I am so happy the KitchenAid won your contest! I bought mine from QVC in April 2020 and it came with all the attachments including the Flex Edge Beater which helps with scraping the sides. It also came with the clear plastic Pour Shield so you can pour ingredients into the mixer while it’s running and you don’t end up wearing your flour mixture. I am surprised that Sears is still around. I know many stores have closed and they are contracting out things they used to do. So sad. Great video Amy, thanks.
I found your channel last year and it helped me decide on a Classic Plus myself! For the baking I do, it's the perfect first stand mixer for me. I'd say unless you're getting into heavier doughs or really want a splash of color, I'm happier with saving some money to get a Classic Plus vs an Artisan if there's no deals going on.
G'day from Australia my mother used to have Sunbeam Mixmasters her first one she got back in the 1970s then my father and I bought her a new model from a store called Harvey Norman in Wagga Wagga NSW where I still live both my parents have gone to God. My mother used to make banana cakes and Christmas cakes as well as other tasty treats baking was one of her favourite things to do. BTW Great video!!
Love these Wednesday videos. My oldest gets her IgG infusion every week on Wednesday so while we chill out together, I watch your video. Amy, have you purchased the scale/sifter attachment for the KA? I got it 2 years ago and oh boy does it work great! No puffing of flour everywhere and it can be a scale on its own. I think it's time KA reaches out to you to design an Amy Learns To Cook mixer!!!
I was glad to see that you gave the Ovation another go. I want one so much because of the opening in the middle but I do a lot of baking and need a great mixer. Although I have quite a collection of mixers, my favorite and the one that lives on my counter is my Kitchenaid k5ss which I purchased new in 1982 for $199.99; a lot of money for a mixer back then. I bought my Cuisinart DLC 7 the same year, for the same price and it still lives on my counter as well. Works better than any other food processor I have ever used! One thing I am wondering about the Ovation Amy; there is another UA-camr I watch whose show is all about cake baking. She has an ovation and loves it. In fact; she did a review and said she was very pleased with how it creamed. I wonder if they made any changes to the paddle since you purchased yours?
Thanks Jeanette. We appreciate it. I hope you stick around and learn to cook. Amy is the original pan freak. Once again, glad you found our channel and subbed. We appreciate it.
Hi Amy… I wanted to buy mixer but I’m not sure what kind of mixer (stand mixer or spiral mixer). Do you have suggestions what kind of mixer applicable for kneading pasta dough with 50% hydration ratio?
My suggestions for a stand mixer that is capable of kneading pasta dough is in my list for you to consider: 1) KitchenAid Pro 600. 2) KitchenAid Pro Line 7. 3) KitchenAid 8 Qt Commercial. 4) Bosch Universal Plus. 5) Ankarsrum. 6) Kenwood Chef. These are my list for a stand mixer that you are looking for to do the task you want done.
In all fairness, you you stop and scrape both at the same time? Thanks for the video. I like my KA! Did you think the KA had a faster high speed than the Kenmore?
Hi Amy, Thanks for another terrific mixer review. I remember your original one about the Kenmore and how it wasn't doing a very good job. Glad to hear the Classic Plus is still performing so well. If you're doing some comparison videos, would you please consider the KitchenAid Commercial vs. the mixing capability of the Kenwood Cooking Chef (or your 5-quart Kenwood Titanium)? Many thanks, and have a great day.
@@chineeboy18 Thanks, I thought so, since the Kenwood is supposed to be a stronger mixer than the KitchenAids. I noticed in Amy's review for each that the KA Commercial 8 quart had some hesitation when kneading the bread dough, but there was none with the Kenwood. It's just too bad we can't get Kenwood attachments in North America. It seems like they've forgotten about us.
@@sashineb.2114 I just bought the Kenwood 7 quart mixer and have encountered the same problem. I compared the array of Kenwood attachments available to customers on Amazon UK and discovered that we are not enjoying the same degree of customer attention. I noticed that DeLonghi is the parent company so we may see some improvement in the future. All that being said, the quality of Kenwood's attachments puts all other mixers to shame.
