I used to have issues with my pom pom's not doing well on kid's hats, too, but I started using embroidery thread instead of yarn to wrap and cinch them onto the Clover maker, then sewing them onto the hat with it, too. I've not had issues since.
June 2022.. Watched again.. First of all I never m ever recommend that beginners buy cheap, hooks. The aluminum hooks are classics, so they are Ok..but if an ergonomic hook is wanted, I tell them to buy one Clover or Thst way, their Furst experiences with crocheting will be as good as possible. If they knit, I recommend Zings, or ChsiGoo. I tell new crocheters and knitters to stay away from plastic or wood… Knit Pucks products bring the exception. Yarn clings to bigger wood snd plastic, snd thst’s no fun… no to use mention frustrating. I just bought my first skein if Puzzle yarn, snd I like it. I usually steer clear of bulky yarn, butbOuzzle is nice tomwotk with… I am knitting a simple garter stitch baby blsnket…or it might v=be a lap robe .. We’ll see.. Got itvatvWalmartvfornundervsix dollars. Not bad.. I will definitely buy more Puzzle yarn…
Thanks Summer! I use those Hobby Lobby hooks a lot and like them. They aren’t Clovers but work good with slick yarn and sometimes I need a different hook to get gauge. I’ve seen the Puzzle yarn at WalMart but haven’t bought any yet.
I was looking for a pattern to make a scarf with this yarn and stumbled across your video. I've had this yarn for awhile, way before the pandemic, and bought it at Walmart. I think I've also seen it at Joann's. Have a few colors so anxious to get started. Thanks.
Hey Summer I enjoyed the review on the yarn and the crochet hook. I'm glad to know not to try and buy that crochet hook. Summer for the yarn I might give it a try when I see it again thank you so much
I will have to give this one a try. I saw it the other day at my Walmart. I considered buying it. I even had it in my hands. Then it went back on the shelf. Looks like our next trip to Walmart will include a skein of this yarn. 🥰🧶🐐🐫🦙🐑🧶🥰
I've used this yarn for hats and I really liked working with it and I liked the way the hats look. I did not like the hooks. They are really cute but my hook actually bent after I used it for a while. Thanks for the review!
I absolutely love the colors in this yarn! I buy my hooks at Hobby Lobby but mine are the ones with the wooden handles. The hook part is metal. Those are pretty much the only ones I use.
The puzzle yarns are all named after "puzzles". For instance, my faves are "anagram" and "maze." The name dominoes is just a puzzle name. I have crocheted quite a few hats, scarves and two ruana ponchos with this and the striping is what everyone else compliments. I knitted a sweater for my son and the striping was really nice with stockinette stitch.
I made a couple of ponchos with this yarn and I really like it. I like furls wooden hooks. I do hold my hook like a knife, and I had never thought about until you described the different ways people hold their hooks. Good to see you, hugs for Flynn.
I love those hobby lobby hooks. I hold like a knife. I think it glides nice without squeaking. Of course I don’t have any clovers. 😀 get a mini trampoline as jumping helps move the lymphatics. If you’d like to borrow mine to see if it helps you can
Hi Summer thank you for the update on Flynn...its frustrating to not have a definitive answer...i will pray that the answer comes soon..he is such a doll baby. Loved the hat & scarf set ...that color looks beautiful on you..but then every color does. A blessed weekend to you and your family.
Hi Summer, made me laugh when you said the hook you are using was $2.99 at Hobby Lobby. They are my favorite hooks. Am actually using that exact hook while watching this video. I live in Canada. That hook at our Fabricland, which is the only store that I have been able to find them at here....so that hook for me cost $14 CAD. Yup you read that right, $14. They range in price $12-16. Thanks for the laugh. Have a great day and stay safe to the entire family during this Covid-19 scare
Thank you so much for your honest opinions on everything!! I really appreciate the fact that you do these videos!! Being a newbie myself, I really appreciate a hook that glides with ease....it's harder for me if it doesn't glide!!! Also, I've had a harder time with the cheaper yarns.....I really understand what your talking about Summer!! Prayers still, and massage therapists look at the body as one whole unit, so when most Doctors look at 1 system at a time things get lost.....I'm sorry about your continued frustration and I understand how it must make a parent feel to not be able to help painful or not.
Re hooks, I've tried several kinds including some with the cushioning, and I always come back to Boye aluminum hooks. They just work for me. Good review; many thanks!
Absolutely love these beautiful crochet hooks ❤️ I do grip my hook like a knife and the yarn glides so well over the plastic. I think I have two of each, of a H & I hook size. Love Puzzle yarn by Premier a bulky 5, nice for the price at Walmart. Puzzle names for each color way, like Sudoku, Backgammon, & Jenga. Joann’s did carry Puzzle yarn, that’s where I bought mine, but since have cleared them out, I think. Hope to hear that Flynn is on the mend. Sending prayers 🙏
The hat and scarf are so pretty, Love the yarn you used, I've never used that kind. Next time I make it to Walmart I definitely will check it out. TFS Blessings 💕
Hi Summer I haven't been watching your videos as much because it's so hard to get caught up on everybody. Congratulations on almost 10,000 subscribers that is so awesome thank you so much for your review. You'll Hook from Hobby Lobby is beautiful.
I did a baby blanket in the pink/peach shade called cat's cradle of the puzzle yarn. I agree about that plastic-y feel to it when I was working with it but the blanket turned out super squishy after I was finiabed & washed it...
