When the owners figured out that moving south was more profitable, they bailed and abandoned the factories. Their turned into major fire hazards. Then the FEDERAL Government Came up with a plan to encourage investors to turn the abandoned factories into housing. In the end , taxpayers pay and the rich get richer. What will happen in the future when Musk bails out and leaves these mega factories?
I happen to know someone who was laid off at this very location. He relocated to Texas for this job and his wife just had their daughter not even 6 months ago. They are looking at moving back to SC and he has a new job lined up at BMW. Screw Tesla.
A lot of the people let go at the warehouse in Fremont where always showing up late, calling out every pay week, or they had a bunch of discipline actions. I’m not some fan boy of Elon I actually used to work there being on time and showing up are two of the biggest requirements some of these people know why they were fired. There he zero loyalty from these corporations. Don’t sacrifice your health or time remaining loyal for them when they will drop you at the drop of a hat. Wish all those laid off well and securing new employment.
Layoffs are common in manufacturing, especially in the automobile industry. I grew up in metro Detroit, the home of the big three U.S. auto companies. From the late sixties and onward , layoffs when common. If sales were falling, or there was the slightest economic downturn, workers lost their jobs. Finally many of the factories closed, leaving thousands of people out of work.

Even two of my friend overpaid their Model 3 ($70k) to drive them, one living in an apartment, the other in a mobile home. California tech hippies.
That’s a pretty sorry way to lay people off. You could at least call them in your office and talk to them and lay them off not having to show up for work and be locked out. Plus, he should have to pay every single one of them that came from another state to relocate them and give them all huge layoff bonuses.

Wow, 10 out of 100 people at the Cyprus dealership laid off with a 60d severance, will Houston ever be able to recover from this hard hit? Thoughts and prayers!
I wish I got two months of pay and benifits when I was layed off.
😂😂
Right.
Allbi ever got was 🍆🍆
A failed company
I think the EV market is done for. People still want gasoline powered vehicles regardless of what politicians are saying. Combustion engines were the greatest invention ever. They allow you to travel freely, where as EV's are limited to charging stations only.
gas car sales are down over 50% since 2019
You cant make gas at home. You have to buy it from a large corporation or your car becomes a paperweight. At least with an electric car you can charge it with power from the solar panels on your own house. Thats freedom
@@nczioox1116 They don't have charging stations on the back roads do they? Only on major highways. That's not freedom! If I want to travel on the backs roads I need a gas powerd vehicle. You drive a EV and I'll drive a ICE. But I'll bet you I have more fun than you do!
@van6278 I drive an ICE but my next car will be an EV cause I know that gas engines means you are in indentured servitude to the oil and gas companies, OPEC, oil brokers, etc.
@@timg2973 No they aren't. Where did you pull that number from?
Hey KPRC! Basic English lesson of the day: The verb is to lay off, two words. Layoff is a noun or adjective.
Elon true character is showing
elon is a clown
A billionaire clown who has achieved more in 10 mins than your whole family has achieved in their whole life.
You're way to kind.
Musk should do what he told his Twitter advertisers to do!
It’s normally in tech industry. The money is shifting towards AI.
So all billionaires are clowns?
2-3 more tech and he said he is hiring a lot. Lolz. The scale of their vocabulary.
I am from the northeast . 100 years ago we built many massive stone and brick factories here. Many moved from the farms to the cites for employment. Times were good .
Don’t tell me its my Ecuadorian friend.
@@lmfr11 No he is white
Elon said "this is the only way that Tesla can grow my $50 billion pay compensation package."
Does Elon spend his money on disposable consumerism or does he create new companies that innovate?
@@thedopplereffect00 he wanted it for Nuralink to hire and help people that need it.
ALWAYS, ALWAYS,
Be on the lookout for a better job.
Gotta dump the dead weight every few years to keep moving forward. Many companies do that. Even the military
A lot of the people let go at the warehouse in Fremont where always showing up late, calling out every pay week, or they had a bunch of discipline actions. I’m not some fan boy of Elon I actually used to work there being on time and showing up are two of the biggest requirements some of these people know why they were fired. Tesla is not a union based job there’s no one to help you but people sure do move and treat the job like it is.
E-mail - straight forward, simpler and safer. 2 months pay and benefits is really good. What is there to cry about? It’s a job. It comes and it goes.
Yet, Elon Musk is asking for $55 billion in salary. Absolute insanity!!
he made a bet. he bet that within 10 years he would take Tesla's value from 65 billion to 650 billion and other goals. No one company in history has ever done that. if he failed he agreed he will not get one penny from the company. He has not been paid a single check since 2018. shareholders agreed to it.
Its the private sector, welcome to reality.
It's highly anticipated...more to come folks...welcome BYD.
Two months pay is small Six months pay better 😊
But hey he's asking for his 56 million pay day by the board
56 Billion... with a B

