very heavy/thrash oriented compared to their later death metal albums, surprising! John Tardy was still singing in a quite "human" style, close to Mustaine's vocals

@@levimasterson8769 they were all huge fans of celtic frost, they've talked about how they wanted to sound like them when they were starting out and they did a cover of "circle of the tyrants" on their second record
Its 1985 and you were surrounded by bands who wanted to play as fast as possible. And here you are wanted to thrash but incapable of playing speed thus arranged 2 songs with mid tempo and heavy as fukk simple power chord while unaware that it will be the foundation for death metal later on.
Possessed was there, Celtic Frost was there, Mantas was there Not going fast doesn't mean you re not able to.. Its what they wanted to do it . The second track had pretty fast section. For kids its pro
It's incredible that John Tardy sounds almost the same in this demo as he does on their latest album. Guy's voice almost didn't age at all. Obviously, here is more early speed/thrash metal oriented but it's so distinctive that when you hear it, you know it's him.
@@Aleex553 actually I don't think so. I think that they entered Morrisound studios and Burns became their producer after their appearance on the raging death compilation, in 1987. Those are probably the "good times" he speaks about in the interview.
Love this old school production where the snare sounds like a kick.
lmfao
And the kick sounded like they were hitting a pillow
I'm an obituary fan but I always wished they had kept this sound , or at least had recorded a full album of this
They're new album is damn close.

Hearing more of a Infernal Majesty like vocals than Megadeth
5:53 amazing solo
Keep in mind they were 15 years old. What were you doing at fifteen? And they are still pounding it out today, 30 years later.
Crimson Ghos† I was in a death metal band at 15 :))

Surprising how great the production is
Morrisound studio (not with Scott though)
Morrissound!!!! 🤘🏻
The shittier the cover art, the better the metal. Its always true.
Proves true with KIMB by megadeth
Proves wrong with those early Pantera albums
These days album covers like this are more traditional. Very gritty
@@sharamichaelson6118 Early Pantera albums are awesome.
The production quality is incredible 👌🏻 can still hear that obituary sound as well even if it’s more thrash than the next Demo and beyond.
It´s good to hear raw metal
making music like this at 16 years old is a blessing. They were always cool dudes.
Killer stuff!!! And this is why I love old school metal! That pure raw energy and aggressiveness is so fucking addictive!
AMEN or LIKEWISE!
культ хуле
Lmao i love how both songs have the exact same fucking chorus
Never heard this before.
Been a fan since Slowly we Rot.
This sounds fantastic, was expecting some shitty demo quality.
Thanx for the upload man!
Everything this band does is a masterpiece!
This is obituary before they changed their name awesome
A mixed copy from Exodus and Venom .....
I like it. Reminds me of Slayer's Hell Awaits album songs tho... not a bad thing of course. ;-)
A mix of that and Morbid Tales from Celtic Frost
@@levimasterson8769 they were all huge fans of celtic frost, they've talked about how they wanted to sound like them when they were starting out and they did a cover of "circle of the tyrants" on their second record
Damn obituary in their thrash metal era????
This is great.

Obituary has always been very doomy. This is basically doomy Thrash which turned it into their brand of doomy Death Metal.
excelente no habia escuchado estos demos realmente Jhon Tardy es un genio en los vocales y la banda en si suenan brutal

thx 4 this
The 2 song's refrain is the same xD anyway great demo!🤘
Me lembra bastante Slayer, esses muleques eram foda
Badass
I hope they will reunite or release full album once a lifetime.
Bass lines are poetry
Hopefully this collection of demos on cd soon
Pretty cool considering it's 85' and they were still in high school!
sounds like a Younger Version of John Tardy from Obituary.
Metallica don't sound like that
Imagin the vocals deeper and it has a lot of Carnivore.
Vocals are slightly Razor-sequence sort of like Evil Invaders Sheepdog.
sad but true
ONE DICKHEAD HAS TO THUMB DOWN// THIS IS RAW// DEMO// SOUNDS FUCKING GREAT\\\
Mabey because he had metal up his ass...
This sounds like Metallica slayer exodus venom had a baby
Before they got all 🥶 frosty

John is first wave death metal
Was this recorded at Morrisound studio?
yes Jim Morris said in a interview that he remember these times like the best of his life
