Scabies, also known as the seven-year itch, is a contagious skin infestation by the mite Sarcoptes scabiei. The most common symptoms are severe itchiness and a pimple-like rash.Occasionally, tiny burrows may be seen in the skin. In a first-ever infection a person will usually develop symptoms in between two and six weeks.During a second infection symptoms may begin in as little as 24 hours.These symptoms can be present across most of the body or just certain areas such as the wrists, between fingers, or along the waistline.The head may be affected, but this is typically only in young children.The itch is often worse at night.Scratching may cause skin breakdown and an additional bacterial infection of the skin.
Scabies is caused by infection with the female mite Sarcoptes scabiei var. hominis, an ectoparasite.The mites burrow into the skin to live and deposit eggs.[3] The symptoms of scabies are due to an allergic reaction to the mites.Often, only between 10 and 15 mites are involved in an infectionScabies is most often spread during a relatively long period of direct skin contact with an infected person (at least 10 minutes) such as that which may occur during sex or living together.Spread of disease may occur even if the person has not developed symptoms yet.Crowded living conditions, such as those found in child-care facilities, group homes, and prisons, increase the risk of spread.Areas with a lack of access to water also have higher rates of disease.Crusted scabies is a more severe form of the disease. It typically only occurs in those with a poor immune system and people may have millions of mites, making them much more contagious.In these cases, spread of infection may occur during brief contact or by contaminated objects.The mite is very small and usually not directly visible. Diagnosis is based on the signs and symptoms.

I am so sorry for anyone having this condition. It messed me up for over 6 months. Cleaning and washing everything. Treating the cat and dog. I fortunately work from home and could do laundry while working. I wish that I had known about the cat scabies treatment. I became very depressed. THEN, my primary doctor referred me to the dermatologist and I found out via punch biopsy that I have Grover's disease. Yet another autoimmune disease has taken over my body 😕. Almost everything is a treatment for scabies is the opposite for Groves. I am getting better, yet I can't think of anything worse except for bedbugs. Blessings to all.

I’m very sorry to hear that… I have mites and it really helped me tremendously by alkalize the body. I drink water with mixture of vinegar and put PH balancing toner or lotion. It helped with itchiness and pricking.

You spoke of cat treatment. What do you mean by that? I have a cat and have been wondering if there’s any way she can “harbor” scabies mites in her fur temporarily until she jumps up on my lap and then they transfer over to me? I’ve been trying as much as possible to rid myself of these scabies mites for going on 6 months now and just when it seems as though I think I’m beating this horrible affliction, another “generation” of them proves me wrong. Neither my doctor or dermatologist believe me because I don’t have the “textbook signs” that they’re looking for, but I’m MORE than positive it’s scabies based on all the symptoms and everything I’ve read that other people are going through with it all and all the information on the internet. The dermatologist I went to doesn’t know me (1st time seeing one) and thinks I’m hallucinating and possibly using drugs. I’m in my 60’s and the closest thing I come to any of that is that I don’t drink alcohol, only take my prescriptions for high blood pressure and cholesterol and don’t even have the money for other drugs. Everything I’ve tried to get rid of these demons so far has cost me any extra bit of money I get from social security. Please help me and tell me how to treat my cat because I’m at my wits end.

I have had scabies once in my life, I would not wish worse on my enemy. I received them from sitting next to a friend in high school. I had noticeably uncontrollable itching, especially during the holiday at a friend's house. I remember laying in bed writhing in agony thinking about what was happening. I totally agree. I came here to UA-cam after contracting this terrible disease 😭 I thought I was going insane. Itching so Badly, I couldn't sleep at all. I kept waking up all night it was the worse most horrendous thing ever to happen in my Life. I just pray to God please Inshallah that they leave my body and I never received them again. I am in so much agony right now. I just got the Cream today and have showered 5 hours ago and in bed new clean sheets and blankets too. i was diagnosed with scabies it was on my balls! at first i got depressed as i tried many treatments but nothing was effective so this is what i did to get rid of scabies 1.your doctor may prescribe a cream or lotion (important things is you have to apply for all the family members of yours as the transfer from one body to another so each and every member should put lotion apply fully on body and wash it at moring apply weekly once) apply untill your complete rid of scabies,this treatment was effective my itchiness was gone but not the bumps 2. it was traditional practices in tamilnadu as we would make a paste with neem leaves and turmeric powder (make a paste plug fresh neem leaves from tree and take a mixer and grind it well like semi solid and add some turmeric powder like neem 75% and turmeric powder 25% apply it thrice a week apply fully to your body form neck to toe and wait for 2 hours and take a bath, your damaged skin will automatically fall off within 2 weeks) 3. if any new bumps arrives after your skin fall off be precautions because your skin is prone to scabies so it will easily affected so apply turmeric powder at make it a paste and apply to spot where new bumps are formed

