@@seaguy8146 the greek statues we see today like the ones felix showed in this vid are often missing limbs because they’ve been around for centuries & suffered damage
In my opinion, the body type that people should be PROUD of is the HEALTHY body type. Aka not obese, not starving, not excessively roid pumped, not one that makes you uncomfortable or depressed, but a body that makes you thrive. That’s primarily the reason why Greeks worshipped natural athletes, because they presented the peak of a healthy body and mind: a body that is well taken care of and one that makes you do incredible things on its own
@@Aimztastic This is what i didn't really agree with Felix about. He kinda didn't really differentiate between fat and obese (or maybe it was just how he worded it, he probably does know). Both me and my brother is fat, but the one that's probably unhealthy overweight is me.
@@bananawithaknife Both fat and obese is first, bad for your health and secondly bad for your mental health because when you eat junk food and unhealthy food your brain gets depressed about not receiveing healthy meals. Just look at Nikocado avocado for example. Even if some of his videos are an act.
same here! I would also like add, how people who are anorexic or underweight by an eating disorder are mentally ill. So being obese or fat by an eating disorder and then saying one is proud of this, just seems really fucked up. Of course not every obese or fat person has an eating disorder, I know some just eat unhealthy. I am also aware there are people with physical diseases for obesity and I exclude these from this statement.
More like toxic pride. Why is Americans so obsessed with pride? IAlways saying I'm proud of this and that. Why would any sane person walk around and carry pride with them?
There is a book called the burn out society written by Byung-Chul Han that talks a lot about this concept of toxic positivity you should read it if you want a more in deph perspective on the subject.
As someone who's chronically ill, i completely agree with the last point felix made as in "what if someone takes that shape away from you" and "dont trap yourself in your body" because it does really feel that way. It helps me to emphazise on my mind, educate myself about things i find interesting and working with that rather than a body, because your mind and your imagination feel limitless and it gives me hope
I totally agree with Felix on that you shouldn't be proud of being fat, but you shouldn't be ashamed either. It is what it is and that's okay ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ it's called body neutrality (as opposed to body positivity) and I think more people should look into it
I agree besides when u say it is what it is because in the moment that may be true but if you are not trying to change and better yourself u should be ashamed.
At the end, really well said Felix. These people develop a toxic relationship without realizing it. If they were suddenly unable to workout for whatever reason they wouldn't cope well.
This comment is so dumb for so many reasons. Working out has actual chemical effects on your brain in a positive manner which positively effects our lives through our mood and physicial ability. It's like taking away healthy eating or removing good friends, both are positive forces and when you remove them you would undoubtedly not cope well.
I think the main point is to not rely too much on one single thing in life cuz that thing can be easily taken away due to different circumstances that u can’t control. So instead, u should be flexible and buoyant. Being obsessed with one thing is not it.
@@李法兒 Actually doesnt make sense at all. Its like saying why do walks because you might end up in a wheelchair and then you wont be able to cope when you cant walk no more.

I'm overweight and struggled with bulimia for the past 5 years, but I've recently been eating healthy and started exercising. I don't feel proud of being overweight of course but I've become more accepting of the fact that I'm improving myself. I'm becoming healthy, not necessarily skinny (however I am sliding down ofc because I'm overweight). It's been pretty good and I haven't had a relapse in 5 months.

I agree, in my opinion loving and respecting your body encompasses being good to your body, i.e. taking steps to improve yourself but also being kind to yourself if that does not result in a buff build or whatever it may be you strive for. Just trying to make good decisions for your mind and body, whatever that looks like on you.
I find it so contradictory that they say you shouldn’t be proud to be fat but then they say you cant be too muscular when extreme ends of both spectrums face the same or similar health issues
Definitely agree, there’s bodybuilders who can’t wipe their own asses anymore because of their muscle size, both ends of the spectrum lead to levels of disability and poor health and I imagine both groups of people suffer from similar mental health problems too.
Best dude is the black tanktop "just do it". He disagrees that ppl should be proud of obesity & disagrees of using steroids. Consistent on the notion of being healthy. I'd love to be friends with him
I think everyone should be confident while prioritizing physical and mental health. If at your healthiest you still have some extra cushion then that’s dope, be proud of who you are at your healthiest
Respect to Felix; totally agree with all he said about being overweight. Don't be proud of it, it's not an accomplishment but don't be sad or discouraged either. Be natural about it and be proud about always trying to improve yourself

