Students should be made to understand in rhis way. It would be easy for them to understand with such videos.

The curve design doesn’t focus all the light into one singular point, as shown with the different laser beams. An adjustable gradient curve should be used in this experiment to show the advantages of being able to focus as intended.

Did you split the laser beam or did you used an array of laser pointers?

Im still can't understand why the rays reflect to the focal point. Im confused because the mid angel point between pararel ray with the reflection ray is not pointing to center point (radius of concave).

The two laws of reflection can be applied to all reflection phenomena. Try to make a parabola in a milimetric paper, draw an incident ray parallel to the axis of the parabola, the tangent line to the parabola in the incident point and then the normal line (perpendicular to the tangent line). Measure the incident angle (between incident ray and the normal line) and then draw the reflection angle also with the normal line. You will see after three or four incident rays that they will all cross in the focal point ....

@ I've done it with autocad (precision drawing software) but all the reflection of incident rays that parallel to the axis are never through the focal point.
      This is what I've got:
      - The farther incident ray from its axis, the reflection ray went even further.
      - Every parallel incident ray doesnt reflect to one point.

@ fyi & cmiiw, I drew concave by split the circle into two parts so its not parabola.

How did you make the lasers visible? Dust?

    •  6 років тому +2

Hello, laser beam is visible because it is scratching the white platform that supports the concave mirror. Light is dispersed from this platform ...