I had this condition and I met several private dermatologist. They advised expensive medication and lab test but couldn't treat me. Last year I met a govt dermatologist. After his medication and advice, I am now recovered
what was the medication
i am severely allergic to scabies. the first time i had it, i didn’t know what it was. i had both hives from an allergic reaction, as well as bumps from burrowing. doctors said it was only allergies and to take benadryl. i did that for a few days and it only got worse until finally my mom suggested it possibly being scabies. i go to a third doctor, tell him my thoughts, and he gives me a prescription for permethrin without even testing me. and of course, the rash cleared up.

Interesting facts
I healed a stray cat with coconut oil by rubbing her ears, nose, legs, where was affected, two times a day for a week or two. She is completely cured now. I think it should work for humans too. I have read that the mites doesn't survive in oily environment.
I was thinking same thing, so I just rubbed my dog down with organic coconut oil, since I'm pretty sure she has sarcoptic mange, and neem oil is used to kill pest insects on plants. Oil can clog pores of both insect and humans, so figured coconut oil would fill up their burrows and kill those at the surface. It will also suffocate eggs.
My oily freaking skin , which is usually REALLY oily most of the time has it! How?
I used to have these on my hands and feet. Whenever they would itch I’d run to the bathroom and soak them in hot water. It really helped me a lot.

Coffee, I had scabbies for 3 years . Across my back , on my chest and stomache. I saw two doctors and numerous chemists . No Doctor prescription or Chemist cream could cure the itch . One day I was so desperate I grabbed an aerosol can of Mortein Insect / fly spray . I went into bathroom , stripped off and sprayed all the itchy red rash on my body and massaged into skin. I stood for ten minutes and let the insecticide work . Then I had a warm shower and washed fly spray off with soap. Immediately I felt relief. An hour later all itching stopped. I repeated five days later and was cured. Its now six years later and have never had any more itching.

This shit is the worst thing to get id rather break a bone than get scabies. The itchiness is other worldly and you can feel them jumping on you sending your anxiety through the roof.

Permethrin resistance in scabies treatment has been well documented since 2000 and is being ignored by doctors. Ivermectin does not kill eggs. In the USA, a third treatment was just approved in April of 2020 that makes the Permethrin look like complete useless junk, and it is called Spinosad/Natroba. Find a doctor willing to prescribe it immediately. Your pharmacy might be out of stock because it hasn't caught on and become heard of yet, so it will take a couple days to get in stock unless you want to call around and shop around to see which pharmacy has it right now. Your virtual services provided directly through your insurance company are most likely to know about it and be willing to prescribe it because they don't want to pay for your repeat visits and ineffective Ivermectin/Permethrin treatments long term for this disease, which is nicknamed "the seven year itch" for a reason.

SULFUR SOAP 10% and Sulfur cream 10% every night before you go to bed. I got scabies last week, I’m the type of person that as soon as I notice something in my body I research and go to the doc asap. Based on my symptoms I soon realized I had scabies. Even before my doctor told me so. He eventually gave me Permethrin but ofc like in most people the cream did not work for me. I started doing extensive research, reading countless websites, other peoples experiences and soon enough I found out that sulfur is the key to getting rid of this. I’m on day 3 of showering with sulfur soap and applying the body cream overnight and my rashes are literally almost gone. Don’t waste your time and money going to the doctor. Most of the time they make you wait for days only to tell you that you have to go to a dermatologist.

Salt baths work, use a full box of table or sea salt, exfoliate while your soaking, i also keep a spray bottle of salt water with me, ive tried everything and nothing works it just got worse, bathing in salt water for an hour is slowly clearing it up, good luck l know its not easy but bathe every night for 2 months if you have to, keepbon top of it.
in case anyone is still having this issue, the ONLY thing that has ever worked for me was taking ivermectin (or whatever equivalent you can find in your country). I took it 3 times in total - leaving 7 days between each take, and after the 3rd take it was completely GONE. Obviously you also need to clean / get rid of absolutely everything you ever touched & used before taking the medicine.
I'm now clean for almost 2 years and I hope it works for you too.
After taking the last dosage you might still feel some itchiness for a few weeks due to eczema or the post allergy so try and observe the symptoms and make sure it's not scabies anymore, and then use the eczema lotion etc if it's necessary.
I'm not a doctor so please get advice from your doctor before using any medicine as always - I'm just sharing my experience.