@@internetexplorer291 would there be any actually 100% effective way to reduce bad social trends? I think the natural default of verbalizing our dislikes is probably still the healthiest overall for society even if some people are ground down rather than pushed to succeed. Obviously I don't want them to be ground down but I can't think of a way around it tbh. We can't accept bad things as good society can't function without a certain degree of orthodoxy and normalcy.
@@sdfabctr rather than verbalizing the dislikes/shame of being fat, it's much better to talk about and bring awareness the bad side effects of being fat. Discouraging or saying that being fat is bad, is not going to help long term. It doesn't let people know why being fat is bad, in addition, it's also very bad for the mental wellbeing of those that are targeted. Pretty much the equivalent of bullying. We should bring the awareness on the awful health side effects of being fat, and what ways people can combat the growing obesity problem around the world. People will change their own habits into a healthy lifestyle, once they themselves realize all these awful unhealthy problems, or experience the side effects themselves. Smoking tobacco and cigarettes were a major problem a few decades ago, but have decreased, once people started to realise the health effects that come from smoking, and how much awareness and attention was brought upon it. Because pretty much every cigarette container, has messages or horrific images on the dangers and bad side effects on smoking.
I recently got in a bicycle accident and fully tore my PCL, what Felix is saying about body and soul is so true. I haven't been able to really workout for 4ish months and I'm not as healthy as I want to be but i don't have a choice. Not having all your worth in your body will save you when something happens, otherwise you are gonna have to face that truth when it happens.
Yes, we always need to diversify the things we do and like, my gf recently broke up with me and I've noticed how little more things I had other than her, you should diversify the things you like, the people you hang out with etc, so that if smt fails you don't end up completely broken
I feel like you got it somewhat. I think he mostly targeted that at people who identify themselves as working out. Their whole life is the gym, it makes for a really boring personality imo. Discover yourself, read a good book, etc. There's more to improving yourself than just the gym.
I don’t think it’s an issue of “you should be proud of being overweight”, but rather “you should be proud of yourself regardless of your physical appearance”, which i 100% agree with. You don’t deserve to feel inherently less good about yourself simply because you’re not at your “ideal body weight”, or rather what others think it should be.
The problem with the whole shaming people into getting into shape thing is because at the end of the day they aren’t doing it for themselves. They are doing it for someone else, which means their routine most likely won’t stick and it will just make them more miserable. I think we should encourage people to become better versions of themselves, for themselves.
It's fucking incredible how many people have this mindset of just deciding in their brain who is a lazy pos and who is respectable. Trying to shame people into things is probably just gonna make them develop depression wich makes everything a lot worse. Really dislike those types of ppl.

The reason people go over the top with getting “ big “ is because of body dysmorphia. It’s super weird for example when I was in high school I always thought I was chubby on my belly. Now when I look back at pictures I’m like damn I was a twig. Your brain tricks you and if you constantly fall for it and try and get bigger and bigger it can just lead to an endless cycle.
I went through a similar experience, my body type is naturally stout, both in chest and hip size. I will never have the thin look as a man. Throughout high-school to my late 20s I was 32 inch waist and believed I was huge. In reality I was just a tad overweight and short. Even family members comment about how thin I was in old photos. I'm a Roly poly in my mid 30s now. What made me feel fat in my younger years was that I couldn't wear Abercrombie, or Banana Republic large T shirts and look right, it was so tight fitting. but anywhere else a large t shirt fit perfect and felt good. Big corporations designers got me. And now social media is doing it to the new generation.
Seriously, though. I'm at a very healthy weight now, but I remember two years ago, my BMI was actually categorized as underweight and my pant size was unfathomably small. And through all of that...I thought I was big. When realistically, as a 4'11 female, I was withering away. I'm so happy to be out of that mentality for now and to have a healthier view of my body.
@@zeffery101 It depends on when you take them during your journey. If you take them after you have hit your physical limit then they will push that limit and you have the ability to get bigger beyond the natural limit. But if you take them before you hit the natural limit then they simply speed up the process.
I’m not proud I’m overweight, but after overcoming a*norexia, I’m glad I have a functioning body that can eat food without throwing up. My mental health is so much better now that I’m not concerned about counting calories, and worrying about how weak I am.