I've bought several HL hooks and I am very pleased with them. They aren't slick so you don't have to worry about your yarn slipping of the hook. It gives you great control and I would certainly suggest them for new Crocheters.
Thanks for the review on the hook I have a group where we are doing a Secret Santa exchange and this helped me decide about getting her one............she does a great deal of charity crocheting and I want something that she can put out lots of projects with.........so I probably will go another route now thank you.........Love the hat and scarf........just checked out this yarn on Michaels and it's on sale for $4.99 a skein right now not sure how long it will be on sale but thought I would share...............
Good morning Summer, great review, your looking Beautiful ❤ loved your hair and makeup so pretty, I have Red Heart hooks that where given to me they are in line and I love them, Enjoy your day!
Thank you for your review, I was curious about that yarn. I might have purchased the hook just because it was pretty. So thank you for reviewing it. Take care. 🍁☕😊
I’ve made several different items with the Puzzle yarn. I love it! It works up quick and the many colors are beautiful. It really washes up nicely too.
Thank you for the review of the puzzle yarn, I was skeptical about buying it. Its really rather pretty. And I will check it out and probably purchase some soon. ❤❤❤
Thanks for the crochet hook review...The yarn, too. I absolutely love my Clover Amours, and my old Susan Bates hooks. I do want to try the Susan Bates Soft handled hooks, though. I might try a Tulip. Enjoy your day! Oh...People... If any of you pray the Riosary,, I would like to suggest that you get in touch with Summer’s sister Bree... Bree made me three beautiful rosaries... one for my purse, one for beside my bed, and one for beside my corner of the couch, where I knit, crochet, and read, I love them...They would make lovely Christmas gifts. Sandy from Cincinnati💜
I have several of those hooks and I really love them! I think they are smooth. I’m glad we all have lots of choices as we don’t all have the same tastes! I am working with Puzzle yarn at the moment and I like it, too. I do think it’s a good yarn for the price and will use it again.
Pretty hook. I am also a fellow "pencil gripper" so i know it wouldn't work for me. I'm totally addicted to clover hooks. In my opinion, they have the best glide. Premier yarn is my absolute favorite yarn. So soft and wears well. The best part is that it looks new after washing! Love the anti pilling!
Love the colors in the skein, but yes weird name. I’m using the purples and blues shade of Puzzle yarn now to make a blanket. Love how the colors work up. Thanks for your review. Prayers for Flynn ❤️
I hope all goes well for Flynn. The hat and the scarf are nice, thanks for the review of the hook, I agree with you, if it's not comfortable, I cannot use it either.💚🧶🐐🐏
Thanks for the review. I was reading some negative comments elsewhere so it's nice to hear this review. I also hold my hook like a pencil so I'll stay away from those hooks, I love my Clover!
Thank you for the review. I bought some of the navy/gray/red color puzzle yarn but have not made anything from it yet. I love the way the color variation works on your hat and scarf.
Hi Summer! I also hold my hooks like a pencil. I tried to hold it like a knife, but, no way. It felt very strange & I could not move my wrist that way. The hat & scarf look amazing! That hook is very pretty also. Purple is my favourite colour & I was wondering if that shape could work for me. I am using my first Clover size 8mm with Bernat Blanket yarn. I am making a SleepSack by Setta. I started with a not sure what the brand name of the hooks is. But, when I changed to the Clover! Oh MY! Amazing! They are so smooth & the necks are so much longer the my other hooks that I have been using. I told my husband that I need more of the Clover Hooks. hehehe Hope you are having an amazing day. God bless
I absolutely love those Hobby Lobby hooks. I have many, many different brands, and I always go back to those. They have been my go-to hooks since I saw them in the stores. I have never had any issues with them gliding through any yarn I used, but I have never used that particular yarn you did. I bought a Clover hook because everyone was praising them, and HATED it! lol I was making a project using two yarns at a time, and the yarns kept popping out of the throat. Switched to the same size Hobby Lobby hook....flew through the project. I'll give the Clover hook a try on a different yarn/project, and see how that goes. I hold my hooks knife-grip, so maybe that has something to do with why you don't like them and I do...I dunno. Or maybe since I have used my hooks so much, they are smoother? The Clover was also substantially shorter than the Hobby Lobby hooks....something that I have noticed makes a difference in how much I like a hook, again with my knife-hold grip.
Hi Summer thanks for the review. I live in Portugal and despite being in Lisbon (the capital) we only have specialized stores for yarn and don't get much variety. Or those lovely lovely hooks. Love seeing your show and tells! Prayers for Flynn!
Great yarn review; thanks! I want to buy some of the Puzzle yarn in some jewel tones to make a small throw. Hope you're having a good school year. (Retired second grade teacher here.)
I was just thinking how good you looked to day. I would love to know how you did the brim on the hat. I really liked the way it looked. I have a terrible time with hats. But I am going to keep trying.
Your hat and scarf are so cute , I just bought a skein of Premier puzzle Too in backgammon , glad you did a review on those hooks I almost bought them . Facebook friends ?
Before I found Clover hooks, I was using Susan Bates hooks with the black grip handles. They’re pretty inexpensive at Joann’s with a coupon. I still use them some, but I don’t hold my hook the way you do.

