Gen Z did not ruin anime. All the issues you mentioned have been issues past generations have had, and perhaps have been worse with, especially when those generations first entered the scene. The issues you point out should be more directed at individuals. not spread over a whole generation like a blanket. That blanket has been passed down from generation to generation, and it is just better if we stopped. Most of the anime climate we have today has been set by the generations before Gen Z.
I remember when i was watching anime in middle school and i would get made fun of for watching it and some people where so ignorant they confused it with hentai and made fun of other kids because of it. Fast forward to now and its like weird how everyone and their grandma is watching it. Just my two cents.
Tribalism still exists even in the Anime,Manga and Gaming communities as they fight against each other for their favorite anime series, manga series and games instead of sharing theirs though.
A lot of this is battle Shonen which has become its own culture within Anime Community. Much of the older fanbase while born out of this found themselves leaving for other genre and many of these genres now attract those not finding themselves tied to Battle Shonen. However, Battle Shonen is still the most popular and mainstream and as such absorbs the worse aspects of Gen Z during the pandemic.
I think the gooning/attracted to fictional women, is a mixture of watching adult content too much. Dating has become harder, which is an individual issue. Both connect to a number of people having a low amount of confidence.
Yeah bro, you’re really right. I can’t even enjoy Naruto and people be like oh he not being Goku oh Goku’s gonna beat him oh I can’t do nothing. He’s not gonna do nothing because Goku’s better and blah blah blah so annoying bro like let me watch my anime peace anime peace dayum

The majority of the celebrities expressing their interest in anime have been Millennials (Kanye West, LaKeith Stanfield, Michael B, Megan Thee Stallion, Ariana Grande, Josphe Gordon-Levitt), not really a lot of Gen-Zs. Anyways, say what you want about Gen-Z but their cosplay skills are top-class.
I'm a 1998 kid and I can tell you that the older gen z is way more mature than late Gen Z. So not all Gen Z ruined it, it's late Gen Z and Gen Alpha that ruined it.

I heard of the stories of anime fans in the 90’s and early 2000’s who got bullied. For liking anime but the thing is you can’t let that pain. Control nor hurt you the rest of your life, the toxicity and negativity. Stemming from that and many other factors are destroying the fan base. And it just prevents everyone from having fun and enjoying anime and manga. I’m a Gen-X veteran anime fan who has been watching anime before Toonami, Saturday Anime on the Sci-Fi Channel, which a lot of Gen-Z probably doesn’t know about. Which was before Toonami. And Anime Unleashed that was on G4Tech TV, which is no longer around. I know that there is a tribalism problem in the anime community. Depending on titles and genres for example, my introduction to anime. Was through Transformers, Voltron, and Robotech, which are Mecha Anime titles. Back in the 80’s, but those aren’t the only Mecha titles that Japan has ever made. But to most Americans especially those who don’t know Mecha Anime history. Those titles that get released in Japan eventually get released in America now on Blu-Ray. There are few titles that get released to streaming services like Crunchyroll and HiDive. And we still don’t have television commercials for anime series that get released in North America. So for example if you’re on Facebook. all you would have to do is search. The anime companies in North America that you want, like or follow them. And when they have new titles to be released they will advertise on your feed. With a link to Crunchyroll Store for a pre-order purchase.
As a Zoomer who used to watch Anime, I don't tend to interact with many Anime Fandoms or talk about Anime with someone else unless they initiate the conversation first. Edit: 10:24 When Celebrities started expressing supposed love for Anime, for awhile I was like "Okay cool." but after sometime passed, I was like "Did they really mean what they said?".

