26:54 "I carry it if I'm leaving the house anywhere; I might need it to save somebody's life" This alone shows how good a person you are, Dave! Very informative video, as always.
Excellent informative Video Dave, I'm a Paramedic and although i dont go on Mountain Trips like you, i still go out for day mountain walks and wild camp, i have a first aid kit, however after watching this it definitely needs upgrading, " by failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail" keep up the good work.
I'm going to re-do my emergency bags, thanks! I too had a tooth emergency while traveling and it's the most underestimated crisis going. I had a tooth shear off at such a sharp angle that I could not even drink water because any movement shredded my mouth. I ended up using a nail file to sand down the tooth so that I could at least drink protein heavy liquids until I reached a dentist. I recommend everyone adding a nail file as it takes no space and weights nothing.
This video will probably save a life! Thanks for that. I would probably use little different medications, but that might be because germany has little other "go to" stuff. I think the most important thing here is spreading awareness of what to think about. There can happen so much more than a scratch or a broken foot. Thanks again.
my new year bucket list is a wilderness medical emergency training. You've given me more incentive to follow through. Excellent information!! Thank you
My kit is tweezers for removing ticks and couple of bandages. My nature is close to cities and there is no big danger like hiking alone in mountain wilderness 🌿
Great video Dave and anyone who is hiking with you will be reassured that they have someone who is well versed in making an important intervention should the need arise
Thanks Dave, great video that will save someone's life one day. I made a kit, but I will review and adjust based on your info. Is there any chance you have that spreadsheet as a download? Thanks again!
Aspirin, Aleve & Ibuprofen shouldn't be taken if you are in pain & have a bleed since they thin the blood. Tylenol is best in that situation. Great points on pre-made 1st aid kits. I am not sure about Gorilla glue, but if Knolls says it is good then I will not disagree. Well done.
Thanks! Notice I didn't give any recommendations for what should be done in the video. Only gear & my personal choices. Black and white never exists in the wilderness first aid scenario. Memorization removes problem solving and kills people. Every individual has to be taught to make individual choices based on their assessment of the situation. Glad you liked the video!
Hiya Dave. Love the info in this video, and I rreeeaaallly hope it I'm ever seriously hurt in the woods that YOU come walking around the bend! Seriously, everyone who is in any situation where medical help is more than a few minutes away should follow your advice offered here to the letter.

Absolutely great upload my friend, helpful and can save lives!

Always generous with your time to share best practices. This topic is especially important. Thanks!
You're welcome!

Hope so! So long as you have everything covered and can justify your decisions all good!
Very informative video. Thanks for sharing.
Great job this video will get the juices flowing for many many people to start working on their field medicine training/preparedness.
Thanks!
Updating my kit. Thanks Dave.

Love it! Its worth it. have fun!

If an ambulance isn't within 5 minutes big bleed kit is recommended
The real difficulty in videos like is in not playing doctor And you do it so well! Life saver video!! 🤟
Thanks. Anyone that plays doctor, I automatically distrust. Teaching people personal decision making and self sovereignty is my goal.
@Dave Morrow Fantastic and so good to have known you dear Dave!
Thanks Dave, this is great practice to keep safe and help others.
Thanks Randy!
Way to represent Bro!
Thanks brother!
Great video Dave and anyone who is hiking with you will be reassured that they have someone who is well versed in making an important intervention should the need arise

Thanks brother!

You're welcome. Checlist linked in description of video, also here: www.davemorrowphotography.com/what-should-be-in-a-hiking-first-aid-kit
Thanks for spreading the word through your platform. I took, and highly recommend, the NOLS wilderness first aid course (thru REI) as a starter.
Anytime. Glad you enjoyed it!

Super video. I’m planning on making a small kit as I only do day hikes. Your video may save some lives. Good work.
Great to hear, Reid.
Thanks, Dave. Good thoughts on training.
Thanks for watching:)
Thanks a lot for this!
Anytime Michael!
Another great video Dave. How much does your backpack kit weigh?
Thanks. Depends on how much food / length of trip. This will help: www.davemorrowphotography.com/backpacking-checklist

I hope you aren't either. Thank you.
Excellent advice!
Thanks Randy!
Bardzo ważny temat i przekaz.Bezpieczeństwo jest najważniejsze.Dziękuję i pozdrawiam z Polski Jarek
Hi Dave, what I was asking about was how much does your backpack first aid kit weigh?
1.2 lb
Mind blowing ideas !
Thank!
This a great video and I will make a kit before my next trip
Love to hear it! It's a great skill set.
Great vid. Few ideas I’ll take away for updating my kit. Surprised you don’t have an airway tube given your training.
Not a bad add. That one's really hard to practice, and why I don't have it. Maybe I should though:)
You are a commando brother, you are well trained person. I really enjoy you channel.*****++
Thanks Mario!
