Everything in this performance has a purpose. The song itself was written by Earl Brown, inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King’s speech I Have a Dream. The song was written with Elvis in mind & it’s a tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Mr. Brown was aware of Elvis his love for Dr. King. He also knew that Elvis was devastated by the news of Dr. King’s assassination. The white suit was also worn to accompany the song’s dream for better days. Awesome reaction to the legend. Elvis (R.I.P.) was so iconic as an entertainer that his vocals were often overshadowed by the persona and gimmicks. “Elvis and the black community pt1 - 2”, is a small documentary if you would like to understand the real truth about who or what Elvis was or represented. No obligation, check it out first and your choice if you want to react to it…
The BEST way to understand Elvis' feelings as he sang this song during the globally turbulent year of 1968 - is to imagine Elvis singing that in DECEMBER 2020 after the summer riots, Covid19 lockdowns, people dying from Covid19, increased alcohol and drug use and suicides that came with the lockdowns. Remember when people were happy to see 2020 end on New Year's Eve? That's how people felt about 1968. Great reaction as always!
It’s hard to choose what would be his best live performance in terms of passion… I would say this is top 3 along with What Now My Love (Aloha concert) and Unchained Melody (his last concert)… I could change my mind tomorrow because there’s so many to choose lol ❤
Of course you had to have a good voice back then. The main exposure that people got to an artist was through radio and records. There was TV and movie exposure, but that was more limited, and couldn't be brought up on demand, like today. That's why singers from the past were so much better than today, and Elvis was the whole package.
My favorite song you guys are great I laugh so hard everything I watch u. ELVIS IS 2ND TO NONE except Jesus of course.Very good song. Love this man since I was 10yrs old I'm 68 now.
Elvis was singing about what was wrong with America at time, hence why he sang that song so passionately.... The assassination of Dr King, Bobby Kennedy, the civil rights movement and of the course the Vietnam war was raging at time in 1968. Elvis loved his country...

I heard Elvis backup singers that have worked for everyone in the Business when they heard Elvis sing in rehearsal the first time they were shocked at what he could do with his voice with little effort
Puffffffff. El gran Elvis. Inspiracion de millones de cantantes.
Elvis #1
Our king.
Goosebumps all the time!🕯
The Goat 🎸

Wow!!! Yes Elvis has left the building but definitely not forgotten.
Right now. RIGHT NOW, You go, Elvis.
LOVED YOUR REACTIONS. ❤
THE KING NEVER UPSETS 🥰🥰🥰
Also the drummer is outstanding reading and playing his designated music sheet to perfection, a true professional.
One of the dudes that make life worthwhile only king That I aknowledge ❤
If you want to hear more of his incredible voice, please react to “American Trilogy” video from the Aloha From Hawaii concert.
No autotune tech crap real talent
There is always me. I never knew of that song till I heard a phone commercial blasted out in the mall on a big screen . I literally STOPPED and listened, then I went on UA-cam n searched and it was an Elvis song. wow. I listened to it when I am down.
Wauuuu that song is sooo incredible good 👍👍👍
Also, "IT'S NOW OR NEVER" will show what a fantastic singer he actually was! "And, I Love You So" and "I Can't Help Falling In Love With You" of his most beautiful songs of ALL time! There are so many and most people are only covering the last 10 years of his life! You must react to "JAILHOUSE ROCK"! He was so young and make sure that you watch the film clip of this phenomenol song. I say film clip, because this was before videos! He was, is, and always will be the KING OF ROCK AND ROLL! THANKS AGAIN for a wonderful reaction! You have made my day. I have been around for practically all of ELVIS' life! So you guys have definitely made an old lady so very happy!!!
He did this song as a memorial to Martin Luther King Junior who has just been assassinated. The emotions were high and he delivered it from his true soul! You guys Rock! Great reaction. Oh yeah, I was like 4 years old when this was performed. just a little kid, but my Mom was a huge Elvis fan.
why did you fail to mention Kennedy and Vietnam vets too?
@@bwana-ma-coo-bah425 WHy are you here? I mean really, you must be deranged…what a fresk!
I hate hypocrites ,zappa fan hahahaha
Du bist nur noch verwirrt, zappa fan, hahahaha

ELVIS
G.O.A.T.!!!!!
Yes amazing voice 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 the king of music forever and ever Elvis 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥😍
Please react to Elvis singing "Take My hand precious Lord."
ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC REACTION 👏 👌
Here's the thing.
His live performances are amazing, especially this iconic moment.
However, to fully understand elvis's soul, depth artistry and diversity, you must dive into his critically acclaimed studio recordings in multiple genres of music. Mind blowing.
Lovely reaction guys thanks very much.
ELVIS, and HIS Singers All Cried after this song. was done He felt this song SO Much, he COLLASPED after this Song . Just a little ( FYI ).
All live
You both are adorable I'm so glad I found you.
Highly recommend you listen to his 1970 version of bridge over troubled water as well
The King at his best.
That was the closing tune of the 1968 Singer Sewing Elvis Christmas Special. NBC played this every year through the decade of the 70’s.
Y'all are fun..lady is cosmic, dude is in a groovy groove...
Elvis said "I'm just going leave this right here on this stage...thank you, good night." :)
Elvis was singing about what was wrong with America at time, hence why he sang that song so passionately.... The assassination of Dr King, Bobby Kennedy, the civil rights movement and of the course the Vietnam war was raging at time in 1968. Elvis loved his country...
ELVIS TOP DEMAIS 🎼🎼🎼🎼
Wow, you guys reaction to this is amazing. And dude you are really compelling but wow mama, there's something that's just so hilarious but sincere about you that I really miss. I'm 60 years old that guarantee you there were people just like you when I was in my late teens and early twenties and a music scene and we weren't listening to Elvis but you know what I mean. You guys really do rock.
Elvis wurde von den Göttern gasand 🙏🙏🇺🇸🇩🇪🇺🇸
The Voice that never failed the man! That song is as relevant now as it was then! It's even better that now a younger generation is finding this man that definitely preached the gospel with his voice! Shame you have to pause because of youtube copyright. Elvis should get a pass! lol
el rey del ELVIS