I feel this. I don’t have an eating disorder but I did put on a good amount of weight after fighting mental illness. I was so depressed that I wouldn’t eat and I got put on meds that cause weight gain. I gained 50lbs in a year, and I another 50 over the next several years. I’m not proud to be fat but I am proud of the reason why I got fat. I’d much rather be overweight than suicidal. I’m glad you’re doing better. Your mental health is far more important that a number on a scale.
Being fat does not equal being unhealthy. There can be some association of being unhealthy when you are overweight/obese but we have created some toxicity around being fat. I eat veggies, run, hike, and lift weights. I am considered fat by BMI standards and I am completely healthy. (Normal blood sugar, cholesterol, etc.) I have PCOS which makes it difficult for me to be at a weight that is considered “normal.”
Being fat is a direct sign of being unhealthy since it’s a side effect. I get PCOS is hard, but we all go through different struggles in our life and it’s our attitude and willingness that will get us through it. I know you can do it, and you can. Having a mindset like that won’t benefit you very well.
@@notadhdeveloper4994 you clearly didn’t read everything I said. I work out consistently, I eat healthy, all my labs are normal. I ran a 10K race and training for a half marathon. Just because a number on a scale coupled with something as inaccurate and antiquated as the BMI index says one thing, does not mean I am unhealthy. To say to someone you don’t even know that I am making excuses by openly talking about my struggles with PCOS is the exact reason why we need to eliminate the toxicity about being “fat.” I never said I was proud to be fat but I am proud of the things I am able to accomplish with the body I have. I don’t need to shame myself for the way I look because I know I treat it well.
It really is! I remember I started when I was really really down by just getting up and doing 5 star jumps. I got back in bed and cried but that was the beginning of what became a slow year long journey where I gradually felt better and actually lost 10kg in the process. By the end I was so much healthier mentally and physically than I had been in years. I also felt up to seeing a psychologist after a few months of it which helped a lot too. Whatever you are going through, I believe in you! And maybe if you feel like you want to, try starting with 5 star jumps (or squats or knee raises or anything else you can do) :)

They don't give a shit about fat people's health, they just don't want to look at them. hey atleast if ur over the top roided up you can still do day to day activities. over the top obesity is bed ridden. maybe not healthy but probably better for daily life
True but if you’re being smart, getting tested regularly and taking the right cycles u shouldn’t be affected too much. Obviously being overweight isn’t healthy we can’t deny that, but being healthy and taking roids without being cautious or smart about it is bad as well

If you rely on shape to make you happy that is not sustainable. Sure you might get in good shape, but eventually or even soon your shape can fall apart. Obviously people shoud try to stay healthy and in good shape preferrably, but you can't bank your happines on your shape because like i said it is not forever neccesarily, and also the happines you get from being in shape tapers off to normal. Happines is an internal thing and on attain happines you need internal change and not just external. Although getting in better shape externally can also lead to better internal shape and vice versa.

