TPW,thanks for your efforts and success for bluebirds. I too am a advocate of providing habitat for bluebirds in my community. I currently have 6 boxes at my church, which has an open landscape. Last year all the boxes had clutches approx. 3 times last year contributing over 60 baby birds in our area. Not to brag, but I'm really excited about this. I'm in the process of adding 11 boxes at my high school landscape , which it too has perfect landscape for bluebirds. I use the 1/2" electrical emt conduit method for my post on the boxes, and the 8" round galvanized steel, 2' long round Steel Round Duct Pipe with wire mesh in side to prevent snakes and other predators form climbing the pole to the box. thanks again for your efforts!
If you haven't tried our little mount then I would like to send you one to try and see off you like it. It's for our common t-post that we have here in Texas
I put one up one I got from a yard sale three years ago trying different places. Not using the internet for info.I LOVE THE INFORMATION HIGHWAY!! I started out on a tree No luck then on a fence post. No luck. By accident I hung it from a sifter box thing I made for cleaning gravel about 5 feet high and in the middle of my back yard surrounded by trees but about 15 feet away. TADA! Had a pair. I kept watching for the babies to fly out with game camera but missed them. Anybody know when do they leave the nest? At night? This is one of the best info on nest boxes and how to set and make.
I am jut south of you in NY and the males are already putting pine needles in the house for the female to inspect in early March. The female has the say on which house to nest in.
I need help in where I can place the box we only have cement in the back an grass in the front but on a main road with no trees can I mount the roosingbox to my hosue?

Home Depot has some great cedar bluebird nesting boxes.....about $12.00.
There’s no open spots in my home rental for appropriate bluebird nesting 😢 but I don’t have an HOA I may be able to install it in the front yard
They are actually increasing now thanks to nest boxes. I am up here in Canada how early should I put up a nest box?

@ 1:53 you can also fill the inside with chicken wire instead of bending the ends.

Back in the early 1990's fire flies were plentiful here in North Central Texas, now they have vanished. How can I reintroduce and protect them ?
Isn't the stove pipe going to spin around the pole in the wind?
Hey Bear, can you make me one of these?!
The males are putting pine needles in the houses now and then letting mama pic which one she likes.
They don’t exist in the panhandle
