The chandelier in the lobby of the Majestic Hotel is absolutely gorgeous. Your suite is tastefully decored, beautiful. USD150, right price. Lavish breakfast buffet.
I guess the housekeeper forgotten to place 2 bottles of complimentary mineral water initially. As you said, even a cheap budget hotel do has 2 complimentary bottles of mineral water. Really appreciate you spent so much in this hotel to get the experience and share this content to us.
As a M'sian, i hv yet to stay in Hotel Majestic since it was officially opened many years back. No reason to visit unless on functions, such as wedding, hi teas or get together activity. Glad and thank you on yr video that provided a peep into the opulent settings of the grand ole dame of a hotel .. The pool area as shown was not up to mark and agree with the surrounding noise of the traffic below.. Kudos to your great vlog and hope to see more of your adventures.
This hotel is retro and beautiful with a great atmosphere! As you said, it's not like an ordinary hotel, and even the room feel grand! Your lunch salad looks delicious, and your breakfast buffet is great too! Overall it is a nice hotel, thank you very much for sharing! 👍🤩🙏
Yes that’s what it was called in Hainanese and I believe they stayed at number 1. My maternal grandfather used to work at the Station hotel then the Majestic Hotel from 1932 to 1970
Hi and good evening, Ken. Great to treat yourself to a luxurious hotel stay after a two weeks of solo road trip on a motorbike to the East Coast of Malaysia. We, Malaysians, are proud of you and truly appreciate your hard work by promoting our country to the world. A huge thanks, Ken. It's a very fun and interesting East Coast series....loved it ❤️💞
Ken...you must make a video content about Merdeka Parade (Independence Day). You will love the parade, the crowd & the celebration. Don't forget to check out more info for this year's venue of Merdeka parade. It varies from year to year. 🎉
Ken, we have a similar taste for the Old Grand Queen Hotels of Asia Such as The Peninsula in Hong Kong The Oriental in Bangkok The Continental in Saigon The Royale in Pheom phen Raffles in Singapore The Grand (?) in Rangoon The one on The Bund in Shanghai (I forget the name) with the jazz club The old Lisboa in Macau The Manila in Manila Stayed in them all and others But never did Majestic in KL
KL is a fantastic city, but there's room for improvement. The city's design overly prioritizes cars. Given the ample space between buildings, funds could be better used by transforming current highways and large roads into attractive parks, gardens, and pathways. Enhancing public transport, particularly buses, is crucial. The city has great potential, thanks to the spacious gaps between buildings created by the expansive roads connecting them. I hope authorities take the needed measures to transform Kuala Lumpur into a more pedestrian-friendly city.
Love this hotel. Feels like in the 50s.😊 Next week 31st August Malaysia will be celebrating our Independence Day. Hope you can stay here and the celebration will be hold in Putrajaya.
The higher price is for the experience, prestige, exclusivity and the legacy of the place. When it was opened 90 years ago, the only noise came from the locomotive across the road at the old Railway Station. And the reason of the hotel was built up at current location is due to railway was a main mode of transportation back then.
It's indeed an amazing tour of Majestic Hotel, an iconic historic hotel in Kuala Lumpur. Love that British styled uniform worn by the worker...so "cute" 🙂 Well, your room looks cozy, spacious and comfy but too bad, no good views 😩 Thank you very much for this amazing content ...another wonderful video. Kudos to you, Ken.
Ken, you said "From Bankok to Jakarta without taking a single flight". I wonder if you already know this and you've mentioned it in earlier vids but just thought I'd mention - did you know how Lonely Planet started? The autobiography of the founders is a very good read. For anyone curious, the couple who founded LP wrote the first edition immediately after completing their journey from UK to Australia without taking a flight, back in the 70s. You'd be surprised to know which company (the only one) that first took and published that first edition.
So nice to have this luxury occasionally especially a nice soft bed for a lovely sleep. It's nice to have a big buffet breakfast sometimes too. So much delicious food to choose from 😊
I used to stay at the old wing in 1973 when I was undergoing training upon joining Malaysia’s largest bank - Maybank. Then, the room was large with a large bath tub and a door with a large keyhole. The waiters and bellboys were mostly elderly, perhaps they were pioneer employees. After that, the hotel stopped operating for several years until it was taken over by the YTL Group which redeveloped and upgraded it to a 5++ star hotel.
You need to treat yourself more!! I just started full-time solo travelling and realized how stressful always being on the road can be. Please continue to treat yourself more!! They usually come in at night to do turndown service -- put water bottles / chocolate next to your pillow, put out slippers, close the curtains, etc. If you're in the room, they'll just ask you if you need anything :)
17:05 For Beautiful Sunsets in Malaysia, I would recommend you to go to the state "kedah, alor setar". They have one of the most beautiful sunsets in the WORLD
Good afternoon Ken from a very wet Wales 🏴 We really enjoyed this vlog. Very, very classy. You certainly deserve a bit of luxury now and again 🙏 We're off to the next one with you now and joining you on your Luxury bus to Singapore 🇸🇬
I think the second service at 8 pm is called "Turndown Service". This service usually being offered at a high class hotels or on upgraded rooms. The housekeeping staff will prepare/turn your bed to "sleep mode". Its like when you travel on first class flight and the crew came to turn your seat to bed. Probably the staff didn't explain to you clearly.
My preferred hotels are colonial-style. Consider staying at the E & O Hotel in Penang, which opened its doors in 1885, or the Majestic Hotel in Melaka, which is an even older building than the one in KL, if you want colonial-style accommodation. Unfortunately, in 2015, Carcosa Seri Negara, another hotel in KL with a colonial aesthetic, ceased operations.
Ken Do come to Muar, a Royal Town for Johor.. It's just 2 hours driving from Kuala Lumpur to Muar. U can find more interesting places and food in Muar.
Try staying at Club Med in Cherating - its a fullboard (you can order to eat anything for free - as it is already included in the fee). The buffet there is way much bigger with multiple stations... Room however is so so but not too bad. There are tonnes of activities you can do there like archery, flying fox, sports etc for free. A bit expensive though, around $350 for 2 nights...
We love the buffet at the coffee house. Btw, you can always request for an earlier check in. Sometimes we ask for a check in at 12.30 and check out at 1.30-2. 😊
Wow I'm from KL and know about this hotel, passing by sometimes but never went in. Passed by many times since chilhood. I thought it was run down being so old, but your vid surprises me. Maybe I should book a night to just enjoy and chill.
Stayed here back in 2017, payed 60€/night for a room in the new wing. The afternoon tea and Smokehouse were the coolest things for me. No butler for my room type but service was great. Room was huge and liked the turn down service in the evening. Jackie Chan was staying there the same time to promote some new movie. Stayed in better hotels but you can feel the history there.
Bro u must try Lexury in port dickson , the window faces the big sea, you can continue swimming, fishing❤❤❤❤in u room❤❤❤after 30/31/8 u must stay in kl night 30 and morning 31 have The show
I believe every expensive/ fancy hotel in the world has a tipping culture. Regardless the workers probably are paid little and a tip is a nice thank you

