He was a legend for sure! If you raced with him at Lebanon then you know. He was one of those guys that just made everyone faster that had to race with him.
Alot of people say, that Rusty Wallace is the man from Missouri, but ask Rusty who the man from Missouri is, and he will tell ya that Larry Phillips is the man from Missouri, that man is a legend.
Definitely! I think Larry also had a lot to do with the success of some of these other racers like Rusty, and Mark Martin just to name a couple. I'm pretty lucky I got to watch him race a lot and talk to him when I first started driving. He was one of the best ever!
Yea, I seen a photo of Terry's first modified. John Skaggs (Gerg Skaggs dad) had a photo of the car in his photo collection. Now I have been around dirt track racing long enough. That I got to watch Terry's dad race, and then Terry race...
Salina Highbanks Speedway and Lucas Oil Speedway are setup. So the cars drive right by the grandstands similar to Tri State Speedway. In fact I believe Lucas was the first one I ever saw that way. Then Salina Highbanks was the next one afterwards. In fact I have seen a lot of tracks that have done the same thing...
I raced Salina last year and and the exit went off turn 1 into the pits. Maybe they've changed it since? I have never been to Lucas yet. But the Dirt Track at Charlotte was the first place I saw it. That was 20 years ago hahaha! But the fans seem to love that set up.
Terry is a true dirt track racer, He can build his own cars and win . Even though today they are destroying dirt racing with $30,000 engines and $40,000 race cars , Only a few make all the money thanks to the founder of USMTS who is nothing more than a thief, The Drivers pretty much pay the purse its a dying sport dirt racers really not to smart, They ruined it for everyone else, Now the carbon tax will stop the rich farmers from playing the stupid game , I all for carbon tax just because of these pricks, They can I pretty much guess who I am.
Is this the post you are talking about? Just don't go calling me or anyone else on my channel a coward without putting your real name on it hahaha! And I understand the frustration of the rising cost. If you are really that worried about it why don't you put your energy into a lower cost series or some kind of solution? Rising cost in motorsports is nothing new for sure. But it is a real problem.