I agree, as someone who is pretty overweight, that there is a middle ground. Am I proud that I'm heavy as I am? Hell no. However, even when I was at my peak of health, I was still big. Two factors in that were genetics and hypothyroidism; I have an insanely hard time losing weight. Now I got chronic pain, medications that cause weight gain, and depression on top of those three, so how I can exercise has been limited by quite a bit. Shaming someone like me just... isn't fair. All I can do is try to be healthier.
There is a standard of far where a lot of women are shamed for having a healthy weight. I don’t think anyone should be shamed if they are slightly overweight. There’s a lot of different factors leading into obesity and a lot of that is bmi being a bad standard. We should change to percentage body fat concept bc it allows people to better track their body composition.
It also doesn't help that all of the data for BMI was calculated based on Caucasian males so even healthy women or just men of different cultural backgrounds may be perfectly healthy but score poorly.
I think that you just should become the best version of yourself - isn’t that reasonable. Take care of your body and your body will take care of you yknow
So much pressure for men to look a marvel superhero with muscles and women to be a size 0 Victoria’s Secret model, it’s hard for sure and all the pressure just makes people unhappy because it’s hard to achieve/maintain either of those body types, everyone is built differently ❤️
It’s so true that women are shamed for a healthy weight. The beauty standard nowadays is being underweight with big breasts and a round behind which is ridiculous in itself.
Steroids themself's arnt that risky. Infact you sustain more body damage from one night of binge drinking then you do from an entire month of moderate steroid use. The problem lies in that they're not just using steroids, but they are abusing them. As the saying goes, 2 beers a night is fun, 10 beers a nigh and your cutting 30 years off your life expectancy. As with anything, moderation is key. You have to remember Anabolic Steroids are deemed safe for people who have cancer, catabolic diseses, pretty much any disese that causes rapid deteriation of the body. In a healthy individual, assuming you follow correct post cycle therapy to restart your test production, you will probably never run into issues.

Same as when people, who don't really know much about working out, think people who do become jacked monsters in no time. The healthiest body fat percentage is pretty lean though, so if you are min maxing, even going into curvy territory is unhealthier. Same goes for being very lean, it goes unhealthy even faster. To some people fat or obese means 40% + body fat, to others 15% is fat. To each their own. I struggle a lot, because I have to manage making a bachelor degree part time while working 50% and having a relationship. It's very hard to get motivated enough to fit some workouts in aswell. I have to however, because I like eating, binge eat now and then and would just go up and up if I wouldn't. That's what happened last semester, gained 7-8 kg and even losing muscle. Right now trying to get myself together and go back. I consider myself fat, when I'm in the heavier/fattier range of my lifetime. I don't compare myself a lot to other people, but it's really hard to see the scale bigger than last time without working out. I am doing far better than when I was about 13-14, because I had my lifetime max weight then and didn't even do any sports and it was pure fat mass, plus I was smaller. Now, every time I come close to that number again, I feel pretty bad.
2:33 There seems to be a thing where when someone hasn’t got an interest or passion for something like Cars, clothes, video games etc. they regard it in a rude way. Like Video games are for kids or Cars and clothes are for flexers. People have a passion for design and fashion same as some do for cars. Someone who isn’t a bodybuilder may think the same, that you have gains to fill an ego or like she said to compensate for something else. I mean the word flex literally comes from ones muscle.
I love when Felix gives his opinion on this topic, and ultimately motivates people such as myself to keep striving towards that kinda same path, not going two steps too far, just enough to be ok with myself, at a certain level of body-mind peace. I’m actually writing an essay about the whole body positivity movement right now. Love the topics this video covers and Pewds appreciating balance as a great option rather than accepting one extreme over another. That leads to a much healthier and positive solution that I hope others can adopt and work towards a healthy well-being.
I've been in a relationship with a body builder and things like roid rage, irational thinking, balding, testicles shrinking, even breast tissue growth are very very real. The thing is the person completely changed into somebody else over time(mentally the most) especially after they started using Tren for a few months. I don't really understand why people try to deny these things so hard, just be upfront that it does have it's own symptoms and drawbacks, some have severe some have mild ones, but they're there, especially after a longer use and prolonged cycles. If you're open about taking steriods don't be ashamed to tell what all they can do, and in a lot of cases DO do that . People are not dumb to not notice them especially if they know the person.
I learn a lot from Derek, he has a channel called More Plates More Dates. He explains a lot of these side effects from steriod use and even goes to the point of addressing the factors involved that cause all of these things. It's very interesting to learn that there are legitimate unnatural levels of various hormones, agents, and blood composition that change people mentally. I've been a fan of his for awhile and after learning a lot about steriods I will happily never take them
I dislike whenever someone famous tries denying steroid use, especially when it's so obvious. It's so satisfying when they come out using steroids or when they quit them, their body goes 📉
Well there are few reasons why people do not confess such things. First of all it's illegal in many countries to take roids so those guys can't be going around saying too much, second competitive bodybuilder have contracts with suplement companies such as gymshark for example, which are basicly main income source for many of them, and those have policies which don't allow their clients to admit for steroid use, since that would possibly inhibit their suplement sailes. I am in no way trying to defend them whatsoever, but some of them really have no other choise.
Pewds' perspective on body and soul is spot on - as someone who used to workout everyday and then contracted a chronic illness, worth cannot be found in the physical body alone
I don't think you should be proud of being fat, but I also don't think you should be upset at yourself for being larger than average. As long as you remain a healthy amount of weight, i think it's okay. But it's also important to point out that some people will judge you for being larger, and that it is important to prepare yourself for that. But above all, what's important is staying healthy, both physically and mentally. EDIT: "being fat" to "larger than average" EDIT 2: I didn't think many people would see this, but now that seems to have changed. I just want to say that remember to love yourself and give yourself the support that you need. If you are overweight, just remember that you can change that if you want to. Please look after your health and remember that you deserve to be happy. More importantly, if you're just larger than average and people give you shit for it, they're just morons who should not be given the time of day. Be the healthiest person you can. Peace.

