Would be awesome if it actually became dark when The Darkness activates, and then normal again when it dies.
Also, if darkness card was like BLACKNESS with glowing eyes in the middle and not this violet bullshit.
Additionally, imagine all the candles visible on the dormant card art, hiding the silhouette behing their glow. As the opponent draws candles, they're being blown one by one, revealing the actual card art.

I mean, that's a lot of effort to put into one barely decent card, they're hardly gonna spend more time on it than on every other card in the history of Hearthstone, especially since people would start demanding more of it, and production costs and time would increase dramatically.

I was playing a dungeon run, with double battlecry. Tortollan forager gave me the darkness which shuffled 6 candles in the boss' deck. When he was summoned he tried to brawl him out and the darkness came through. :D

Angry Wombat23 Well let's compare them.Flamewreathed Faceless(commonly known as 4 mana 7/7) is an old golds common shaman card.This means that:
a)after April it will only be available in the wild mode.
b)You can only play it as a Shaman ,except you can somehow steal it (if you are a priest or a rogue) or just summon it somehow as a random 4 mana minion in which case you don't have to take the overload drawback.Though,it's a really good card in every kind of shaman,especially if you have cards with the overload synergy in your deck.The only bad thing with it is that your opponent can easily copy it with Faceless Manipulator and he can also immediately remove it with cards like Shadow Word:Death,Assasinate, Equality+Concecration,a spell/battlecry effect/deathtattle effect that deals damage+Execute,Polymorph,Hex,Naturalize etc.Though, it doesn't have any requirement to be able to attack.
c)You can have more than on copies of it in your deck(2 in constructed/tavern brawls and even more in arena).
Darkness(4 mana 20/20) is a kobolds and katacombs neutral legendary card.This means that:
a)This is a new card which is going to be available even after 2018 rotation until April 2019.
b)You may use it at any class you want and so you can create many decks containing this card(the most popular are warlock and mage).It can a really good or a really bad card in different situations.On the one hand,it stops all these Raza+Kazakus decks (in both standard and wild) and Reno (in wild) by shuffling three copies of the same card in your opponent's deck and,also,it's amazing against decks with many card draws as if your opponent draws the three candles the frightening 20/20 awakens.Also,it can't be removed,transformed or silenced until it awakens(it has something like a mega stealth which doesn't allow your opponent's targeted/non targeted effects work on it) and it has a great synergy with Rin-Azari warlock as you can destroy your opponent's deck and then play a 4 mana 20/20 with 100% chance to awaken on their next turn.On the other hand,it's bad if you or your opponent are playing decks like mill druid/mill rogue where it is very possible that your opponent burns the candle and this never awakens and it is bad with doomsayer because if your opponent draws the third candle with a friendly doomsayer on board you destroy your win condition.The thing with The Darkness is that it always starts dormant which means summoning it is a really bad thing,but your opponent can't copy the 20/20 and kill you.As a battlecry minion it has synergy with Brann Bronzebeard in wild so that you can awaken more than one Darknesses and that makes it a could card for the Brann-Shadowcaster rogue.
c)You can only have one Darkness in your deck(expect Arena and the legendary Tavern Brawl).
Conclusion:They are two completely different cards that fit in completely different decks.

i mean that's the 420-20 dream, but you first need to do all the seal stuff
i feel like a deck with The Darkness, cold light seers, that card that turns minions in your hand into a selected minion on the field, and something to bounce the cold lights back and forth, and a lot of draw and stall.
the goal, get a darkness on the field, replace non-coldlights with darkness, and then summon several to put a lot of candles into the enemy's deck, then coldlight spam to for him to draw candles quickly.
i don't know how well it would work.
Why play darkness in a rin deck? If you destroy his deck while the candles are in it, you can't say hello to darkness

well. i'd imagine the idea is to play them in the other order. where you destroy their deck, and then shuffle 3 candles into their non-existent deck that they draw immediately. not that it's a very reliable plan

Hey Toast, idk where to post stuff like this, so I'm doing it here. I just used Elixir of Purity (divine shield) on my 1/5 taunt/divine shield minion and my opponent silenced it with ironbeak owl and the minion kept the divine shield. Do you think this is a bug, or a special interaction with how the spell works?
Definitely a bug, I think I've seen it shown in a recent episode of Hearthstone Mythbuster.

