Only the Giuliana Rancic one was undeserved. She was making a hippy reference when she said "patchouli and weed." Zendaya didn't understand that because she was only 18 and probably had little understanding of hippies. But older people understood the joke completely. If there were any doubt, that was ended by her reference to the Grateful Dead, a musical group from the hippy era. Unfortunately, the Grateful Dead reference was edited out before airing.
