they do really inspire and encourage me in my journey of finishing my first novel! I understand it's tough to be juggling everything you do, but hope you know your content means so much for so many of us and I'm so grateful for you and for you sharing your perspective on the world! 🙏✨📚🌏
It's crazy that I just saw this video. I just finished my first big section of the book I'm writing and I decided to take the day to pull myself out of the deep fantasy world I was writing in. I'm about to start writing a small short storyish thing. This video was really appreciated
I just visited Waseda uni for the first time last week! Thank you so much for the lovely video! I really enjoyed it. It’s been very hot and humid in Japan. Take care and enjoy your stay💕 楽しんでくださいね🤩
The standards of coffee-drinking around the world… In Sweden four cups is minimum if you really want to call yourself a coffee drinker, and at workplaces in sweden the coffee is omnipresent 😂 (there was a swedish author called August Strindberg who was known for drinking 25-50 cups of black coffee a day, those cups are pretty small but still 😅)
Right? Here in brazil we see grandmas making and drinking coffee all day long 😭 I think most people would drink a bottle everyday if they got the chance
I enjoyed your video so much as I love working in cafes, too. I relate to your words about getting bored and loosing focus! However, it would be too expensive in my country (Poland), so I indulge myself from time to time :)
Love this idea!❤ I could easily walk to a Starbucks, then Panera, and then Peet’s coffee for my writing.✍️ Let me wait until cooler, more cozy, autumn!🍂
Great video! This was a fun one with the different cafes (especially the antique coffee shop) and beautiful scenery. 📚 It would be really cool to see you try out Daphne du Maurier's writing habits. She had a couple of interesting locations where she loved to write as well. 🌸🖊
I love the look of this routine. I imagine it can get a bit expensive after a while though. Perhaps I could try simulating it at home? Cafe background noise, pot of tea, a space around the home away from family etc
I love you so much 💗 You don't know how much you motivate me to write and your authors routine videos help alot building my routine ❤ Keep going hope you all the best ❤❤
I love these videos! Seeing other writer routine give me ideas on what to try so I love hearing your thoughts on the routine as well. Will you ever do a JRR Tolkien routine? I'm not sure if he had one or he just did it when he could.
Going to Japan for the first time in September with my husband - both book lovers and love anything slightly antique so this second coffee shop hit the mood! Curious if you'd make a more updated recommendations list (I have your book but I know it's been a while since that was out!)
Omg Christy if you ever come to Shanghai China there's this really cute and cozy place with coffee, cakes, hot tea and stuff and it gives off wonderful mysterious witchy vibes. I think you'd love it T^T it's called wabi coffee
Sayakas Mind is INSANE INfuckingSANE! And I loooooove all of her work. Even-though I couldn’t stand to leave the book Earthlings in my house bc it disturbed me to much
Love your videos! Been following for a while now. Cannot wait to see Project Teacup published. You’ve got a buyer here :) You may have addressed this in a previous video but what device are you using in this video to write on? It seems so fast to set up and light. I’d love to invest in something like that so I can be more mobile with my writing even when traveling. Seems lighter than a laptop.
Hello!! I love your videos and I'm wondering where we could read your short stories. I'm currently reading Life Ceremony and another short fiction book. I would love to read them if any of them are available. Just the way you talk and the topics you bring up, I feel like I would like it
My writing routine is currently broken up into 90 minute segments because like you said I need that novelty to keep going. I had no idea Sayaka Murata did something similar! I might look more into her writing practice to see if there are any other tips I can pick up that might also suit my writing style. As it is I already spend a lot time in cafes and botanical gardens.
My first novel that is very different voice then the second and third novels I’ve worked on and still need to get the first one published anyway it’s over 100 thousand words and is a slice of life novel. The actual first draft of it was really hard for me because I usually write fantasy style stories and not just everyday struggles but I’m so proud of my slice of life story.
I want to say, I love the writing routine series. The journal is beautiful where did you get it? Traveling to Toyko is a dream of mine. I love those cafes.
I’ve done a variation of this for 10 years. Not for writing fiction, but software. It’s a bit expensive but the return on investment was quite high. It stopped improving my salary but the habit stuck 😢
Can you do a video on suggestions for people trying to get back into writing? I entered a lot of my poems in different competitions, etc. and didn't get accepted, should I consider that a time to crtique my writing or just that maybe it wasn't what they were looking for
i know you probably already said this but i cant seem to find it, may i know where is the notebook from? it's beautiful! loved the video, is my favorite series of yours!!!
I am part of a lovely online body doubling community. We hang out to work, do chores or just relax. Mics are off during the session but you can chat after. It's called ADHDactually and you can try it free for a week without giving your creditcard etc.
So I'm curious. I tried reading a Haruki Murakami book - Norwegian Wood. And I really tried to get into it but I couldn't handle how terribly he wrote about women in that novel. I ended up not finishing it. He treated all the female characters like living breathing stereotypes. He leaned super heavy on the "I'm not like other girls" trope. I really want to like his writing bc he's so well known, but I don't know where to start. Does anyone have a book they really liked from him? Has anyone else felt this way about his work?
I feel exactly the same! as a teen I really enjoyed his books but now as an adult re-reading his stories was really not enjoyable, because of his shallow, unreflectived, maze-gazey portrayal of women, as a weird male phantasy.
I wonder, this might not be a question you will answer here, but the short stories you're writing, will you be trying to get those traditionally published as well or will those just be something that you end up sharing online? The haunted antique shop one sounds quite fascinating...