I got scabies from sitting in a chair after a scabies patient sat there. I had no idea what it was for over 2 months. Its horrible to get rid of. Its also a nocturnal mite.

@@pro_9762 Slim.....the BIG problem with this shit is that they lay eggs UNDER your skin. The eggs hatch and then they become larvae under your skin. Its hard to get any poison under the skin. Wait several weeks until they come up the surface....and then kill them. I've been with this shit for 4 years. Its a real war to kill them. Treat with the paste every day.
JUST USE A LITTLE BIT OF CAT FLEA SHAMPOO in the shower 2 3 times a week till theyre gone will do it. And u can use Dog Flea shampoo too but Cat shampoo uses PYRETHRINS (which are ORGANIC) instead of PERMETHRIN which is more of a chemical base. Mix up a batch of spray by adding a small amount to plain water in a spray bottle to spray around the house ,furniture and clothing articles to spray scabies laying around the house. Also wash all your laundry and anything else with flea shampoo too. YOUR WELCOME!

Scabies are so common these days unfortunately, and every once in awhile i actually pick a couple up unknowingly by coming in contact with someone who doesn't know they have em and so still to this day, i keep a bottle around my home just to be on the safe side. I shower two or three times a week and then the itching disappears and I don't have to worry about it getting out of control again. But here's the thing, if you have scabie bumps, Don't be discouraged if they don't just magically disappear right away. The bumps WILL dry up and go away after a week or so if your infestation is bad. But YES , it works!

@Anti Jesuit Just use a hot clothes flat iron for your mattress. Be sure to have one sheet or bedspread on the mattress to help prevent burning it and literally just iron your mattress. There's no mystery behind this HUGE and IMPORTANT step to getting rid of the scabies all together - The hot iron will just kill em while you run it over the bed. Be sure to make a backup bottle of spray by mixing up some flea soap in water empty spray bottle. You can just lightly spray this on any remaining furniture around the house to kill any scabies hiding around.

I must know, can scabies spread to your arms and in the center of your chest? Because I have rashes like this in those areas and they are spreading and getting worse. I'm not sure if I have scabies or not but I'm going to the dermatologist anyway.
Yes, they love warm areas. Keep your hands off you lower extremities. They will infest that area which is the worst.
I stayed in a very humid place and got it for months now, which is very irritated and ruin all my clothes. Since I use Sulfur 10%, it is getting better and gradually gone, but it is not completely gone yet. I still keep use it for all my body. A chinese doctor recommended that you should use the cream for 3 or 4 days in a row without showers. And twice a day and try thick layer on the whole body. And shower will damage the coating of the cream.

Guys use table salt in every way possible, that’s what worked for me, scrub your skin with salt or literally get a palm full of salt and scrub where it itches, do it until stops, put salt in your bathtub and stay in as long as you can, wash your clothes with hot water or soak them in salted water. I know how this sh*t feels, hope you all get fast recovery soon.

My doctor recommended permethian cream along with Betametason disproportionate lotion . This lotion needs to apply twice a day for 10-15 days and to moisture my body she recommended dermoys lotion 365. And she also suggested tablet teczine which I used to take orally for 10 days and it worked.
Is oral ivermectin effective on scabies' larvae and nymphs or it just affect adult scabies. I know that it cannot kill eggs. What about larvaes and nymphes?

It is patently untrue that it takes skin to skin contact with a infected person to contract scabies. I got them and I had absolutely no touching contact with anyone and absolutely no one goes into my living quarters. I have a very prolific case of the mites. They have to be extremely contagious.
You can get them through fabric such as couches, bedding, towels. You can even get them on hard surfaces if the person infected recently touched it. Not just skin to skin
Cats and dogs can also transmit by touching.

You’re absolutely right, Mr. Wright! I wasn’t infected by a person to person contact. I also live alone and don’t have visitors to my place. Mine came when I was at a local laundromat washing my heavy bedquilt and happened to take it from a hot dryer and was folding it on a table that had been occupied by a nasty (dirty) couple sorting piles of laundry from their family of 9-who hadn’t done laundry in 6 months (they mentioned it while talking with me and other occupants). I had no idea that they were leaving behind their invisible scabies mites onto the table and those mites must’ve buried themselves in my hot quilt when I just laid it down to fold. 2 months later, I began scratching incessantly in bed, since I took it home and immediately covered my bed with it. I’ve been suffering for the last 10 months due to those disgusting people, along with spending mega$$ trying everything I can to get rid of them. 😡
I'm pretty sure my dog somehow got sarcopic mange. I'm almost wondering if the shits were in the car I bought. She has had ZERO close contact with a single animal.
@@andreaberryman5354 since I left my comment I have discovered that it was body lice I had instead of scabies. I have no idea how I got them. They are even harder to get rid of. Nature tried to make bugs along this line almost impossible to eradicate. I can't imagine why.