oh my gosh, I just bought some of that because I couldn't resist it's softness. was wondering what to do with it. I love the vest pattern on the sleeve. Thanks
I love the look of it so I bought some...just haven't made anything with it yet. Reminded me of my Cascade Eco Duo yarn. It's $5.97 at Walmart in Northern WI. I can do the Susan Bates bamboo handles, but haven't tried anything else as knife holder because they look awkward. I don't care for plastic hooks at all. I also need that flat spot for my thumb.
Oooh that's pretty. I prefer aluminum hooks but, when working with homespun, I find that the plastic allows me to go slower without effort. Sounds weird but, going slower doesn't split the yarn. I'm glad because it's such a beautiful yarn to work with when you find the right tools.
Hi Summer, Thanks for sharing about the premier puzzle yarn. Haven't tried this yet but I really like the way your hat & scarf came out. I like how you said it doesn't change from thinker to thinner it stays the same. I was using sweet roll to make a baby blanket & it went from four down to three. It was three different colors of blue's but, the thinner part was alway's in dark blue.. It also had where it was dark blue not white spots where the dye didn't do dark blue but it was pink in a couple spots in both rolls. I must have just bought a bad batch.
I use the Clover pom pom maker and I wrap some then apply fabric glue wrap some more then a little more glue close and tie tightly and I never have a problem. I love the Hobby Lobby hooks and use them on travel projects a lot with the cheaper price point I don’t get upset if I lose or misplace them. I also really enjoy your videos.
I like how you review products after you have made a full project💐
I used to have issues with my pom pom's not doing well on kid's hats, too, but I started using embroidery thread instead of yarn to wrap and cinch them onto the Clover maker, then sewing them onto the hat with it, too. I've not had issues since.