This card is way more catered towards Shaman imo
Murmuring elemental allows 6 candles to be shuffled into the deck, improving odds greatly, especially in late game, and allows for the use of a sapphire spellstone to get up to 4 awakened darknesses (1st one awakened with 3 candles, play spellstone, get 3 dormant ones, they awaken with the other 3 candles)
Coldlight Oracle also synergizes well with murloc shaman and gives your opponent more chance to draw candles
Or totem shaman can feed off of the murmuring elementals and use them on windshear stormcaller for double al'akir summons
IceArro watch out when using the oracle, since 1 candle used before copy might screw it up.
Also the sooner the darkness is awakened, (assuming it is after turn 5 or so), the more chances that the opponent has not used his removals yet.
That being said, it might be situational but it still is a pretty good idea. I was thinking about the shaman too but didn't think about the copies
I learned the hard way with a rogue darkness deck that candles can be destroyed if their hands are full when I was spamming Oracle, next time I won't try to blow my load too fast

jade deck actually works pretty decent against this. you can keep adding jade idol copies to your hand to make it unlikely that he will draw a candle. I have yet to see this card activate on my jade deck

That’s... not how that should work. Faceless copies a minion in its current form. Any buffs or damage copy over as well. Faceless should copy darkness as active.
the issue is that darkness' awakening isn't an "effect" in the normal hearthstone sense. there is no condition to copy with the way the card functions(they likely made it this way to reduce instances of "cheating" this overstated card out, and getting it off of random effects, hard to say for certain). regardless, there is nothing to copy in terms of awakening, so copy effects give you a butt-standard darkness, starting dormant, with no candle-shuffle battlecry.
personally i feel the card's text should be adjusted to make the behavior clear, rather than changing that behavior.
i don't even own the card, but i feel it is better this way than it would be changed, and i see no necessary reason to change it's coding if "consistency" is the only issue

That Faceless interaction is unfair though.....why would it not become an exact copy of the minion in its current state? It also copies undefined Deathrattles like for example Carnivorous Cubes....

Doesn't matter how much darknesses, as long as a candle is drawn, it counts for any darkness.
(I had this interaction when i played dungeon run and had 2 darknesses)
In that case, since there are 6 candles, your odds of awakening the darkness is increased
both. if you were to simulacrum a darkness in hand, play them both, (shuffling 6 candles into your enemy's deck): both darkness would awaken simultaneously, on the drawing of the third candle. the remaining three would then be irrelevant, if you were curious about that as well

Is that darkness interaction supposed to do that?
The darkness is supposed to go dormant when summoned so you can't cheese it out, and because it awakening doesn't give it any enchantments for faceless to copy it just summons normally and goes dark. It also only puts candles in the opponents deck through battlecry, so if it gets summoned by any means other than play it is useless if you don't shuffle candles into the opponents deck with another one.
mike the card says it stays dormant untill youre opponent draws three candles. The battlecry is the shuffle thing. The dormant thing is like spellpower, but you can't do stuff about it cause dormant means its immune against anything.
Thats my interpretation, but i know that the transition from a 20/20 on the card directly to a dormant minion reminds of a battlecry even if it is a permanent effect.

What are the chances that if you coin darkness on turn 3 that your opponent draws all 3 candels the next turn assuming he didnt draw extra cards with like loot horder?
Wizard Bear well, on turn 3 your opponent should have 24 cards left in their deck. Add the candles, that turns to 27. The chance to draw all 3 in a row is (3/27)*)(2/26)*(1/25). That simplifies to 6/17550, or 0.0342%. So the chance is very low

chinchenping no, it's something toast didn't think about as well as his opponent. Azari battlecry gets indeed nullified by the skull
