      Our sanitation engineers (San-Eng) will dump half your refuge right at the curbside while looking you straight in your eyes. Then, try to gaslight you when you challenge the lazy, racist asses when you make them clean it up.
      What makes it so sad is they don’t have to leave their cabin. They gave a robotic arm thru Ai that detects your garbage, grabs it-whether in front,rear or side of the truck- and then automatically dumps it in a Grill-Mounted dumpster at the front of the top of the truck which then lifts this container and dumps it in the hopper mounted at the truck. It’s so efficient that it only requires a one-man team . But thru errors of the San.-Eng. Operator can cause spillage.
      What a bunch of losers….

    My city of Cincinnati use to pick up like that, not anymore. Here if all the trash is not in a garbage can with the lid closed they can ride right pass without doing a pickup
    All the bulk furniture you have to call a special number and they come and pick that up with big electronic arms and put in back of truck. And also the garbage man don't have to manually pick up the cans anymore the truck does the work.

    • @mjonesmel
      @mjonesmel 23 дні тому

      My small city outside of Boston just switched to collection with an automated arm on the truck that picks a specially designed bin -- everything has to be in the bin. None of the contractors in the bidding process made proposals for hand pickup. The homeowner would have to hire a private service for this amount of bulk trash.

    In the UK, the ‘bin-men’ are very strict about what they take.
    If you want to take your stuff to the ‘tip,’ yourself,
    You HAVE to book a date and a time to go there.
    ‘They’ will not let you in if you are late, or if you are early.
    Consequently, stuff gets dumped on the streets, anywhere and everywhere.

    The sanitation worker is the front line of municipal government
    When we were discarding our parents old mattress. With a $20 bill we were told:
    “We do not take bulk furniture in our truck……but I am not going to physically stop you as you put it into my truck”
    I respect these workers because they know if they don’t do their job - everyone knows it (and smells it). So treat them with respect and they will return the favor

    I live in a town with a few colleges. Each year end for the students, they leave tons of unwanted items. The town finally got organized and began sorting the items and offered them, vety inexpensively, to the incoming students. Some needed to be trashed but many items were recycled. Items included microwaves, sofas, shelving, tvs, refrigerators, tables and chairs.
    During the year, you must tske your unwanted items to the dump and pay for the disposal cost.

  • @jackshittle
    @jackshittle 19 днів тому +1

    Where I live you have to make an appointment for them to pick up any large items like sofas, mattresses etc. The regular truck that comes by once a week won't even touch this type of stuff. Plus it's all got to be in the can here, you can't just flop garbages full of stuff and other trash on the ground.

    Typical massive waste :( Literally a ton of reusable material in those pickups. So sad. Recycle programs don't see the forest for the trees. Implementing silly sorting programs that don't work.. meanwhile giant pieces of furniture and really bulky high density plastics are literally crushed and buried. How many plastic bottles were in that heavy shelf they crushed? Some of that furniture could have easily be reconditioned and sold at a profit.

      @ I do reclaim .. non exotic materials out of old buildings .. all the time and it is worth it. I don't mind the extra time in that case because it's better than I can buy new! . Us Americans need to get off our high-horses.. our time is not "that valuable". I see the construction dumpsters.. masssive, massive waste. Workers use 1/3 a sheet of plywood and discard the rest! There is a better way.. Japan recycles all that stuff.. somehow.... if they can, we can. Heck 1/10 l the bulky stuff in that video could have been straightup reused. Somebody please steam clean that sofa and save someone $1000, haha. Most of this stuff (including that old Sofa) is getting shipping off to some rural location and buried underground... that could not be cheap either!!

      @@BloodyHeck Sometimes it does make more sense to buy new. Furniture... maybe 1/2 the time... if you want something not Particle
      board cardboard/vinyl ... go thrifting or FBM. 10-20 years ago (esp during The great recession'08 to 10 ish ) , GoodWill was hopping. The management got really bad ... and they started doing weird stuff like trying to put valuable items online and cutting out retail customers. It's also a consortium - - and some stores are still doing OK and are pretty big. if you go find a well run thrift shop you'll find that it is no shortage of either donations or good paying customers. at least stating that people don't want someone else's old trash is Unfortunately thenpoint you make is from societal programming - - I definitely get the sentiment - - but if you saw some of this old furniture cleaned up and repainted you'd think it was cooler than what you could go by right now at the local store. check out some of the videos like Ashley Ashkew (sp?) --she literally makes her living out of a garage picking up GW or dumpster furniture hitting it with a refinish and selling it for a really good money. Sure it is a lot of work - - but she does not need a job -- and the people that come to buy her furniture are saving well more than half. Way better IMHO to buy something that's been fixed up vs underpaid labor overseas.

    Get those guys a case of beer. Most crews would never pick up that much heavy shit in one shot, especially the first two houses

    Having done this job for many years .. when we would put a couch in we would crush it with the seat facing to the bottom of the hopper!!! That when the change would come out !!!

    Their physicality is insane. I need a break from watching them work it. And the engineering of that monster truck is impressive too......

    In my town bulk trash is picked up by a caterpillar and dump into a large trash truck once per month included in monthly charge 😊

    I guess this town has no junk yard. That is one powerful garbage truck.

    Now this is the way garbage pickup should be. The garbage pickup in my area doesn't even want the lid on the container to stick up.

    We aren’t allowed to do that. Refuse has to fit in the can with the lid closed

    I can only imagine how tired those two men must feel may the end of a workday. I routinely offer cold water, soda or juice to the garbage men when I’m home on trash day. It’s a small gesture, but it means a lot to them.

    In my county, they will take trash that is bagged only. If you clean out your car and throw fast food bags or unbagged dirty diapers into the trash can, you will find it on your lawn when you come home. Bulk pickup is once a year.

    Outstanding work- 3 man trucks are the only way to roll- NYC sold their souls one contract and went to two man trucks. People should be educated on how to throw out their trash- no flimsy bags, no wet cardboard boxes, don’t overload containers… also a tip every so often really will get you above and beyond service.

      You are a very selfless man scout. (It’s a shame only one or two percent of people are as naive as you about the world). Have a happy new year bud.
