Real world EV review: Peugeot e2008 vs Vauxhall Corsa-e vs Citroen E-C4

  • Long term EV group test between the Peugeot e2008, Vauxhall Corsa-e and Citroen E-C4. They share drivetrains and batteries, but they are different beasts. This is our real world long term review of life with a Vauxhall Corsa-e (the Mokka-e mini SUV was not available at this time for longer than a week), the Peugeot e-2008 and Citroen's E-C4 electric cars.
Since January 2021 Jonny has been driving these three offerings by motor giant Stellantis (the new umbrella title for former FCA and PSA groups Citroen, Vauxhall, Fiat, Peugeot, Dodge, DS, Jeep, Alfa Romeo, Maserati, Opel - and a few besides)The smaller sized family EV market is booming at the moment, and not before time.
Thanks for stopping by the Late Brake Show.
Electric cars under £35,000 will keep increasing in numbers as government legislation, global warming awareness and company car taxes favour the zero tailpipe vehicle. As an early adopter of EV road and race cars, Jonny was keen to see what these cars might be like to live with beyond the usual few days or week. Spoiler alert - the Citroen is the most comfy, Corsa the quickest and the Peugeot has the biggest boot. See below for the trim levels of each car and respective pricing.

What a colossal quantity of work in long terming and testing 3 cars for 1 video. Most UA-camrs seem to spend about 20 mins on testing the car, this is another league.

We're in the process of finding a new electric car at the moment and I have been reading online and watching a lot of videos, and I have to say this channel is by far the best on UA-cam. The presenter has a eye for detail and focuses on real world stuff, not just how fast it goes round a track or how fast it goes from 0 to 100 km/t.
Thanks and keep up the great work.

A year in to owning a Corsa-e and can confirm Jonny is bang on with his 8 week review, the positives and negatives. Although it may not be the most efficient ev (it isn't), I have no regrets. It fits my use case perfectly (70 miles a day including motorway) and the better cars were beyond my budget (the Corsa itself was a stretch as it was). The car still puts a smile on my face every day I drive it. Not bad for a first step into the ev world for Vauxhall / Opel and a sign that the future can only get better as manufacturers get to grips with the new technology. Now the only thing I wonder about is how many years will the battery remain in good nick - only time will tell.

Thanks for another great video the range of EVs is becoming incredible, and I just took a look a moment ago at how many used EVs there are here in Adelaide South Australia. On one of the major car sites there are over 300. Not long ago there were hardly any. They are still all out of my price range but the fact they are becoming more available means the price will slowly become more affordable. Any how keep up the good work, I’ll keep watch and keep dreaming but eventually will end up with an EV.

small nitpick: please consider changing the font and layout on the technical data info, the font now is quite fancy with unusual shapes (e.g. capital W) and hard to read in places, the center-aligned text with inconsistent line-breaks does not help - it brings down the overall feel of otherwise a very well produced video!

Jonny, I loved this review and watched every minute. I even let the ads run as promised a while back. But it's still hard to argue that any of these make better financial sense than a good BMW F31 320 diesel and its 700+ mile range, £30 road tax and low purchase price (my 2013 cost £8k). I drive loads of miles in mainly long runs to Devon and Kent from Liverpool and use a smart 451 cabrio for local driving too.

I don't think we even get these in Australia, but I very much enjoyed the video. Well presented as always :)

Good stuff. Will be testing an e-2008 this week. Had a Corsa (petrol) for a few days recently and driving was ok but the interior was darker and more miserable than anything i've sat in for years.

We have had an e208 for about a month now. Quite "thirsty" it is but it doesn´t matter. We love it. And by the way, we love your channel too!

It’s your eye for detail in these reviews that I really appreciate and I think I’ve learnt a lot along the way about car design and styling. Always get the sense you’ve done your homework as you glance back at your notebook for some piece of detail. Makes me wonder if you’ve got a stash of these from over the years that you can revisit…!

Richard, appreciate that. Tbh my notebook thing stemmed from having an awful memory, and always struggling when filming with TV. I decided to sod hiding it and just bringing it along for the ride!

I have taken an e2008 for a two hour test drive back in early spring on a particularly damp and cold day. It performed pretty well for the conditions and I will be looking to lease one later in the year.
The ëC4 does have certain hints of Citroën GSA to it, which is no bad thing.
The Corsa while being the most attractive generation of Corsa, still doesn't quite have that feeling of the 208.

Great video, it shows how the same plateform can be adapt to fit the brands of a group like PSA, and for their real first electric cars it's a good start.
And Peugeot is back with a good design

@@Galahadfairlight that doesn't change the fact that these cars where made by PSA group pre stelantis, and this group had a lot to do with Peugeot for the name since the P was for Peugeot, like VAG with Wolkwagen
My comment was in 2 parts the peugot part was a separate one just to point out the design.

Great video as usual Jonny. Looking forward to having an electric car. In Australia we are way behind the 8 ball. One State has just introduced a 2.5 cent per. Km. Tax to replace the fuel levy. As far as I know these 3 particular cars are not available here yet.

Great video Jonny, I like the look of the Peugeot too. Unfortunately, with my wife be a childminder we’re kinda restricted to 7 seaters. Not many 7 seat EVs around at the minute.
