I love how comprehensive this is! The Chicago news segments with Gene Siskel interviewing Rodman and Letterman are a real treat. Definitely contrasting personalities. I was a big fan of David Letterman AND Siskel & Ebert, so it's a wonderful trip down memory lane to revisit the three of them in these compilations. Thank you!

Gene probably rehearsed a dozen fat jokes before every appearance just so he can pull them out every chance he gets. You can tell because he always seemed to be prepared and always appeared like he wanted to just keep telling them if Dave didn't stop him.
The Free Willy and Dessert Storm ones were particular highlights. Some of them were definitely rehearsed but some I’d say he probably came up with on the fly.
Documentaries will never get it's due respect as a genre. If done with the right topic docs are the most entertaining films because if there's drama, it's real drama, love it's real love, loss real loss etc. Nothing manufactured can match the real thing

Letterman was at his absolute peak, Howard Stern was in the first year of his becoming an iconic legend. 2020 is the peak of the decline of civilized society that really kicked into gear around 2014ish. Maybe I'm just seeing things but Gene seemed to be slowing down around '96 and his face looked a bit more tired and weary too. I know he was only diagnosed in '98 but that means the brain tumor was already happening earlier, maybe these were signs of it?

I just find Gene's tone a bit odd, a bit too serious for the joke, almost sounding like he has no idea Dave ever hosted, which we know he does, and then Dave doesn't go with the joke anyway.