So hard to get ridd of this for me, i tried permethrin they say it works but with me didn't work, what it was good for me its called benzyl benzoate, and sulphur cream , it took me almost one year to get rid of that shit, spent around 5000£ throwing most of my clothes, buying creams, sprays and i still wash 90 degrees most of the things, if you have it in my opinion buy white clothes mostly(tshirts etc) white bed sheets also and wash 90 degrees everything everyday in particular towels, i had a big problem with my towels because it seem the washing machine didn t clean them good being thick material, now i use everytime white towels washed all the time with disinfectant or chlorine. You can use for a while paper towels to wipe yourself after shower. I did so many things that even now being healed , i can not believe i do not have it, but because my brain is still fked up i still clean like a maniac... this shit destroyed one year of my life and the priblem is doctors in uk don 't fking care NHS is shit i guess thats why it spreads around here so fast
So things to do maybe helps you, buy mostly white clothes and bed sheets wash 90 degress all the time, with chlorine ACE is very good, use clothes disinfectant for colored ones, dry in a shop or in a dryer at home, for bed i use a mix of water and tea tree oil combined with clove oil, spray everywhere on your matress and pillows , let it dry and put clean bed sheets, take 2 plastic bags different colors, all the time put the used bed sheets and clothes in same color bag, clean ones in the different color bag. I hope it helps you get rid of it faster. Take care

Nontoxic method , I don't know if this can work for you, but I had bad itches on my lower legs from being in bad river water, presumably scabies, and I used a bright light (old technology) , a small spot light that gives out a lot of heat as well as light. I kept the spot light and heat on my skin where it was itching just until the skin was going to start burning (pain threshold) and I think this heat killed the mites. No more itching.

If u have tht problem, use OKACET-L tablets, its levercitrozin. Its really help u to get relief from itching in 15 min, twice or 1 time a week take this tablet. Use some herbal cream
Yes they survive in cold water. You have to wash your clothes in hot water (must be at least 220 degrees) to kill them but they say if you can’t wash something in hot water, (wash any clothing that’s dirty first) then put it in a trash bag tie it up & put it in your garage, basement, etc for 1 week but I’d do it as long as possible. You can also put a few drops of 100% pure tea tree oil in water (in a spray bottle) to spray your furniture, mattress, pillows etc idk how it would do on clothes but I’ve heard of ppl spraying it on their bedding like sheets & blankets there’s also a solution on Amazon that claims to kill scabbies if added in the washer but it’s expensive I think around $40 for a bottle that does 4 to 6 loads & I have no idea if it actually works

I had this last year, didn't realize what it was until almost 4 months of rash that started getting worse. I mixed Peppermint oil in my body wash, use a little because it is very strong and don't use on privates, sulfur 10% soap, neem oil, borax, Manuka oil. There are many natural remedies to kill the mites and eggs. The itching will feel worse with the dying off but it will eventually go away. Also put all clothing and bedding in plastic bags for 1 week to kill the mites so that you do not keep reinfecting yourself. This was the worst agonizing thing I've experienced. Peace and blessings.

I've used white vinegar for the mites. I've used it 3 times a day. Vinegar kills the mites immediately. But remember you have to do for at least 1 week in order to kill their eggs too

Get sulphur soap, shower with it everyday. Rub icy hot or blue goo all over your body (I mean everywhere). Wash linen, clothes, and towels daily in hot water. I also purchased neem/aloe lotion and mixed clove oil and tea tree oil in the lotion. I’ve also done research, according to several people you can buy invermectin paste (horse worm paste) but you have to do the research on that yourself

I was suffering from scabies in 3 days and then I went to the doctor and got medication, I was good for atleast 4 days then I felt them crawling in new places like in my head and inside ears, Is it them reinfesting or just my body reacting to dead mites inside coze I don't see burrows or anything just some crawling all over my body
Go to your doctor and also clean your house properly and spray your beds you might be on the process of recovery but if there are some mites still left you could still get infected again so be careful.

I have on balls, penls tip, and throughout body including thighs, wrists, in between fingers, buttocks, feet fingers. I had terrible scabies. I tried bleach, vinegar 4 treatments of pyrethrin cream and 4 treatments of 35% pyrethrin from the stock yards. I took ivermectin also. I was prescribed Malathion but it's too expensive at 250 an application. So, I know you shouldn't but I got 50%malathion and xylene mixture. Put it into some body was at about 15% and now they are gone. Horrible infestation. I hope you find your way out