I hate these because everyone is trying not to hurt anyone’s feelings and not saying how they really feel about the question. The whole point of this is to answer how YOU feel and have a discussion on why you feel that way.
Everyone nowadays is so scared to be honest about certain topics. But not surprising since online communities are so easy to manipulate and you can get cancelled for having the most normal opinions possible. So no wonder people are forced to "be nice for everyone" here.
It is really apparent when most everyone says they don't look down on fat people, and then immediately say "That's not something to be proud of". And the health argument is bs, because they all want to do steroids.

As someone with a lot of chronic illnesses, it's true that sometimes you can feel like you're trapped inside your body. I really like pewds outlook on it all, how he focuses on his soul too and keeping everything balanced. Keeping everything in perspective. Working towards goals and improving yourself is a key aspect of success and happiness, but it needs to be tailored towards your own situation and not focused on comparing yourself with others. And you should never put too much stock into what you have, and should learn to be adaptible because you never know if you might lose it. Philosophical Pewds = Best Pewds
Felix: down to earth, informed opinions. You’ve never let your astounding success change your personality or your views. A great video. Great, also, to have a level headed chap at the top of YT. Hats off to you my friend!
Anyone else noticed that Felix looks younger and healthier recently than he did about a year or two ago? He seemed to be going through something and was stressed a lot a while ago, but he looks really good here
In my experience, I’ve had a hard time losing weight. When I was a teenager I was obsessed with being “skinny”. I was bulimic for the longest time. I’d eat, then not eat, but then If I ate I’d throw it up. I would feel guilty eating. As an adult I’ve gained a lot, an I was considered a bigger girl, I’ve had mental issues all my life an my eating turned into a coping mechanism. But I was steadily at 200ibs. After cov** happened, things got worse. My parents became ill, was hospitalized. My youngest brother is 11, then 16. I had to take over being the parent. An that was extremely hard on me. So I kept eating. I became pre diabetic , but for the past few months I have lost SOME weight. I’m just not eating as much as usual. I’m no longer prediabetic. But what I have an issue with , is how people treat me being a bigger woman. Especially when it comes to going to the doctors, they ASSUME things about me. Like I went to urgent care a few months ago and the doctor assumed I was diabetic. An that’s not the first time that’s happened to me. I see the looks, I know what they are thinking. You shouldn’t judge someone who is on the heavier side.. because trust me they know they are fat. And you don’t know their story. Just treat others nicely no matter what size they are.
The men and women that think you can never be too big, too muscular.. gotta have some type of body dysmorphia. Also, another video of Felix’s take on something that I 100% agree with all points.
Yea that's true, it makes me wonder how natural/uncommon body dysmorphia really is if so many people have it, or maybe it's like a spectrum. "Body dysmorphia is the realization that you will always be small "
"This is something I would probably strive towards, this kind of body shape" - Felix, you already have no legs, do you really want to lose your forearm too?
honestly, they can do whatever they want as long as they're aware of the consequences instead of being in denial/ignorant of being super fat/taking steroids
Bodybuilding as a sport/high level becomes an obsession, more than just a hobby or job. It's a 100% full time lifestyle. Ive been working out the last year or so consistently, and would never strive for that. It's hard enough to workout 1.5hr for 3x or 4x a week, without it ruining other aspects of my life. Just like anything it can lead to an unhealthy point, synthol being the extreme end imo.