I think part of the old wing was the National Art Gallery. Is it still there?
@@aridyaacob9528... The art gallery has shifted to a new premise... National Art Gallery situated along Jalan Tun Razak ...
Majestic hotel is really majestic mate so rare n amazingly bck in time classic
That’s where my mother stays (Hainanese village) back in the 1960s and work at the KTM railways station across the road.
My grandparents and family used to stay there too. Indeed it was a row of 12 houses

Since he said he will going to a new country, I don't think he will have time to watch the celebration in Putrajaya.
This year you must go for Malaysia independent parade in kuala lumpur.. last time u go is in kuala terengganu if i remember
In fact, the next building to the hotel is the old railway station where many historic events happened there including the Malayan Union rally.
The railway station's roof has been built to withstand up to 3 meters of snow.
Gorgeous room, spacious, luxurious and there is bathtub! In US dollars, very cheap indeed! 👍
The majestic bring memory .use to eat set lunch.those day last century chinese waiters spotless white uniform..western food was delicious.

Its a great hotel. New and old wing are great!
I love it.. I love the vibe❤
Majestic Melaka slightly different with super nice view
Thank you for this video. Beautiful.
Nomad capitalist will be organizing an international conference at the hotel next month.
Ken, you were just around the corner to the national museum, have you been there.
You should try dim sum at JW Marriot KL.. be there by 11am for lunch is the best.
When he said smoking room, Titanic movie scenes came to mind.
You good bro
❤❤❤❤❤❤
You still in KL?
150 usd is like nothing in singapore.
thats y no body want to stay long in sinjapork
How are your night? Sleep well? Have you accounted with a haunted figure of Japanese soldier from WW2?😱😱😱
Just kidding☺
You are not wrong a Japanese soldier did commit suicide in room 48 in the old wing when they surrendered during WW2. And it is HAUNTED 😱😱😱👻👻👻
I don't think $150 is a lot to pay for such a beautiful hotel. If the hotel was in NY it would probably be over $500.

Hey Ken, you should consider E & O hotel, it is over 100 years old.
I stayed here once.
It is simply luxurious.
Pricey.
Well worth it.
KL has great value for hotels. That's the price of a Motel here in the USA.
Wow $150 for a five star hotel is actually a steal. In a lot of places your room looks like it could be worth over $1000 a night.
So nice to have this luxury occasionally especially a nice soft bed for a lovely sleep. It's nice to have a big buffet breakfast sometimes too. So much delicious food to choose from 😊