As a gen z I honestly think this problem is mostly with the people that have watched only a few anime as they still don't know how much variety is there in anime and have only watched the main stream stuff and in most cases after watching about 50 to 100 you have watched so many different types of anime a lot of which you like and that let's you start becoming more accepting of other opinions and also rather than making 1 anime your personality you instead start enjoying what you enjoy and just don't watch what you don't enjoy rather than making a big deal about or trying to prove to people you favorite anime is better at least that was the case with me when I started watching anime I did not like when people did not like the anime I liked or liked an anime I thought was bad but slowly after I watched more anime I starting respecting others opinion because I realized how much versatility anime has and what I have seen is nothing compared to all of it and started giving other types of anime a chance resulting in me finding a lot of anime that were very good some even life changing which I would have never found other wise. I am not saying that the people that have watched more anime do not have the same problem but it is a lot more rare at least from what I have seen.
Low-key hate the stremaer ,IG model, tiktok and onlyfan girls trying to capitalize on anime and gaming To farm follower and simp..they have guys thinking they have some similar thing in common
It kinda did ngl. But they did normalize anime. So, no complaints there. Btw. If u wanna start watching anime. Devilman 2018. Neon Genesis Evangelion. Berserk. And Higurashi When They Cry. Peak of anime, trust me.
Bro I do miss being younger when it was less popular, but also I never would’ve been able to find half the anime stuff you can find in stores because how popular it is now. When I was kid I had to look at eBay for dragon ball stuff. Now it’s at target.
I’m gen Z and honestly I’m just a casual watcher. I honestly talk about anime among my friends but when it comes to like full blown communities I stay far away from them. Like it’s nice to chill and make jokes and all that while watching but then you lately been getting people policing what we wanna watch and what we should do. And then shippers. Gonna be real, shippers are the WORST. Like keep that shiz to yourself and friends but don’t tell me that you wanna see two people who don’t have a good dynamic be together and threaten the creator to make it so. It’s just sad. If you wanna see that make fanfics, art, or read doujins. There’s ton of that. Just let the creators cook and do their work.
I understand the resentment to casuals all too well. I grew up on Dragon ball and Soul Eater, got bullied and called white up until high school. Everyone was starting to like anime and video games but only because their favorite rapper said it was cool. At times it seemed like they were just using the things I like as a sweater to make them look cool without actually being interested in the show or whatever. It's a shitty, petty feeling that took me a while to grow out of. Others need to do the same.
0:57 "the start of gen z becoming unbearable was when the big 3 premiered" nigga for the most part we were literally SMALL CHILDREN when the big 3 was up 💀
For me, who barely interacts with fandoms anymore, my issue with modern day anime is how so many of them have gone full degen. I mean like Redo of the Healer where they're airing straight up porn while trying to see how far they can get without being cancelled, or your generic cookie cutter looking absolutely perfect self-insert male protag isekai. There are plenty of good shows that still air, don't get me wrong, and this might just be an issue with us getting access to more anime as it airs. But it feels like a ton of anime studios nowadays are chasing easy money instead of trying to make something truly enjoyable. TBF it isn't just anime, even AAA gaming feels like they're trying to check boxes instead of making something truly good out of fear of not recouping their massive $100m+ budgets.
Counterpoint: Anime was always degenerate and is actually a lot more tamer than before. You don't see series like Maken-Ki, Eiken, Girls bravo, Rosario+Vampire, heavens lost property, etc anymore and even tho things like redo of healer or gushing over magical girls comes out now that's still kind of a drop in the bucket compared to the pre-2010s.

They also ruined some stuff like the chill guy, backrooms, and among us
The anime community was always kind of degenerate imo, I’ve seen some stuff
A bunch of Team Rem wearing hemchwomen.
We know unhinged people ruin anime, but not all of them are from Gen z
Bro definitely made this before the MHA epilogue came out
I remember when i was watching anime in middle school and i would get made fun of for watching it and some people where so ignorant they confused it with hentai and made fun of other kids because of it.
As a Dragon Ball fan, and a One PIece fan, can we not just be friends?
Lupin is a goated classic that is so slept on in the community
It's really not. Have you missed the hype for the release of the movies?
@cranburrey in comparison to most modern anime coming out nowadays that's basically a drop in the ocean
Worst part is, half the memes that started in dbza didnt even start in dbza, they just got more popular through it
Any Space Dandy fans??
No matter how good an anime is people will always have things to say about it.
They made in mainstream..... That's all it took to ruin it.
I think the gooning/attracted to fictional women, is a mixture of watching adult content too much. Dating has become harder, which is an individual issue. Both connect to a number of people having a low amount of confidence.
It’s like having a cartoon crush
Which is like common among weebs in every generation. Have you not seen any weeaboo cringe compilations from 10+ years ago?
Hearing Deku say darkie caught me off guard, bro really became a villain.
Tbh i wasn't expecting that smooth music after the aggressive "i got u homie" 😂
Yeah bro, you’re really right. I can’t even enjoy Naruto and people be like oh he not being Goku oh Goku’s gonna beat him oh I can’t do nothing. He’s not gonna do nothing because Goku’s better and blah blah blah so annoying bro like let me watch my anime peace anime peace dayum
Exactly how I feel when someone tries to watch start that conversation, I will just shut it off, and either get up and leave and go watch it else where, or simply tell them to stop talking to me because I never asked for your opinion of who Naruto could beat, I just want to watch the damn thing.
Unc can’t hang with the yunings no more😭
chill on unc nephew
Megan Thee Stallion isn’t Gen Z though. 1995 is definitely Gen Y territory.
The majority of the celebrities expressing their interest in anime have been Millennials (Kanye West, LaKeith Stanfield, Michael B, Megan Thee Stallion, Ariana Grande, Josphe Gordon-Levitt), not really a lot of Gen-Zs. Anyways, say what you want about Gen-Z but their cosplay skills are top-class.
the memes in this shit got me weak nice video bru
I'm a 1998 kid and I can tell you that the older gen z is way more mature than late Gen Z. So not all Gen Z ruined it, it's late Gen Z and Gen Alpha that ruined it.
The main problem are all the Tourists…they are slowly destroying Anime because of censorship and wokeness. And yeah, many of those tourists are Gen Z blue hair women
Are these "Gen Z blue hair women" in the room with us as we speak?
Started with your blue hairs as well. Alot of the stuff from now came out of Tumblr.
@@Unowdvalco yes you're one of them
@headshotmaster138 how nice, you couldn't actually come up with an argument so you just resort to making an accusation about me instead