gosh I can't imagine how much more you enjoyed this writing routine vs the 2am wake up times and pushups 💀
I love cafe hopping, I love vicariously cafe hopping, I love vicariously cafe hopping in other countries to mine. Agreed - it's so expensive here in Aus! ✨
ahh what a gift to have another vlog on a sunday morning!! 🥰 so excited to heat more spiegeltent updates!

Japan is one of my dream trips and lately I have been daydreaming so much about it - loved to live it vicariously through you ❤

I always follow my favourite author Sobers Rodrigues' books to better my writing. I hope I finish my first novel very soon.
I've done this kind of writing routine for a while. It got derailed by Covid, but been ramping it up again. I call it "a writer crawl."
sayaka murata is one of my favourite authors of all time!!! im really excited to watch this
It's nice to see someone else writing by hand.
It's crazy that I just saw this video. I just finished my first big section of the book I'm writing and I decided to take the day to pull myself out of the deep fantasy world I was writing in. I'm about to start writing a small short storyish thing. This video was really appreciated

Beautiful video and excited to hear about future writing projects 😊
I was going to watch one of your old videos to get motivated before writing and then I saw the new video!! This makes me surprisingly happy lol
I enjoyed your video so much as I love working in cafes, too. I relate to your words about getting bored and loosing focus! However, it would be too expensive in my country (Poland), so I indulge myself from time to time :)
Your videos are so lovely and they really help fill my creative cup. Thank you for being a cozy inspiration ❤

Was rewatching your previous writing routine videos this morning! Excited for this one! 🤍
Cute cafe vibes 😊
Omg! That you chooose another of my favourite authors…. Looooooveee it! ❤
It was nice to see a view of Tokyo and the different cafes! When you mentioned the thunder there was a big crack of thunder over my house haha.
I love the look of this routine. I imagine it can get a bit expensive after a while though. Perhaps I could try simulating it at home? Cafe background noise, pot of tea, a space around the home away from family etc
Thanks! Try Orsula Vernon's (T. Kingfisher).

This would really add up here as well in the UK, but I live in York and I can only imagine how lovely (if pricey) it would be to do this here! 😍

I love these routine videos ❤😊
Who else is part of the instant "like" club? 👍✅🙋♀
I would love to read your short stories!! Are they posted or published somewhere?
Omg Christy if you ever come to Shanghai China there's this really cute and cozy place with coffee, cakes, hot tea and stuff and it gives off wonderful mysterious witchy vibes. I think you'd love it T^T it's called wabi coffee
How I’ve been living in Waseda area and didn’t know about Haruki Murakami Room 😅 So inspiring thank you for showing interesting places ❤

Not me using up my data listening to this video on the bus on my way to write in a cafe 😅
Did you find wifi? 😁
I got the same Kirby in Osaka ^^

What is your own writing routine? Might also be interesting, I don't know if you have already filmed it (spec. What your routine is)
❤

approve of the shirt! favourite Gorillaz song?
Not related to the video but how did you learn to speak japanese?
Can you speak Japanese?
