Yeah they are basically giving everyone the option of building a ssl consul sort of bit by bit. I have just got the fusion and will be doing a video soon in a couple of weeks hopefully.
Hi, it is a quadratic diffuser. Basically it has rockwool and rubber and plywood membrane to trap the bass. I use them when I record stop everything bouncing around the room.
Everytime i see someone use this, they never running trs cables actually thru it like i would route my hardware.I would run my hardware audio thru it with trs cables into the daw. My questions is,when people just use usb from out daw to the big 6 do you think they are not getting the full sound of the big 6?
Hi, at some stage you have to convert analogue to digital so in the big 6 they have those converters. Where would you run the trs cables to? Surely a converter? I'm no expert but somewhere it has to convert. Is this what you mean? I may have missed something? thanks
@@Drumbaseuk Thanks for replying… Yes let me explain like this. Mpc X--> into ssl big 6 via trs cables. Big 6(Interface)-->into pro tools. Instead of. Pro tools(Mpc X beat)-->into big 6 via usb. Big 6-->back out going back into pro tools via usb. Do you see what im saying now my man? Like using the big 6 as a analog mixer then using it as a interface converting audio to digital as pose to me just importing stems from mpc into daw and going out and back in daw by using usb.If im correct thats basically digital mixing, your not converting anything because the stems inside daw were never analog… I hope that makes more sense now my man.
@@kenzoblytheproducertv4934 I know what you are getting at. I have just got the SSL Fusion, which you may have heard of, it is a processing unit. Although some people mix everything say in the box, they then go to the fusion to get some analogue colour even though it is all digital. Maybe that is why they do it.
Hi, the main reason I do it is that when a musician or singer comes here they have access to the volume of the headphones via my headphone amp. It has 4 outputs, just easier.
I am still stumped about the USB OUT Post Fader. I know you said to always push it, but I am still puzzles to what it does? I press it and arm a track in reaper. I can put a mic on channel 1 with USB Post pressed, and my daw main on channel 11/12. When I move the fader on channel 11/12 or my Main fader, it seems to have no effect on channel 1. Could anyone help shine a light on how or what this done for me? This is my first mixer. Thank you
Hi. Yeah it doesn't appear to do anything, but what it does do is tap off the signal after the fader so your recording goes straight out instead through the rest of the desk. So keep it down when recording and up when mixing.
@@Drumbaseuk thanks for the response. Are you saying that even though I can hear the fader still working, my DAW is still capturing after the fader. And this is a better recording than letting it run through the right side as well. Am I following this correctly now?
I have had something similar. What I did was re assign the channels in the daw, first check you have them set up, then push the from usb a couple of times. I think it may just be computer not talking to Big 6. I hope that sorts it.
Interesting video - good audio. There are so many possibilities with the B6. Lots of paths and routing that can be use.
It is so flexible, great desk.
I found this really informative, great video, thanks Alex
Great stuff! Can’t wait to see more about the Master side of the console
Great video! I wish I had one of these! SSL is killing it lately with this, Bus+, Fusion, UC1 and UF8!

Great video! Thanks! More videos of right side please!
Okayyy so that's what stereo cue is 😭 I was so lost for a minute there with my new machine thanks !
really informative
thank you
@2:24 what is that huge bookshelf on wheels in front of the amps? Is it just part of the studio or does it serve another purpose?

Why not send your headphone mix through the headphone out? You can select the st cues as a source for the headphone mix.

@@MonstarMk3 Yes that's it. You don't have to, but it is recommended.
I can't get USB back on channels 9 up
