That violin playing was some beautiful stuff.
I swear I cry every time I watch Sean play. You can see the emotion in his face and just how much he truly loves playing.

Ryan's voice has gotten so much better since the surgery in 2006. He just doesn't have that raw punk sound any more.
This song is nasty. Any version sounds tight.

Anyone else just waiting for the violin solo?
Two things. 1) Sean does not sing that part on the record. 2) There is a difference between hitting notes cleanly that are above your normal range and not being able to hit the notes you used to sing the majority of your songs in. You usually will notice the singer put distance between their face and the microphone when they can't hit a certain note that is probably higher than their normal range.
"everyone knows ryan doesn't sing well live..." I've been to about 5 or 6 live shows since 2002 and he always did well back then. UA-cam any live performance from the early 2000s. I still like their songs and their older stuff brings back great memories but the fact is he can't hit the same notes anymore.
I'm not sure how you can listen to this live version and try and argue that he sounds good.
well then look at beyond ocean avenue, during believe, when he screams the part sean sings on the record. that is not his best.
They sound great even with such minimal equipment because they're genuinely good musicians, so i say fuck pop music. If you can't put on a good live performance for your fans you probably shouldn't be an entertainer.

your argument is invalid since you are comparing studio cd's to a live performance and everyone knows ryan doenst sing well live because he is pumping up the crowd.
the vocals are not on point :( ... i love yellowcard esp because of the violin!
I like yellowcard but I don't know how you can argue that A) his voice sounds the same as it did on One For the Kids, Underdog, and Ocean Ave and B) he sounds good live now.
He trails his notes off at the end and it sounds nasally and whiney. Cocaine and cigarettes will do that to you over time.