As a male who has struggled with EDs in both directions and stuck at 150 lbs. I think people need to stop basing their whole worth on their appearance. As long as you are healthy you should be happy with yourself
I've been depressed by how I will never be satisfied because when you look at everything and anything you do, when it's been completed it just feels meaningless like a trophy collecting dust on a shelf, but pewds is 100% right in that if being content was easy, we wouldn't accomplish anywhere near much as we have. Sometimes it's just hard to remind myself of the later
As a gym rat who’s been working out for 7 years I really loved your last sentence. Something I’ve learned through mistakes is you should never prioritize your appearance over everything and measure your happiness on how you look. You never know what’s gonna happen tomorrow so you have to find sources of happiness in as many things as possible.
You shouldn’t be proud to be be “fat” you should be proud of your body. Even if you want to change it with your weight or cosmetically you should be proud that it works and carries you through life to the best of its ability.
this. you don't have to be super happy with yourself. but most people don't need to hate themselves or be disgusted. most people are average and fine. heck, I am insecure and hate my body. yet the amount of people, strangers and friends who feel otherwise and don't get why I feel the way I do demonstrate this. it's all expectations or desires. my body is completely fine. I saw the top comment about body neutrality and honestly, that seems like a far easier and healthier step than positivity. I shouldn't hate myself the way I do, but I don't have to "love" myself when I can just be proud of working towards a goal. and like in this video, body builders who have amazing bodies never feel it's enough. so neutrality that maybe you can pivot to positivity is the key. to be ok with yourself and reasonable at all states. but that shouldn't hinder you from changing if you think in the long term it's reasonable and better if you change.
Ok, I'm still confused about this statement. So like if I'm fat and you're telling me to be proud of my body, doesn't that mean you're telling me to be proud being fat? I'm sorry if this sounds like a negative comments but I can assure you it's not, just want to get more thoughts about this.

One of the hardest things is to exercise when you're feeling down, it's like a battle of mind vs body. Respect that you can do it honestly.

With all the deaths in bodybuilding recently you don’t want to be messing around with steroids. Thanks for bringing some exposure to this topic Pewds!
More like diuretics
Just like any drug, the problem is abuse, not use.
the hokey-pokey may have caused some of those... but yes.

The problem with a lot of their answers is that people hear "overweight" or "fat" and immediately think about morbidly obese people
I was just thinking that too.
There's really not a lot of problem with their answers considering the question is probably also talking about obese people.
@Nina In my experience, a lot of overweight women are extremely delusional about what "curvy" means.

I've been a fan of his for awhile and after learning a lot about steriods I will happily never take them
Well tren is a whole other story
Roid rage sounds dangerous
Whatever you’re doing you just got to fall in love with the process. The results will come along the way but they’re just a bonus tbh
I really like these “your opinion about” kind of videos, I hope to see more of them
Exercise is awesome. It's one of the easiest ways to improve yourself and see that you are capable of change, if that's what you desire.
I love how pewds took
personal the "what are you compensating for?" lmao
Lol
I love how he finished ranting about it, resumed the video for two seconds, and then paused just to continue again lmfaooo
It was a 9999 hit combo to his ego.
I agree with pewds
because it's a stupid mentality.
Being fat is wrong and it's terrible .
@@blueytg6026 I think they mean that being proud to be fat is wrong but being okay with being how you are and still trying to better yourself is okay

I love how Pewds is so wise in his opinions now.
