When I was living in the SF bay area, I couldn’t figure out why my hair and skin were flaking, why my eye circles had become pronounced and dark, and why I no longer felt vital. I was young and healthy, and water is my primary drink. I thought, “I’ll drink even MORE water!” Cue the nefarious plot music. What should’ve helped me, made no difference - in fact it seemed to make my issues worse. Why?!
Well, I moved home to the mountains and within mere weeks I felt 5 years younger. I do believe it was the treated city water. Had I realized that, I woulda gotten one of those water filters for the shower AND my tap! Guys, if you’re on the fence about a filter, just buy it. Invest in the most basic of healthcare. Your whole body inside and out will thank you!

Swiss-processed or "water-processed" decafs are the best. I discovered these when i was preggo and kind of figured out that switching to decaf wouldn't do me much good if a bunch of chemicals are used to decaffeinate it during the roasting process. Swiss-processed decaf has changed the game for me. You cannot tell there's any difference in flavor from regular.

There's other dandelion-based faux coffee products out there, but IMO Dandy Blend is by far the best because it's such a finely milled powder it totally dissolves in both hot and cold water, so I can make bomb fake iced coffees in the summer too, and my drink is ready in seconds. It also has this beautiful crema-like foamy head as if it's espresso. It tastes like a smooth cross between coffee and dark chocolate, and has that same slightly mouth-drying feel that coffee does.

I just wanted to put my wildlife biologist input in here. Please do not flush cat feces down the toilet. Water treatment plants are not meant to handle cat waste, so it can't kill a parasite that exists in cat poop (Toxoplasmosis) which can cause birth defects in pregnant women and cause people with weakened immune systems to get very sick. Also, if the waste reaches the waterways, it has been a problem for ocean wildlife. Marine mammals, especially sea otters, are susceptible to the parasite, and it is a significant threat to them at the moment. And it all traces back to people flushing cat poop down the toilet. I know it's convenient, but please don't dispose of cat poop down the toilet, it literally kills sea life.

If you have hard water that you can't do anything about, use clarifying shampoo and a leave-in conditioner to avoid build-up in hair.

About the thing u said about ppl living in dry climates having to worry about hard water affecting their skin and hair, that's probably why my cousin and friends love showering at my house so much now that I think about it. At my house, we have well water, and it's fucking awesome, tastes worlds better than city water. Anyways, back when we had a drought a few years ago we had our water tested and it was hard back then, but since it's become stable, and I live in the okefenokee swamplands in the southwest Georgia/northwest Florida area, and everyone I know that struggles with chronic dry skin or hair issues fucking LOVE showering at my house because they swear my shower makes them flourish. My cousin doesn't like to shower at her own home in town because she's noticed how much better she feels after showering in mine! That's probably why now that I think about it.
P.s. - pls excuse my speech here, I have mental disabilities and am very tired so I might not be making any sense whatsoever in this comment idk 😭

Dude a decaf coffee is my life and I hear your pain. I’ve found a few good roasted in my hood (Toronto), but yeah - few and far between.
I always say that decaf drinkers are true coffee lovers because they aren’t just in it for the buzz 🤪
I totally travel with my pillow. You wait dude...one day...and yeah pillows totally are f&@$ing stupid.
Thanks for the degreaser tip - GD glass doors are the bane of my cleaning experience 😖
Got a lot of great tips out of this vid! Thanks!! 😃👍🏼 oh! And I’m totally getting that travel case!

London’s water is rubbish too to the point that my laminate floors are only washed with a mixture distilled water and laminate floor detergent if I use tap water it becomes stained even if drying it right after 🤯

ALEX get vitamin c powder, put a tsp in the bath, will dechlorinate the whole tub. Gets rid of all the chlorine and chloramine. Makes a huge difference much more then just the shower filter. Now when I take a shower I get itchy so I started washing my hair in the tub water and now its actually growing for once. Crazy.

I am a fellow decaf drinker and also appreciate a good decaf variety. Shoutout to the coffee companies thinking of us!
I’m surprised, though, your friend said that 2 lattes is a lot of caffeine. People always think espresso has so much more caffeine, but it’s the same as regular coffee. So your 2 lattes basically 2-3 cups worth. And For folks who can metabolize caffeine normally (which is lmao not me), that’s a perfectly fine amount (basically the caffeine that would be ok, even for someone who’s pregnant, for example).

I absolutely love these videos! I am one of those who doesn’t really venture out of my own little makeup bubble (still watch your makeup videos though!), and lately I don’t even enjoy putting it on, so I want to hear about different products to help make life a little easier, or just something new to try. I bought the Clio mascara because of your recommendation, and I absolutely love it! I have to try the volumizing version next. It’s like colored hairspray on your lashes that doesn’t hurt the eyes. They also have it in a true brown shade! Not black/brown, not dark brown, it’s the perfect light/medium brown shade! I have the black also. Thanks for these videos!

Monogram coffee out of Calgary, AB. The best decaf I've ever had, and that's saying something because I've had to drink decaf my whole adult life; can't do caffeine.

This was great and right up my alley of non-makeup interest! I’ve been using the Clio long curl mascara for a couple of years and nothing even comes close, even the new tower 28 mascara, mainly because there is absolutely no flaking, smudging, etc. I take it off with Bioderma and a cotton pad no problem. So many great other tips, I hope you will do more of these! I agree sometimes it is the small everyday things that really hit!

For shower doors you can also use a 50/50 mix of dawn dish soap and white vinegar. Slather it on with a sponge, give it a sec, wipe and rinse off. Voila! Also always squeegeeing your doors after showering helps slow down the stains.

Thank you thank you for the Clio mascara suggestion. I live in a literal rainforest and hate hate hate waterproof mascara. Blinc has been the gold standard for years, but while it bills itself as "buildable" I find that its highest level of build is "you got an eyelash tint and the esthetician got bored and took it off too soon." $30 bucks is just too much for a product that needs to be replaced every 3 months, frankly, which puts me out of the Kevin Acoin range of tubing mascaras. I've been relying on L'Oreal, but that shit gets so CLUMPY after the second use- I'm too fat to go for a Twiggy look, sorry. I broke down and went for Thrive, which is nice, but dang, Clio holds its own. It doesn't turn into weird spider 60's lashes like L'Oreal can, and the price point is very accessible. Also per your straight lashes- mine are more on the naturally curly side, but it might be worth a try for you as well. Can't hurt, right? Weighted eye masks. Not the Manta kind that have hollows in them to relieve pressure on your eyeballs but the kind that straight up weigh down your eyeballs. I use them for insomnia, but I have zero use for an eyelash curler anymore.

In Australia we have a product called RainX, you guys in the US would have something similar I'm sure. It's a glass water repellent that's predominantly used on car windscreens so the water beads off them. I spray my shower glass with that and buff it in with a cloth once every 6 weeks or so and I don't get any soap scum or water marks on my glass in the shower, it's wonderful! Love your videos Alexandra (beautiful name - it's my daughter's name). Love love from Australia

I love decaf coffee. These days I make my coffee in a French press, and I mix half regular grounds and half decaf so that I can get two cups of coffee, but only on cup's worth of caffeine. Through out the year I will cycle caffeine, going a month or two without it. Having the decaf makes that transition easier.