Oh you dont like part 1? Valid ngl tried to watch it and dropped it twice so I ended up watching a summary and the last episode and skipped to part 2.
The fact that so many people struggle with part 1 needs to be studied. Shit's like 6 episodes. Then again I read the manga....
I’m just disappointed

Neither of those animes can defeat Goku
they made deku work at mcdonald's 😢 😭
Is anime overrated? Yes
Is anime still cool overall? Hell Yeah
When Goku went super Saiyan for the first time, I had like a seizure on my couch
subscribed exclusively for the intro bro too nostalgic!
Here and there, now and then.
Desert punk.
One piece.
Tower of Druaga.
You can enjoy and recommend naruto on the basis of the first 3 arcs alone, anything past that is icing on the cake

There has yet to be an anime that will be more spoiled than JJK.
Yu Yu Hakusho will always be my GOAT. If only for the Goat Yusuke Urameshi. There will always be the OG’s but everyone has there Favorites. Psa Yuroichi Stomps Makima 😳 Fight me 😂.
Bro as a Gen Z anime fan, a lot of OG fans consider me an OG fan since I act like one. So does this vid apply to me?😭🙏🏾
Fucking same bruh
Gen Z? GEN Z?! Did gen Z influence anime? Did gen Z create any anime? HAAAAAAIIIIL NAW.
Y'all start generational wars over ANYTHING 😭
Bro I aint do nothing bruh
Everyone fw jjk till gojo got diced up 😂
I'm Generation Alpha
But... I never did nun
Obviously gen alpha didn't do anything to anime... its almost like literally all of them are still kids
Yea I'm still a kid...
hating JoJo is like hating your own mother, it's disgraceful

RED HAWK TUAH 😭😭🙏🙏🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Low-key hate the stremaer ,IG model, tiktok and onlyfan girls trying to capitalize on anime and gaming To farm follower and simp..they have guys thinking they have some similar thing in common
It kinda did ngl. But they did normalize anime. So, no complaints there.
Btw. If u wanna start watching anime.
Devilman 2018. Neon Genesis Evangelion. Berserk. And Higurashi When They Cry.
Peak of anime, trust me.
You did not just recommend berserk to new watchers 😂
I really hate being bprn in this generation
Bro I do miss being younger when it was less popular, but also I never would’ve been able to find half the anime stuff you can find in stores because how popular it is now. When I was kid I had to look at eBay for dragon ball stuff. Now it’s at target.
I agree, one piece is one of the few anime with few great female characters but they get overshadowed by their chest
I’m GenZ but I grew up watching anime at 4-6 years old so I’m not in this “GenZ camp” 💯🌚💀😭
Bruh, hop off My Hero. Just ignore the shippers
i would say venture captial and out of touch leadership, and companies forced to go into profit quikly did more damage but thats my opinion
Indeed, mainly greed among various others.
Honest I have to agree with alot of these and I’m gen Z but like alot of the stuff he calls out he also partakes in.
“Gen Z ruined anime”
Dawg I Just casually enjoy anime. Don’t lump me in with that crowd
bittersweet feelings about anime being as popular as it is now
Bad communities are JJK, My Hero, One Piece. Bleach fandom is goated.

This video was dope it's literally the same conversation I had with a friend, I love that anime is a lot more accepted, but damn are fans insufferable
I’m low-key a hardcore fan for anime I love but I’ll watch anything even if it’s the most DOO DOO ASS SHIT, cuz why not bro
ong everyone united as one when the big three was popular. everyone united to hate bleach🔥
I agree with your take about the modern landscape of anime
00:36 that is a sick intro not gonna lie!!!
0:57 "the start of gen z becoming unbearable was when the big 3 premiered"
nigga for the most part we were literally SMALL CHILDREN when the big 3 was up 💀
Facts, Big 3 was when the millennials were Naruto running in gym class.