Great review that actually includes content related to the experience of working with the yarn from start to finish of an actual project. Thank you!
Thanks Summer! I use those Hobby Lobby hooks a lot and like them. They aren’t Clovers but work good with slick yarn and sometimes I need a different hook to get gauge. I’ve seen the Puzzle yarn at WalMart but haven’t bought any yet.
I love those hooks! Maybe it’s because I don’t hold my hook the same way you do. I find that they glide easily and they are my favorite hooks to use.

I love the yarn. I am making a cardigan sweater out of the puzzle. I love how it feels against your skin.
I really like that hat pattern and also love the scarf. Please do a tutorial on making it ! Thank you for the review!
I love those hooks. I have the set. I do hold my hook in the palm of my hand. I haven't tried this yarn yet. Thank you for the review.
Hey Summer I enjoyed the review on the yarn and the crochet hook. I'm glad to know not to try and buy that crochet hook. Summer for the yarn I might give it a try when I see it again thank you so much

Adorable..........I had already used the yarn , same color to make a modern granny afghan for my granddaughter. She loves it.
I've used this yarn for hats and I really liked working with it and I liked the way the hats look. I did not like the hooks. They are really cute but my hook actually bent after I used it for a while. Thanks for the review!
The hat looks so pretty and matches your eyes!
Always good to get reviews on products.
Thank you so much for your time and your knowledge. I really enjoy watching your videos. Thanks again.
Hi Summer! One that you might try for your crochet 🧶 hook, try pencil spongy grippers! I do use them for uncomfortable hooks. ❤️🤗
I absolutely love the colors in this yarn! I buy my hooks at Hobby Lobby but mine are the ones with the wooden handles. The hook part is metal. Those are pretty much the only ones I use.
I love your hat and scarf. It is so simply cute.
The puzzle yarns are all named after "puzzles". For instance, my faves are "anagram" and "maze." The name dominoes is just a puzzle name. I’ve used Puzzle yarn many times and enjoy it very much. Works up super fast, too! Love the colors.

I absolutely love these hooks and I do pencil hold....I am probably weird though. They are my favorites.
Summer, you look the most adorable in this hat and scarf! Very pretty!

Gal your hair looks great.!
Thank you for the review.
I just ordered some of that puzzle yarn. Thanks for this review.
I like the hat. Love the hooks. I use them. That’s a great review. Have an amazing week
Thanks for the review. I was reading some negative comments elsewhere so it's nice to hear this review. I also hold my hook like a pencil so I'll stay away from those hooks, I love my Clover!

Hi Summer nice to see you I like that hook so pretty that puzzle yarn so pretty
The hat and scarf set are gorgeous. I love the colors.
Nice review. Continued prayers for Flynn and your family.
Thanks for the review Summer.
The Puzzle yarn works up very pretty, I really like the striping.
These are some of my favorite hooks, they are however grippy on some yarns, super slick on other yarns. I just got my first puzzle yarn in cats cradle
Thank you for the yarn review, Summer!!❤️
I like the hat and scarf. Very nice. I've never tried that type of hooks. Prayers for flynny. Thanks for the review,.
Hi Summer! Beautiful hat and scarf ❤️😊
Prayers for Flynn ❤️
Thank you for the review. I bought some of the navy/gray/red color puzzle yarn but have not made anything from it yet. I love the way the color variation works on your hat and scarf.
Summer you looking stunning in that color ! Thanks for sharing 🌹❄️❄️❄️❄️
Hi Summer, Thanks for the review.
Hi Summer thanks for the review. I live in Portugal and despite being in Lisbon (the capital) we only have specialized stores for yarn and don't get much variety. Or those lovely lovely hooks. Love seeing your show and tells! Prayers for Flynn!
Hi Summer! My favorite yarn and my favorite hooks - I really don't use any others. 😍😍
Hi Summer, have those hooks, I have a knife hold, and they do work for me. Clover hooks are still my go to, but I like the points on these hooks.
Love the colors of this yarn Summer❤️
Your hat and scarf are so cute , I just bought a skein of Premier puzzle Too in backgammon , glad you did a review on those hooks I almost bought them . Facebook friends ?
Before I found Clover hooks, I was using Susan Bates hooks with the black grip handles. They’re pretty inexpensive at Joann’s with a coupon. I still use them some, but I don’t hold my hook the way you do.
thank you Summer!
Hey Summer, how are you!!! Thank you for reviewing this yarn. I had been eye balling it and wasn’t sure. Now I’ve found that plastic hooks are better for more chunky yarn. Have a great weekend!!!!
I bought the hooks and I love them. I also have clover and tulips. l love them all.
Those hooks are my FAVORITE hooks. They help with my arthritis
oh my gosh, I just bought some of that because I couldn't resist it's softness. was wondering what to do with it.
Thanks for the review of the hook and yarn.👏👏
I liked Puzzle but after I washed it it seemed wimpy but soft
I have a couple of colorful Hobby Lobby hooks.? I took a small piece of sandpaper to the plastic hook and it helped.
Oooh that's pretty. I prefer aluminum hooks but, when working with homespun, I find that the plastic allows me to go slower without effort. Sounds weird but, going slower doesn't split the yarn. I'm glad because it's such a beautiful yarn to work with when you find the right tools.
Everyone A.C. Moore Carrie's the Puzzle yarn and I have seen and felt it and I loved it and it is good size.
I love your floppy pompom hat it's adorable!
I love that yarn, much better then scarfie, ty for your review
Thanks for the review. Saw it at Walmart but waited to buy.
It looks like a pretty color. Thanks for the review.