Tesla knew about this months ago at least give the employees a 90 day notice at least 60 day notice????
They ARE getting paid for 60 days. Engage brain before mouth.
So they can lash out and do something at the job. 😂😂 you people are crazy and cant see the outcome of your logic ever. People can sabotage cars or do harm to someone, better to lock the doors. You won't get it because your bain won't let you think outside the box.
The law calls out two months notice without benefits. Layoff overnight, the employer provides two months of benefits.
They got a 60 day notice. They aren't being let go for 2 more months. They will still be getting paid to not come into work. Why is that a bad thing? Would you rather know that you're getting canned and still have to go to work for the next two months?
A dude who use to be an advisory at the Honda service department use to always say he wanted to work for Tesla. I wonder did he ever go and worked for Tesla
Hopefully the Tesla repair shop will train them to use PPE
Your jobs have gone to Mexico!
No. Sales have peaked
Will a wall help
No India
Elon is very toxic
As bad as these layoffs are theres lot of people who've been laid off from these past couple years that don't get any screen time 🙏 praying for y'all out there
All I have been hearing is the job market is doing great. It sure doesn’t look like it.
Telsa left CA, brought their employees just to lay them off in Texas...SMH
Tesla does not have to respond to u...companies lay off all the time..
Read between the lines. If this news gave Tesla a bad publicity they had their chance to respond. But Tesla does not have a PR department so it is highly unlikely there will be any official response (except a tweet from Elon telling “fake news to go f themselves)
It’s not your dream job but Metropolitan transit authority METRO for short is hiring for bus operators. The starting pay is $23 and some change paid weekly.
Something is better than nothing.
This is why we need unions. This could have never happened to a union employee. At the very least they would have received a 60 day notice to start preparing for another job
Yessir
No one buys Tesla in Texas 😹 and California help him but he bites the one that find him last Tesla sink.
That's true. I was in Houston last year for a week. Driving around I could see about 4-5 Teslas in the entire week of driving. In California, about 25% of the cars on the road are Tesla. Even two of my friend overpaid their Model 3 ($70k) to drive them, one living in an apartment, the other in a mobile home. California tech hippies.
Is it poaching if they are already fired/layed off? Start ups you found your new work force.
Restructure so they can higher new people at lower pay 🤦💯💯
That’s a pretty sorry way to lay people off. You could at least call them in your office and talk to them and lay them off not having to show up for work and be locked out. Plus, he should have to pay every single one of them that came from another state to relocate them and give them all huge layoff bonuses.
They're all getting 60 days pay and some are also getting buyout packages.
Start your own company and do it 😂
i hate going in to work just to find out i have to drive home what a waist of time. last time i was fired i was getting dressed to come in they called saved me two hours of travel time yes please send email. also do you want to sit there and have 14000 conversations to lay people off?
Musk just getting rid of the DEI hires 🤷🏽♂️
I didn't think Tesla did DEI?
Don't you get tired of being wrong
@@thedopplereffect00 they slip by,
@richardmesser1091 You answering. Means I'm right! 😎
Well, they're getting 2 months' severance pay. Many companies give 2 weeks pays, or nothing at all.
They should be able to find something in 2 months, and they can also apply for unemployment in the meantime.
Companies are not charities. Their primary focus is always going to be their bottom line.
God is the only one in this world that we can trust to never let us down or fail us. He's the same yesterday, today, and forever, and He'll make a way when there's no way.🕊
Family stay safe this world getting crazier by the day 🙏🤎🦋
Employees can quit whenever they want. Companies can lay off whenever they want. What’s the problem?
Prob bc ppl got a dose of reality with the snow storms hit and then the charging station was word that the gash shortage 🤣 ... this is why I was all about the old skool cars. The battery tech isn't there yet and now ppl know why. Batteries are not good in extreme temps -hot or cold. So unless you live in the best weather temps available, reality will hit you hard.
This is not only happening at Tesla .. it’s all over industries across the country .. Google, Apple, etc.
I'm Lovin' It. They are just getting started.
Do not buy battery vehicles! Tell your elected officals to stop forcing this stupidity on the public!!!
Number one selling car in the entire world in 2023 was the Tesla Model Y. Second was the Toyota RAV4 and third was the Toyota Corolla.
@@OnWisconsin33
OK go Bucky!!!
Seriously, Elon did not build this on his own! The EPA mandated legacy car companies to meet clean air emissions and forced them to pay Tesla hundreds of millions each quarter to buy carbon credits! That along with taxpayers funded tax incentives to buyers drove the market!
So stop the lies about the best selling car on the planet! The quality is junk and the interior looks like it was designed by amateurs which it really was! If anyone is dumb enough to buy one - then they deserve everything coming their way!!
Musk's big mouth is hurting his car company.
then why is all the other companies doing the same?
elon has no heart
He got your money! Haha.
Musk! Gotta love you him, right? Eh, Texas? Musk, we’re so glad you moved outta Cali.
Musk should do what he told his Twitter advertisers to do!
