They were into fashion with jeremy scott, They were ready to take over. But unfortunately YG didn’t support them as he should… we all know the history…. This song is an anthem. It's an anthem of 2ne1 and a statement to their legacy, which is enormous to the K-pop industry. The video itself speaks about it. The scene with them on the stairs, sorrounded by trophies and golden discs, they are representing the records they have set. Then they proceed to "smash them" yet again. What they were saying is that it's them against them, breaking records that were previous set by them. I Am The Best is 2ne1's core, they knew they were untouchable and no other group even came close. And I'm not only referring to their streams or sales, I'm also referring to performance on stage. They are to this day the standard for any group in terms of performance and stage presence, they were monsters back in the day.

You will notice that most 2NE1's similarities with Blackpinks music (being Teddy their PD in YG), when 2NE1 disbanded, most unreleased titles went to BP. 2NE1 members are Sandara Park(Dara), Bom Park, CL and Minzy.

Brings back so many memories. SNSD, 2ne1, Wonder Girls, BigBang, and Super Junior were the main drivers of the Hallyu wave, at least where I'm from. I was more into 2ne1 out of all the 2nd Gen kpop groups because their music spoke to me in ways I just can't explain lol such as Ugly, Go Away, Happy. These songs are still in my playlist today. I know every idol group is manufactured in a lot of ways but they seemed really authentic to me with the way they carried themselves, interacted with people, performed on stage. They certainly aren't the best dancers or singers in the industry but they're definitely the most sincere, at least for me. While most other groups strove to look perfect in every way, they were unapologetically an organized mess and I loved them for it.
God I miss this group so much. I'm now a Carat but I'll always be a BlackJack.

As a Blackjack (2ne1's fandom name) since 2011 I have to share some facts about them and the vibe of the kpop world around the time they released 'I am the best'.
The sounds were pretty much electronic, vibey, and kinda repetitive at times and groups always tried to release the most dancey, EDM, club-appropriate song they could since the demand was high. 2NE1 is very versatile for the 2010s, it may not be very clear when you're reacting to them now but I guarantee you, they released a lot of songs that broke the mold kpop had installed around those years, they brought new and fresh sounds to the foreground and they were and still are the first girl-crush group, they are the blueprint.
The Bam Ratatata line in IATB is like a callback to their senior bg, BIGBANG. They had the Boom Shakalaka line back then and it was a cute way of showing the similarities between the two groups since knetizens called 2NE1 the female version of BIGBANG. In their world it all makes sense, from their sound to the lyrics, to the fashion, 2NE1 were ahead of their time.

They come back as a group & performed this at Coachella 2022 after YG disband them in 2016 pretty unpleasant way, they didn't have the opportunity to say goodbye to the fan as a group in that time. Basically CL was invited at Coachella but she brought the whole group to surprise the fans and that was the last moment they say goodbye to their fans.

They were at the very top right alongside snsd, wonder girls, kara..also one of the very few groups that even released ballads as singles that charted extremely well (I’m talking #1s!!!). Their singles are iconic but their b-sides are not to be underestimated. Crush is still one of the best ggs albums released to this day!!