@@chineeboy18 Yes, I agree. It would be a good comparison. Have you see the Joy of Baking UA-cam channel? Stephanie uses a Kenwood 5 quart Titanium mixer, and she loves it.
In my personal opinion, I NEVER get better creaming than when I use a powerful double beater hand mixer. The texture of cake is so much better. I wish kitchen aid had an attachment like that
I always add the sugar 1st using 3/4 cup of white sugar and 3/4 cup of dark brown sugar (just a personal preference). Then I melt the butter and pour it in over the sugars and start the mixer. Maybe I'm cheating but I've always been satisfied with the result.
Yeah some recipes use 1/2 white sugar and 1/2 brown sugar. It depends on the recipe. My peanut butter cookies uses 1/2 and 1/2. If you are making purely sugar cookies or like lemon cookies, you want to use all white sugar because you don't want the flavor or color change. Thanks for watching, Rebel!
Yes, it's hard not to like the 'attempt' at this Pour-In Top design idea. Unfortunately, as seen here - just for starters - if fails. The Ovation is a 5-quart capacity mixer; not a 7, 8 [or even] 6-quart.size. Just how 'much more product' does it need to work well-? 2-sticks of butter/1-½ cups of sugar is hardly a small amount; and not an untypical quantity for many cookie recipes. Regrettably, it's back to the drawing boards. (But that ship sailed long ago).
I have had my Kenmore Ovation for 2 years and would like to upgrade the whipping and mixing attachments. If anyone has successfully found a mixing paddle with a silicone scraper that could be used on this mixer, I would really appreciate this information.
If you did Kenmore vs Cuisinart, Kenmore would win. With the Cuisinart, it doesn't really cream, although it does a good job with all the cookie ingredients in there.
Thank you LorieAnn. The Kenmore will mix, but takes longer. Not being able to mix in the middle (do to the hole) and such small beaters does limit it. But I'm thinking it's a set it and forget it mixer. Just let it mix for a while. Lots of people love it, but it doesn't compare time-wise to so many other mixers out there. But to show how well a mixer can cream (or not) was Amy's goal here.
Amy. Yes, "the road to hell is paved with good intentions". The idea of a Pour-In Top design holds such promise for a planetary stand mixer; and yet... Clearly this one failed, and continues to do so. Don't know if the idea can be better-executed so it produces the right kind of results, or it's an impossibility. The original 103 year-old planetary mixer design just keeps on plugging along, with its only real competition coming from the Bosch Universal Plus. Thanks for this comparison test.
I really like the design. I wish that there was a way to improve on it. With the hole in the middle, you just don't get the same planetary mixing as you do with traditional mixers. It was a fun test tho lol
Amy's Cheap Stand Mixer Challenge: Sunbeam Mixmaster, Hamilton Beach & Dash Go. 24 minutes in, one of the mixers quits. No smoke, but it was poor quality. We later looked and it had a ton of bad reviews on Amazon. So no smoke, but it did die on us.
That Kenmore even on High Speed, to me, it’s STILL NOT fast enough as the KitchenAid. In fact, look at Amy’s Kenmore Ovation review and skip to the part where she tested the whisk to whip egg whites and you’ll see what I’m talking about. Even on the highest speed, that Kenmore is STILL SLOWER like a turtle.

KitchenAid mixer are tops now for certain one they have a pastry beater which going to get one for my 7 quart pro stand mixer.
Amy,
When it comes to the creaming method in a stand mixer, NOTHING beats my KitchenAid!!!
I noticed that the Kenmore"s bowl is too big around and flat bottomed compared to the kitchenaid which will make a difference how it creams
Yes. I use the Ovation primarily to mix meats, such as meatloaf, sausage, and burger mixtures. It does not overmix or macerate the ingredients.

I believe the kitchen aide has come out with a paddle with a neoprene wiper on the edge of the creaming beater.
Yes but Kenmore doesn’t have that so it wouldn’t be fair to include that in the comparison.
